That'd be awesome to get a 4th round compensatory.

Someone posted a link to a web site a month or so ago where they calculate comp picks based on knowledge of the NFL's formula for doing so. They have a very good record for guessing who gets what comp picks. The web site predicted we'd get a 4th rounder for Langford. I'll be surprised if we get anything less.

Yah this was discussed back in January. The chances of us getting a 4 are a bit low. He's basing his work off that Adam guy but he doesn't have all the details. Now if Adam comes out and says the 4th I'll believe it then. I've seen reports of 4th/6th and 7th so far.

They'll announce the comp picks final week of March.

Edit: Mr Clean it was that site. However he is basing it off Adam's work without knowing the full details. Adam should hopefully speak up in the next week or so.

Links to the damn Sun-Sentinel are a waste for many of us. Since you have to pay to access it or jump through hoops to get around their pay wall.

    Just turn on private browsing.

    https://twitter.com/AdamJT13

That will be the true guy to follow when he starts up. He's been doing it for a long time now and that blog is basing their picks off his work.

The Link the Sentinel is using is: http://bloggingthebeast.com/2013/01/27/2013-nfl-compensatory-pick-projections/

Just a word of warning that...that 4th rounder is a long shot. It will take some unknown factors to swing our way.

True but it would make it easier to get rid of some of our other picks to move up.

    A 4th? Awesome.

Walking into the draft with a 1st, two 2nd's, two 3rd's and two 4th's make us players for the first time in a long time.

I'd LOVE to see us pull a Patriots and trade one of those for the higher round pick the following year. Turn one of those 3rd's or 4th's into the higher round pick in 2014.

Just reading the link for bloggingthebeast.com it does not sound like a long shot to me. It seems to me it would be more surprising if we do not get a 4th.

He's not working with the full info either. Even then these guys aren't fully right. They whiff on some and are off by a round a bit. That's why I'll wait till Adam posts, but even he gets a few wrong.

The problem with his reasoning is off thugh. The Marshall trade does not effect comp picks only guys we lost to FA.

C.T.'s track record was pretty good in 2011. If he says a 4th, then while it's not 100% certain, I'd say the odds favor us getting a 4th.

Fourth round seems high for Langford, since the highest possible is a third. A 5th would be nice, though. Next year, we could see a 3rd for sure if we let guys walk.

Even if we get a fourth are you confident in Ireland drafting any talent? You knoe the guy who drafted Ginn Jr,Pat White , Pat Turner,John Beck, Chad Henne, yes that guy.

yeah, another pick will be nice but....

there's a slight problem with this. we have 45 mil to spend and if we bring in wallace, jennings, bowe or any big ticket FA, which of our own FA will command like contracts? i'm not holding my breath that the rest of the league loses game tape of our FA and throws a bunch of cash their way.

As Byroan pointed out, he didn't draft Beck and Ginn.

Personally, I don't have the greatest confidence in Ireland either. But successful 4th round picks are never a guarantee to begin with, and Jeff has seemingly done a good job with Hartline and Miller. An extra 4th round pick just enhances the chance you might land somebody that can contribute.

Quite frankly, if there's anything I'm a bit nervous about it's Ireland and 2nd rounders.

Ireland also gets A LOT of credit for trading away welker... I'm pretty sure he drafted jamar fletcher and Cecil Collins too. Shot Bambi's mom, the list goes on.

It used to be that we couldn't use a 1st rounder worth a damn. Over a ten year span before tuna got here we basically had Rickey, Ronnie and Carey to show for our 1st rounders. Ireland's rep with 2nd rounders is shaky. We have 2 this year and need atleast 1 of those players to be a big hit for once. I think his job could hinge on his success in rounds 2-3. Anyone can throw cash at a free agent to play in Miami.

Ok, this is too much...now I will join the dark side and become a Ireland hater because of that poor Bambi....I mean that deer has been devastated since her mom was shot...LOL Good point Phinsanity...everything that has happened since the undefeated season is his fault, per some on these boards...

Well, we better draft very good, come 2015 we have a ton of our own players we will need to sign, so draft well and spend wisely this year.

That would be impressively awesome to have 2-2nds, 2-3rds, and 2-4ths to compliment our one first rounder.

The legend of Jeff Ireland grows. Adding players he didn't draft to make a point is a bit much.

It would be a miracle to me - it amazes me as well about the Pats and how the Dolphins NEVER get compensatory picks while so many other teams do - but if we got a 4th rounder .... near NIRVANA.
