The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly interested in Sean Smith, according to CSN Philly's Geoff Mosher, as they prepare to let go a pair of highly regarded cornerbacks. "That leaves an opening for Smith, a fourth-year cornerback who has spent his entire career with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins weren't interested in giving him the $8-$10 million he wanted this offseason, and the Eagles aren't either. The reports say that they only want Smith "at the right price," but they are reportedly looking at the cornerback. It's somewhat surprising Smith feels he can demand such a high price on the open market considering he gave up more touchdowns and first downs than any cornerback in the league last season, but with Brandon Carr and Jason McCourty getting $50 million and $43 million deals over five years, respectively, the market is high for cornerbacks. Perhaps the Eagles will pay up for the 6'3 Smith." " at the right price" Thought that was pretty funny..Not sure why they would have interest, he's not a complete corner, and all their fans know that's exactly what they had in both their corners last year..
Yeah holy lord. DRC? Yuck. Maybe as a #2 CB and I'm still not happy with it. Bring me Chris Houston for the #2 CB spot, interim #1 spot, while we bring Millner up to snuff. Oh god wishful thinking
I guess I view Patterson as a nickel cornerback and I don't mind him for that reason. Then again I feel like we currently have two nickels (Patterson/Marshall), a dime (Carroll), and a bunch of developmental guys on the roster as far as cornerbacks go. I view Smith as a good #2 CB personally but who knows if he returns.
I think that teams have learned a bit from the outrageous deals some of these CBs have gotten recently. Hopefully we can keep Sean Smith for a reasonable price, I just don't see teams breaking out 10-15 million a year deals for these guys anymore, there are maybe one or two CBs out there worth that kind of money, maybe.
I live in Philly, and I see DRC each week. Honestly, the guy has shut-down potential. There are games where you don't hear his name once because the guy he's defending isn't getting thrown to. On the flip side, his issue is his motivation...He's not a leader. I feel he's a guy who needs someone to kick him in the butt each game to help him produce the way he can. He is a sure-fire upgrade over SS, I don't care what stats may say. This is based upon watching each player on a weekly basis.
Yep,I live in delaware and agree with you.He could be a great player if he wants to be just needs motivation but eaiser said than done.
Who may interest us more as he is more at home in zone coverage rather than man to man. We play a good bit of zone, which is somewhat of a different skill set - mentally. Physically they are predominantly the same aside from speed, which is at a bit more of a premium in man to man, but mentally zone requires a heady player. Porter to me has the smarts to do it.
I for one, was thoroughly disappointed at SS24's play last year. After the Arizona game he just went down the tubes! Slow reaction time, and can't find the ball in the air. Consistently out of position. I'd put his value about equal with resigning Will Allen... I say sign old man Charles Woodson and draft one or two for him to groom.
DRC at times looks to be running away from tackles. If he wasn't fast no one would even be considering him. He's been awful since 2009. Arizona knew it, hence why they unloaded him. The Eagles seem to know it seeing that they need help in the secondary and don't seem to be trying to resign him. Hell, they're considering replacing him with Smith and we know all too well about his deficiencies. Stay away from DRC. He's vastly overrated due to his speed and where he was drafted
So from the "dumb as rocks" category, we have Vontae Davis...... (whispering) psssst Vonate bro, players arent supposed to be "talking" to other teams until the season officially starts.....
why else is he going to say? yes my client is talking to the Chiefs..... I absolutely believe Vonate in this situation...
Yes Vontae we believe someone hacked your twitter account for a few minutes with the intention of saying something like that, then did not post anything else. I cant wait til some photo surfaces of Vontae and Sean hanging out with a 2-26 or 2-27 time stamp on it.
And for Long, and for Bush, and for Moore..... but nooooooo we dont want to give off a bad message to the fans, even though in the end Ireland knows he doesn't want any of those guys.....
