Sorry. My sarcasm was induced by the ice storm that hit Cincy this morning. It took me longer to scrape the ice off my car than it did to drive to the office. Given the nature of threads lately, I thought it fit.

I'm cool with signing JENNINGS for 7-8M. I'm not cool with Mike Wallace for $10M. Mike Wallace is not nearly worth that much. I'd have a very hard time giving any non-QB $10M, especially one that you haven't had the luxury of seeing on a day-to-day basis.

I hope we have a chance to find out. Talk about first world problems....Mike Wallace is an outstanding talent and I'm sure Philbin can find a way to make use of his skills.

Yeah very good. Wallace and Jennings could be great. Never felt that way about ingram and fryar...

Well, it would match my Madden team then... I already have both! LOL! DO IT JEFF! That would surely sell some tickets too.

Just semantics. I said "very good" because you said "very good" in reference to Wallace and Jennings.
If Wallace and Jennings turned out for us as well as Fryar and Ingram, they'd be worth whatever we sign them for. Of course even better would be fine too.

This reflect Jeff's tendency to double up. But also maybe just how little he thinks for many of the receiver prospects in the draft.

If our GM throws out offers for $7-8 million for each, and we get them, great. We'll see what the market is for each.

    Jennings thinks it's $14M ;)

Randy Moss is a fit in a dink and dunk offense. He did excell at long passes, however he was also really good at the short routes.

Dan Marino didn't fit Miami's offense either. Just sayin ;)

If our coaching staff signs Wallace and then continue with their old offense not adjusting it then we need to fire the whole lot.

Under Haley's Dink and Dunk and after holding out he still had 800 yards and 8 TDs with a few more that they missed on.

Now you get me Cruz and Jennings and I will be over the moon excited.

Wallace and Jennings is nice....Cruz and Jennings has me thinking Duper-Clayton type potential.

How much was Moss making when NE traded for him? I'm not sure NE is a great example of overpaying a WR.

They did, however they didn't have to change because Moss wasn't able to do the dink and dunk.

If we sign Jennings and Wallace, I think it guarantees we're going to use 2/3 picks on offensive lineman. Warmack is going #12.

I agree that Jennings is a better fit between the two. Wallace would have been nice had Henne still been the QB.

Now if Ireland could pull this off then he could draft pretty much anyone he wants with the first few picks without the Fire Ireland banner immediately flying over Davie. Like if one of the top G's or T's slip to 12.....

Signing both is doable. The fact that Tanny is so cheap at QB makes it feasible to spent more on WRs and still have the same amount budgeted for the passing game as most other teams. That said, I don't think signing both would have the impact many here seem to think. On the other hand, a part of me wants them to do it just so I don't have to listen to the incessant *****ing and whining about our receiving corps.

Actually, there hasn't been a whole lot of "*****ing and whining about the receiver corps" since the incessant felating and worship of our receiving corps with a steady dose of incessant *****ing and whining about our rook QB stopped.

*****ing and whining about the OC is a given. It has happened to every OC that has ever been here (or probably anywhere).

No, there is usually a pretty linear progression. Nobody *****ed about Dan Henning initially. At first, most people *****ed about Pennington's arm strength (ironically enough).

No complaints with acquiring those players, but when thinking about the $$$ that would be spent on the WR position this sounds like an unsound strategy with possible disastrous results 2-3 years down the road.

I said it was a given, not a constant. Most OCs get a honeymoon period of a year or so and then it picks up from there, so yeah, it is a pretty linear progression. Sherman is going into his second year here.

I seriously doubt this will happen. If it did, it could end up being an absolute disaster. Two big egos, two HUGE contracts: one for a little older player who is an injury risk. The other for a me first player who would likely become a serious malcontent and locker room cancer if said older, injury risk player ends up with more balls thrown his way. Ever heard of too much of a good thing? This would be a GREAT example. This could potentially blow this team, and our salary cap, all to hell.

Solution: sign Wallace (or Jennings). Draft a WR in round two (not sold on any WRs in this draft being worth #12 overall). Resign Hartline if his asking price is within reason and same for Reggie Bush. That is a lot of playmaking potential with Wallace (or Jennings), Miller in the backfield, and Bush moving all over the place and being utilized in space. Takes pressure off Hartline/ rookie receiver and frees up Bess and our TE considerably.

Now we just have to fix our o-line and secondary...

My guess is signing both would be at the expense of not signing Jake Long to a contract, so I would think Eric Fisher at #12

Has Jennings or Wallace caused the Packers or Steelers that many problems? Philbin knows Jennings and Wallace has hardly been a headache for Pittsburgh compared to other teams WR's.

Wait, lets think about this...both these guys are alpha dogs and will expect to be the #1 target...I don't see these guys being happy at all together, given that we have a pretty good (not great) slot guy already....I don't see this as feasible IF each knows that Irish is negotiating with the other...
