Patriots to replace Vollmer. They are very good at making O-Linemen look incredible.

They had about $27 million in space before Brady's renegotiation IIRC.

Should really make you think how good that team is run when they can have ~$9 million less in cap space than us after back to back AFC Championships including a Super Bowl appearance.

If we don't resign him I'd like to see him go to Zona. I hope they draft Matt Barkley, whom I like, and it would be good if Barkley does not get beat to a pulp as a rookie.

Chicago or GB could be logical given their OL issues.

I doubt they'd offer him, but Indianapolis. They could move Castonzo to RT to replace Winston Justice, who is a free agent. It'd give Andrew Luck some nice protection.

How many of those teams can afford an 11M T??

    Not Chic, Det, or Arizona.

    I think Indy makes sense.

Big Jake won't have problems finding a new home. Maybe not as much as he wants but I also think he wants to go to a playoff team. I just hope it is out of our division.

I say he ends up in Indy. They have cap space and Luck was the most hit qb last year. It makes a ton of sense.

Raiders... to be reunited with Sparano. Although Veldheer is solid at left tackle...

Although its the agents that want to demand too much money. If Jake prices himself out of returning to Miami, he is playing for money and not worried about returning. Therefore, I don't care where he goes. At that point he is just another player.

    Once again.............my sig is relevant.

So you don't care if you can make a lot more money at another job? I guess you would rather stay put and turn down a larger salary somewhere else.

I don't think Long is worth the money he appears to want in free agency, but I certainly can't fault him for leaving the Dolphins if another organization is willing to pay him more than the Dolphins are willing to pay him.

I've got news for you. There isn't a player in the NFL who isn't playing for the money. NFL careers are far too short for a player to be worried about giving the home team a discount price for his services.

Bingo, Yahtzee, Winner. Loyality, on both sides ownership and players, no longer exists unless of course the player is healthy and scores many many points for the team. In which case it still goes back to, the money end of things. Cannot fault or hold blame to any player going to the team that pays him the most money. No different then life.

I bet you do not see the 49ers or the Seahawks giving Kapertnik or Wilson 50 million dollar raises this year due to loyality of getting them to the playoffs of SB.

I didn't say he couldn't go elsewhere. I just won't put players on a pedestal.
You say there aren't ANY players that would play for less money? I say you might want to look at Matt Moore. I bet he could have gotten more money as a FA. He didn't go that way. Why not? Apparently, there is something going on here that he likes and was willing to stay instead of testing the market. They are few and far between, but they are out there.

Chicago is top 10 is salary cap space. If they can restructure some vet contracts, Jake Long would be a nice fit there. And they are a playoff caliber team, just an inch away.

I say Arizona where he can protect the blindside for Carson Palmer. I also see Arizona taking a QB at 7. Barkley or Geno

My guess is Chicago, or Indy..... possibly Detroit, but I doubt it.

Wouldnt be surprised if he wants to come back closer to home.

What is the Cards cap number now? They've cut Wilson and Gay so they must be making room to do something.

As of this very moment, taking into account the cuts you mentioned. The Cards have a goats pubic hair below 12 million in cap space.

If they wanted to sign Jake it would need to be a highly backloaded contract, and even then probably not doable.

No, AZ cannot afford him and doubt Jake would take a back loaded contract. AZ needs so much on offense, QB RB Oline, an entire Oline.

Well, not to be contrite but a) the cardinals, like any other team can make room to sign even Jake.
    b) it's widely rumored that Oakland is going to either restructure or release Palmer (who's scheduled to make $13m this year) and a logical landing place for him, since Arizona is last years' Miami Dolphins (you know, has no semblance of a QB on their roster and in dire need of a QB) obviously, if he'll agree to take less money....
    c) it's conjecture but it's very logical conjecture and made sense to most of us...

OT: As to Long, it's such a crap shoot to let him go, despite his injury issues that curtailed his production. If healthy he's in the top 3 or 4 LTs in the league. His time here is over, barring a significant change in his demands so where he goes would only matter to me if it's back in the AFCE...He might fit nicely in Atlanta, who might look his way with Baker as the incumbent there...don't know if they have the cap space, but he might help them balance the run and pass a bit more...

I don't think Moore would have gotten more money to be a backup on any other team in the NFL. He obviously didn't think he has a chance of competing for a starting job anywhere in the league and the Dolphins offered him a substantial amount of money to stand on the sideline and wait for Tannehill to possibly get hurt. With this contract Moore is reported to be one of the hiest paid backups in the entire NFL.

So I do think that while he may be happy in Miami, he just became a whole lot happier knowing he is getting a lot of money from the Dolphins.

Sparano went to Oakland, right? How is there cap situation. Didn't they just release a lot of vets?

  35. Hurricane

Why not Jacksonville? It lets them go D or trade back at 2?

They have the cap space and a serious need.

I'm sure Jake wouldn't mind a state income tax-free paycheck and playing in the 70's.
