So, many of the mock drafts heading into the combine had a plethora of DE/OLBs going in or near the top 10-15 in the draft. But, after that combine showing where they were either athletic but thin or good size but slow - it would seem several of those guys will not go that high, right? (Mayock seems to have all of them near the bottom of round 1 in his book).

At the same time, several of the O-Linemen looked pretty good (Joeckel, Fisher, Johnson, Warmack, Cooper) - How many of those do you think go in the top 10-15?

Personally, I really like the idea (depending on what happens in free agency) of the Dolphins getting Warmack (who seems to be one of the safest picks in the draft) in round 1 and then going at other positions in rounds 2-3 (WR, TE, DB, DE - not in a particular order). That means it almost surely will not happen, of course.

Did (as Mayock intimated) Fisher move up ahead of Joeckel, possibly? He looked great in drills and in the Sr bowl.

Also, where do you think Cooper will go? He's not rated as high as Warmack, of course, but he looks very athletic to me.

    Thanks for the observations.

Between Cooper and Warmack, Cooper is a better fit for Miami. Warmack is a phone booth player. He's not going to make many reach blocks or get out to the second level and make big blocks. Cooper is simply a better overall athlete than Warmack. He's not as strong at the POA, but he's quicker. Cooper is a better fit for a ZBS.

I think the 3 tackles go top 10, and then the 2 guards go mid-late teens through 20's.

I had thought there were three payers that were constantly being projected in the top 12 that didn't belong there, Mingo, Moore, and Ogletree..So they might move down, there are 5 Olineman that when its all done, do belong in the top 15, Fisher, Johnson, Joeckel, Cooper, Warmack..CK made an excellent call early in the process on Johnson, and imo was right, I think he has the most upside and love the demeanor, if staley from the niners is your new prototype than Johnson should fit right in, Joeckel is a little under developed, but very good, and Fisher is a real nice looking tackle, like you said Dafins, real solid technique, plug and play day 1 with no worries, all five, plug and play with no worries except which one will make the probowl first, I don't see much difference between Joeckel and fisher, but there's something about Johnson that has an edge, a move athlete playing the position..

Warmack and Cooper are also neck and neck to me, once again, one is a moving stud and the other is a complete mauler, whichever you prefer along your line, it's all good, two deserving top 15 guards.

Drafting Cooper would allow Miami to move John Jerry out to right tackle and keep Jonathan Martin at left tackle if they do not resign Jake Long.

I like Cooper as well. Seems very athletic and did get a great bench - so he has the strength (though his arm length is not as great as Warmack's - 33 to 34 1/2). But, if he builds up his base - he could be just as tough. What I like about drafting a spot like that is it is, as you note DJ, a "plug and play." I haven't really liked our guard play for several years; seems at best to only approach mediocre.

Might be the most wide-open draft I can remember.

There are some linemen falling after the combine, but I think there are some rising too. I think common beleif is that both Jordan and Ansah will be top 10 picks. I'd also be pretty shocked if Joekel or Fisher got to 12, and I think Johson is 50/50 to be there. If the Dolphins can move back and get Cooper that could be a very good move if they've already gotten a veteran QB.

Ansah certainly looked good, but if we're going on athletic ability what about Corenelious Washington? I never expected that- 4.50 40 in one of his runs, 4.53 in the other? 36 reps for Washington?. Ansah moved the best among the DEs imo, fast and very smooth, great change of direction- after seeing that I think that he could play 3/4 OLB, but he's a DE imo. He still has to show a competent pass rush though, that problem remains. His athletic ability was a known quantity, I really don't see him as a lock for the top 10 however.

Still not sure why Washington was moved to OLB- plenty of questions as to why he didn't produce more, legitimate questions imo after showing off his great athletic ability. 22 tackles and 1/2 sack if I saw right? I absolutely love the athletic ability he showed and that was a big surprise just as Moore's lousy performance was- any Georgia/SEC fans or anyone else have an idea as to why he produced so little? Scheme issues, anything? So easy to be enamored with how outstanding he looked physically and athletically, but 2 tackles per game and 1/2 sack for the whole season is tough to figure out for a guy so physically talented, big warning bell.

Yup, I think Martin showed that his coordination is better in the left, and if the kid has any chance of making it, we better take any advantage we can get..Im holding out hope for Jake to get signed, and move Martin to guard, it's jmo, I don't think he has what it takes to protect a young Qb.

I think when it comes to these olineman DF you will get even better than plug and play..There's so mush talent, I can't remember a draft this deep in Olineman with such little risk, throw in Menelik watson in there a bit later..

Since Jeff Ireland has been here we haven't drafted a WR or TE in the first two rounds. We need receivers BADLY. And there are some very good ones available. If we draft an OL guy in the first round instead of addressing the passing game with a WR, TE or even CN who can maybe make some turnovers for us I'm going to lose my mind. We have spent years and years overhauling the OL. We need to give some love to the receiving corps.
