I think you could be right. I had that concern early in the year after a game I thought he played somewhat sloppily but then changed my mind as the season wore on..... but then when you look at his size of 6'2 317 you kinda wonder how much damage he can really do as a phone booth type player <like you say> verse NFL caliber linemen and beastly Mike linebackers. He might be better off at his heavier weight where he can use it to generate more force upon impact and to help him keep driving.
so do I but something is not right to me… there cant be that many guys that are that big running that fast.
Sad when you think about Davone Bess running a 4.64 at 5'10 and being our starting split end for much of the year.
What's impressive is the job Bama did coaching up Warmack as a 3 star recruit per ESPN, Scout, and Rivals. Scout had him as the #45 guard, ESPN #16, Rivals #20.
Warmack is moving pretty well in the drills. I think it could depend on the team drafting and the blocking scheme they run.
He looks good, but he's tight and not explosive. Bad vertical, bad broad jump. I've never liked him. Not too long ago I was still putting Levine Toilolo above him. And I'll be honest. I'm not sure I still don't.
Nope. Warmack just ran the last 40 he'll ever have to run. You just draft him and you have the next Will Shields for the next ten years.
What are you guys seeing with Long..I'm paying extra attention to character this year, I want identity added to this team, players who have it and play with an edge, self motivated...Long has that nasty side and I like that, how's he look athletically?, what about value in the 2nd ?
That Zach Ertz vertical by the way was 30.5 inches. Since 2009, only Davon Drew (29.5), Bear Pascoe (26.5), Nate Byham (29), Lee Smith (29) and Cory Harkey (26.5) have done worse than that at the Combine.
It should be noted that in 2008, Jermichael Finley did worse at 27.5 inches, as did Kellen Davis, Craig Stevens, Jacob Tamme, Darrell Strong, Derek Fine, Adam Bishop, Evan Moore and Kolo Kapanui. But that year I believe was the year that I noted a global change in vertical leap results which suggested they were calibrating the vertec equipment incorrectly, or at least inconsistently from other years.
Metaphorically Warmack may have gotten a bit of mud on his brand new sneakers, but he's still a killer in a phone booth and can get out 5 yards or so and make some killer blocks. You watch him run, though, and he's not likely to be 20-30 yards down field leading the way on screen passes. He'll kill DLs at the LOS and that's what's most important. Watson ran a 5.25 and look at what he did to Matt Elam 20 yards downfiled in this clip, first play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8AYhBZOLJk
What's Eifert's official bench? His last 10 reps or so shouldn't count, he's taking his *** off the bench and leveraging the weight with his legs. Not anymore impressive than Reed's 16.
I like Justice Cunningham a lot. The 4.91 is not unexpected for what kind of player he is. He's more short area explosive than long speed. Underused at South Carolina. I think he had like a 9'8" broad jump which is good.
That 4.60 for Eifert is really good but what's scary is he looked really tight, he looked like he could've done a lot better.
