There's no way he'll be paid that much. Puts things in perspective when folks thought Wallace wasn't worth 10+ million.

    Greg Jennings wants what?????

Report: Greg Jennings wants $14M per season
    [IMG]
Tom Pelissero of ESPN Twin Cities "heard" at the Combine that free agent Greg Jennings is seeking $14 million a year.

$14M a year would make Jennings the NFL's third highest paid wide receiver behind only Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. No one is going to pay that much for an injury-prone wideout entering his age-30 season. Per Pelissero, there is a "popular theory" among NFL front offices that wide receivers will "sit on the market" like inside linebackers did last year. In other words, they may price themselves out of the initial wave of free agency.

Has he lost his mind? He thinks he should be the 3rd highest paid WR? After his last two seasons? Mike Wallace is looking better & better. Fans might want to put the brakes on Greg Jennings to Miami, just a bit.

Bye bye Jennings! No way he gets paid that much, and all it does is rises Wallace's value

This has to be his agent yapping in his ear. I understand that you start high and negotiate lower but as Richie use to say, "Golly gee, Fonz."

At 14 mil per season Joe Philbin will come up with a case of selective amnesia.

    Rumor BS.

Granted FA's are generally overpaid, but a raise after his pedestrian season in Green Bay makes little sense.

Don't see why he would be worth any less than Mike Wallace.

I expect that the majority of FAs will be disappointed this year in terms of how much they think they'll get and what they end up with. The team salary cap is flat and you're not getting the huge bump in average salaries you annually got from the draftees. I could see free agency opening with a whimper this year.

Resign Hartline and sign Wallace. Then draft someone. See ya Jennings.

Agreed, and add in Ireland's penchant for haggling down to the last dollar and think our Fa period is not going to open with a bang.

I know you start high and negotiate lower but 14 million might just turn teams off. There's high and then there's delusion

Maybe but there has to be some reasoning behind that insane number. He's worth about half of that so start in the 10 million range and "settle" in the 7 million range. What are teams to do? He starts at 14 million, they counter with 0 and they agree to meet in the middle? If he's starting at 14 million he must think he's truly a 10-12 million a year player. He's far from it

Since we are starting negotiations with extremes...I suppose Ireland's counter was minimum wage, although he's upset that it could be raised, thus losing leverage in negotiations.

This sounds by the way like something another agent is putting out there about Greg Jennings for a reason. Possibly an agent tied with Mike Wallace.

What Jennings agent seeks and what Jennings gets will be two entirely different numbers.

Who cares what the report says? He's not getting that kind of money from anyone, and I'm sure his camp knows it.

Well, I don't think he'll get that kind of money anywhere, but I'd still like to see us with Hartline, Jennings, Bess and maybe Coradelle Patterson as our WR corps....just not at $14m for Jennings alone...

This is my plan as well. Sign Jennings and draft Patterson at 12. Load up on pass catchers.

This seams more likely bit then again the rumor could quickly be debunked by Jennings agent.

Maybe his agent threw that # out there just to get the word out that they still believe Jennings it a top 5 wr skill.

Obviously he's not gonna get it and everyone saying bye bye Jennings should just relax.

Although if pressed I think you could argue that any of the top 3 WRs should be the top *** wr this year, should be interesting how this turns out

IMO, and due to his last two seasons, I think he's worth no more than $5mil per with some incentives thrown in. I would like to have him for his knowledge of the system alone.

Guys/gals, this is like bartering at the flea market or a yard sale...you set the price high and have them come down to what you want. He is very likely looking for $11-12m per year.
