or the commish can just sit in a thread with tiered players and have everyone go at them, so every day you get a new tier or grouping of ten guys that are bidded on. When teams start to lose cap space it leaves it open for those that saved up money. It creates intrigue and strategy as each day do you spend your alloted amount on a couple guys or try to win strategically with others.
I get sometimes there are circumstances where sometimes you get a guy bid on and bid someone up late, but when you're doing it within the last 30 mins it's a little ridiculous and frustrating. On a brighter note, the Texans are happy to welcome Kyle Cook, a solid veteran center who has been a starter in the NFL.
Agreed, it just happened to me on Terrence McGee but what can we do? Its annoying as hell but legal I guess. As long as someone isnt doing it just to be a douche.... And the Seahawks welcome Chad Henne at $501,000 to be their #2 QB. nothing happens to Russell Wilson lol
Believe me this was my argument last year and probably had something to do with why some of the rules are different this year with less slots and shorter time.
Yeah, I know it's not against the rules, but I just think it's common courtesy. We are all friends here (mostly). After you outbid me on Uche (which I wasn't mad at you about), I wanted to bid on Deihl, but it was within an hour and didn't want to be a jerk, even though it was Schisno. I do get that there are circumstances where you have to do it, but I just think some people should be paying attention and trying not to do it to anyone. Maybe I'm just venting a bit because I lost two guys that were less than 30 mins from being mine on the very first night.
Let's be honest here, there aren't too many forums like this one that I've come across. Everything, for the most part, is well organized. So if you ask me, I enjoy it and take it at least somewhat seriously. It's all in good fun. But with you intentionally bidding up a guy who you don't even want 10 minuets before someone signs him is a dick move. And it's not even like he's a big named player either. So, with you saying that "it's strategy" but at the same time saying other people take it too seriously would be a contradiction.
The only part I didn't like about what you did was you bid on bench guys then cut them immediately after signing them. You basically want to force them to spend the extra 500K if they want to be able to cut the player just in case.
Anddddd here we go. Yearly Feud of the year contestant: Whoever got bid up in the final hour vs whoever bid up the other player in the final hour
Seattle welcomes Laurent Robinson to their team for 1M. The receiver needy Seahawks needed a redzone target and found one in Robinson.
This is just an assumption on your part like I don't look at each player on the list. Have you been keeping track of who I've been biding on, and how I've done it? When I placed the bid on Barclay I had an opening right at the minute you know like I actually targeted him. Prior to that I had all five spots taken up by Burleson, Succop, Diehl, Reynolds, Prosinksi. Then I placed a bid on both Barclay and Pears when my two spots opened up. Both bids fit into the strategy of getting guys who started games this season for an amount that left me the flexibility to cut them if someone better came along. So I would hardly call it doing it on purpose just to be a "dick". The biggest jerk move here is just assuming.
Jacksonville Jaguars would like to welcome: FB Montell Owens DT/DE Red Bryant (CHECK THAT OUT MIAMI WRs!!)
The Bills would like to welcome: QB Kevin Kolb (Seemed like he was getting it together in Arizona when his OL got him killed. 8 Td's/3 Int's. Positive PFF rating) WR Josh Morgan (Will compete with TJ Graham for the #2 spot) K - Josh Scobee and Punter Andy Lee
Bengals would like to welcome QB Matt Cassell who goes from one of the worst starting QBs in the league with no talent around him, to the best backup in the league with the best receiver tandem in the NFL.
Looks like I bid some people up late and it upset them. Just know that with only 5 bids available and more than 5 players I like I will more than likely be bidding the player again. Trying to use my bids strategically and bidding on people right before the 24hrs it part of that. Keep in mind if a guy is 10mins away from being awarded to you, he is not your player anymore than he is a FA, so suck it up and enjoy the game
Ya know what I like most about this game? Every single owner thinks they're a ****in football genius lmao "Ya... LA Bumticklers just signed Donovan McNabb for 50 bucks. He threw for 8000 yards in 2005 and has a positive rating on BBB. Championship!" And yes, I'm just as bad as the next guy
Seattle welcomes back Kicker Rian Lindell and thanks him for being a team player and taking a paycut.
Be thankful you didn't. Horrible.............HORRIBLE tackle. Oh I've made mistakes (*cough*TradingforWebster*cough*) such as bidding to $6.5 million on Tyson Jackson (hence why I made it clear I wasn't bidding higher on it...hoping Sean would put in one last bid and help me correct that mistake ;p )..but I feel I got some deals along the way. Proud of getting Eugene Monroe for basically a swap of Cordy Glenn and a 5th. That took me over 2 weeks to pull off and working with Bdog's gm sidekick ;p Getting Kolb for $750k is nice. Seriously he was playing well until his OL got him killed. Might still be a future there. Smaller moves like getting Andy Lee (#4 pff rated punter by a nose over Fields). Kicker for under a million who has 89.3 and 92% of kicks as opposed to the -4.1 rated Rian Lindell who must have f'd PFF's mom for that rating. For being new to this...I'm having quite a bit of fun. Cut way down on my Guild Wars 2 time doing this lol
my turn to vent... I'm not going to lay out exactly what I don't like about how some people bid... but suffice it to say, if you are interested in a player, and there's been plenty of bidding, I like the GM's that come in and throw down a respectable #, that says "here's my bid, you ****ers doing your own strategy can suck my johnson, and I don't mean calvin, because I don't have calvin... and if I did, I wouldn't be bidding on this guy"
yeah, Hester... that guy... I'm more like the fat guy that says... "here's a thirty dollar bill right here"...
Redskins welcome WR Jeremy Ross. I can't believe this guy was cut. Even more shocked I got him for only $500K.
It's still a dick move. If you want to do it, there is nothing in the rules against it, but I don't do that unless it's to someone who's already done it to me.
this is true... and then you min raised like you were playing a game of LIMIT texas hold em.... go ALL IN!!
I get that. It's one thing to do it with an hour or two left. It's another to do it with like 20 mins though. It is what it is though. I'm not going to lose sleep over it or anything. I was just letting my opinion be known.
