    http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/2/25/4027308/greg-jennings-rumors-dolphins-not-interested

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted that Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin is not a huge fan of Jennings. Miami is clearly desperate for a No. 1 receiving option, but Jennings may not be at the top of their list.

For all the talks of the Dolphins making a serious run at Jennings, signing the 29-year-old wideout is a cloudy situation. Jennings said he was open to joining his former offensive coordinator in Miami earlier this month. Philbin ran the offense in Green Bay for five seasons before taking over the Dolphins.

The Phinsider broke down the potential of Jennings playing with the Dolphins in 2013, noting the relationship he has with Philbin and how nicely he would fit into the West Coast offense. Obviously, injuries throw up a red flag, but the versatile Jennings is a great route runner and he would give Ryan Tannehill a top receiving option.

Lol. One day we all but already landed him. The next day we aren't interested. I don't believe anything this time of year until the dotted line is signed

Too much smoke and mirrors always around this time of year, teams don't want to show their hand and agents try to drum up interest by putting stories out, either about their players or others. It's all fun to read, but it's best to take it all with a hefty pinch of salt at the moment.

I dont know if this is true or not, but if it is, it really doesn't surprise me. I've been saying for a while that I have a feeling that Philbin values Jennings less than most people seem to think. I'd think we'd still have some interest in the $6 million/yr range, but it sounds like Jennings expects much more and may view our unwillingness to give him much more as a personal snub due to the prior relationship with Philbin. If there is any truth to the talk of his wanting $14 milion, then he seems like a guy who wants a team to make a true showing of love. He won't get that much, but he may find it more palatable to take a much smaller "prove it" deal from someone he doesn't know and who doesn't really know him than to take it from his former OC of many years. Just a guess.

I have thought signing Jennings has been a low probability all along, not b/c of his relationship with Philbin...which I have no idea how solid or not it is. I don't see Jennings being a fit for the way the FO is trying to build the team...age, injuries and $$$ all decrease the likeliness he will be in a Dolphin uniform. Particularly with how speedy the WRs were at the combine yesterday, Jennings would have to give the Dolphins a South Beach discount imo.

The one thing that Philbin has done since coming here is to NOT bring a bunch of his old coaches or players coat-tailing along with him, as we saw Quitcels do.... He's seems to be more of build-your-own type of coach. While Jennings fits here, has the connections, is a viable option and etc....he's really this years' Matt Flynn. Who really knows if he's coming here. As was said, so far he's a lock to be here next season, the Packers want him back, they'll tag him possibly and he's asking for twice what he's worth and now (drum roll please), we really don't want him here...

Well, we'll see how it shakes out, but this is a rich free agent AND draft for WRs....My gut tells me if we can't get our #1 guy we want (I believe that is Wallace, but could be wrong), then they look to the draft...in fact, I'm guessing that even if we can sign Wallace, they still get at least one more in the 1st or second round... I'm not sure if Patterson is the best WR in the draft as many have said, but I would not be surprised to see Wallace and another drafted guy on the field for the Fins next season...

I think I'm the most excited about this team in several years this offseason, as it begins...just wish it would start already.....lol

So... word comes out that the Pack may franchise tag Jennings... presumably to get a pick in exchange for him since they can't really afford to pay him tag money. Then a couple days later, coincidently a report comes out that we aren't interested.

    Hmmmmmm...

To add some validity to this story, I'd like to know why Philbin apparently isn't a fan of Jennings? What specifically isn't he a fan of? Work ethic or character, skill, physical ability, etc?

I don't want Jennings. In the only game that Jennings played, not started by a Hall of Fame QB, he went 3-32-1. That's an Anthony Fasano line.

Jennings is also going to be 30 in September and has missed 11 games over the last two years. If you're hurt, it's the same thing as not even being here.

If he checks his ego at the door and his $14 million price tag drops to ~$5 million a year, then MAYBE. Otherwise, it's just not worth it.

Jennings is 29 years old and he is coming off a subpar season because of injury. It also appears he wants to be paid as if he is one of the top receivers in the NFL. I just don't see the Dolphins paying him the type of salary he is reported to want. The Dolphins are still two or three years from being a legitimate playoff team and I just don't see Jennings still being around when this team is playing in the playoffs.

The Dolphins should stick with drafting or signing younger players who will still be on the team in three years.

I don't really think that first line is an indicator of anything. A single game sample is basically worthless. Plus he still scored a touchdown, which is something that we don't see much of from our own wide receivers.

Reports like this - and the others we've seen lately - are why I both love and hate the technology of modern media. The truth is, none of these guys, and certainly none of us know anything about who will sign who, etc. until the chips are actually down on the table on March 12th. Until then, everything is rumor after rumor after rumor (reported on twitter, and retweeted, etc.), and much of it is absolutely on purpose to throw teams, players and agents off during pre-negotiation and, later, negotiation periods.

We can all laugh at this right now, because it's funny how one day, he's definitely a Dolphin, and then the next Philbin isn't a fan of him. Who really knows. We'll all know on 3/12 and beyond, and I can't wait! Till then, any of our opinions here are worth about as much as rumors we read everywhere.

if we dont land a premire wr then we have or will have a rough year next year regardless of who we draft.

I will say that Wllace and Welker would make the best combo wrs we have had in a long time and that is who I will pray that we get , even though it may not be reality.

Welker is never coming back here...he'll also get more than what we will pay for him... I wouldn't be surprised if we double dip WRs in FA and the draft... Of course, a lot depends on whether we re-sign Hartline. My ideal situation is Wallace and Patterson as our WRs with Bess/Matthews and whoever to fill out the roster...

It is crazy season. But assume both stories are true:

They're crazy for Wallace and have no interest in Jennings.

Throws Conventional Wisdom out of the window doesn't it?

There hasn't been any reasonable reason for anybody to believe "we all but already landed him" and there's no reasonable reason to assume that we aren't even going to consider him either.

    Patterson
    Wallace
    Hartline

That would be a good 3 man punch, maybe we trade back into first round for Tyler Eifert? I know, too much madden. I can dream though.

I could live with Wallace and Patterson as the two outside receivers on the Dolphins, but I would prefer Bess over Hartline in the slot. If the Dolphins decide to go with Wallace and Patterson, as you suggest, I don't see Hartline as a member of the Dolphins in 2013.

I don't see it happening. I think Ireland makes a big "splash" signing in FA, and then looks to build in the draft. I wouldn't rule a trade down and Eifert though ... but I don't see him resigning Hartline and then drafting Patterson. Especially if Wallace is in play.

One mock draft had us picking Hopkins from Clemson at 12. I just don't see that. But I see him at the top of the 2nd round or in the top three rounds. But I like the idea of Wallace and a couple of solid route runners in the draft.

Question. Have we yet to target a single person from Green Bay? Until we bring one in I do have to wonder why Philbin doesn't push Ireland on it.

Dolphins need to make a decision on a number of players and positions before taking Patterson or anyone else. This off-season could turn ugly if our money is spent wrong.

If Miami drafts a tackle in the first, I'm going to flip my ****. Just sayin'.

Could be the Fins aren't interested in Jennings with a price tag of $12M, as he's asking for... For that much, I'll take Wallace... The suspense of how things shake out this offseason is killing me...

    I agree.
It just seems like some folks put the cart before the horse when talking about how they think the off season should or would play out.
90% of free agency will be complete before the draft.
