I believe when you were making your comparisons, I came back with I don't think their as close as what you were saying, then after that we just kep taking lil shots at each other, which I was and am having fun with, I thought you were too.

DJ I have to defer to you on that, I don't have the time right now to follow the combine / draft as much as I'd like to because of a sick mother-in-law and her distraught daughter (my wife). Times are hard right now.

I do know that what I saw from Eifert was amazing and I LOATHE Notre Dame, but I want that guy badly on the Dolphins - just not at # 12. But if we could turn some of those extra picks into a late 20's 1st rounder, and Eifert is there for the taking - Ireland needs to grab him.

Maybe it is due to poor QB play, but I seldom noticed Eifert making a lot of YAC. He often had to extend himself to make such an acrobatic catch, he wasn't able to keep his feet and gain anything afterward. Ertz seemed like he was more often hit in stride and able to run a little. I'd really like to know how their YAC yards compared. I saw that Ertz had double drop pct which didn't make me happy. I expect he maybe better in YAC though. Actually the more I watch Escobar, I'd be just as happy with him. I think he has better softer more natural hands than any TE in the draft. He runs pretty well in the open field too.

as long as Hunter's legs are good, i would rather just draft him in the 2d ... has everything Patterson has and MORE!!

i'd take him without blinking an eye ... explosive, fast and several years at TEN!!

Those first few plays in the BCS game were part of what has me starting to come around on Eifert. I still don't see him in the same exalted light that you do, but he's starting to win me over. The irony is that the things I saw in those first few BCS game plays are things that I think Fasano is pretty good and underrated at. Yes, I know people will laugh at that and insist that Fasano is an unathletic, white stiff. But he's not. He's made some great catches in traffic over the last few years.

The first play, the one at :28 and the one at 2:21 are some examples. The TD against the Jets at the end of the 2008 season also comes to mind. This one against the Jets is similar to one of the near-catches by Eifert in the BCS game, but Fasano actually caught this one. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap1000000065057/WK3-Can-t-Miss-Play-Fasano-holds-on. The TD from the SF game this past year also showed great concentration and body control. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-...t-Miss-Play-Fasano-makes-49ers-swim-in-misery.

And physically and athletically, the gap between Eifert and Fasano is not as big as some may think:

    Height

    Eifert - 6-6
    Fasano - 6-4

    Weight

    Eifert - 250
    Fasano - 259

    40 Yd

    Eifert - 4-68
    Fasano- 4.72

    Vertical

    Eifert - 35.5
    Fasano - 33.5

    Broad jump

    Eifert - 9' 11'
    Fasano - 9' 4"

    Shuttle

    Eifert - 4.32
    Fasano - 4.34

    3-Cone

    Eifert - 6.92
    Fasano - 6.94

Eifert is a little better athlete but the gap is not that great. And Fasano is a much better blocker.

You don't have to sell me on Fasano, I want him back, I too think he's more athletic then people give him credit for, can contort and twist his body into athletic positions to make great catches, has very good hands as well..he's just not quick and not fast.but everything is very good..

I think he and Eifert would be perfect...your not sacrificing to much In blocking if you draft him, he's pretty good at it and obviously brings all the other good stuff to the table that would compliment Fasano.

Only other tight end I had rated higher is Gronk in that past few years, and I was very high on Dwayne Allen who is going to become a very good player, already has.

I have no idea if he is dumb or not, but the fact he played two years at a community college before attending Tennessee last year was probably due to his lack of grades coming out of high school.
The Dolphins drafted Egnew last year at TE and he has had trouble picking up the offense. I think if there is any doubt in regards to Patterson's ability to learn the offense, the Dolphins should pass on him in the first round of the draft.

The Dolphins need an immediate impact player from the 12th pick in the draft and I think Patterson is a huge question mark after playing only one year of major college football. . He just isn't worth the risk for a team that can't afford anymore misses in the early rounds of the draft, especially in the first round.

I am not a big Fasano fan, but I would have no problem with him as the blocking TE and Eifert as the primary TE receiver for the Dolphins. I think Eifert will have a better NFL career than any of the wide receivers in this draft class and I would be extremely happy if he is the first round pick of the Dolphins.
