Here is a breakdown by Football Outsiders of a few of the free agent tackles including Jake Long. It's not CK-depth but I still found it interesting. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/word-muth/2013/word-muth-free-agent-tackles-part-ii Edit: Here is a link to the first breakdown in the series. They broke down Vollmer, Andre Smith, and Brandon Albert. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/word-muth/2013/word-muth-free-agent-tackles-part-i
Also a great picture in the last one of Jonathan Martins guy running past him like he was a ghost. I do not want to dump the mother load on Jake but personally I have little faith in Martin being a very good LT. What you see Jake doing in the photo is a bad game for him which equates to a regular game for Martin.
Maybe we've been spoiled a little because Long was so good as a rookie, and 18 years before, Webb was so good as a rookie. I do not think that is the norm though. I'm pretty sure Texans fans had as little faith in Duane Brown after his rookie season as most of us have in Martin. After a couple of seasons, 3 actually, he evolved into currently IMO the best LT in football. For the time being, I'm just going to remain optimist that Martin can develop similarly to Brown.
I hope he does also. Its just at this point in time I do not have the faith yet and yes, we were spoiled. I can say one thing with all honestly. After watching the games over and over it did appear Incognito did not have to go out that much to help Martin as he did to help Jake. Just may be me but did notice that.
The ideal scenario for our o-line. 1) Resign Long for 8-9 mill/yr for 4 yrs 2) Keep Martin at RT and see if he can be our LT in the next 2-3 yrs 3) Draft Warmack at 12 4) o-line 2013...Long-Incognito-Pouncey-Warmack-Martin If the offense can't run effectively behind that o-line than I fukin give up!!!
Wow, that says something in itself. He did not have to constantly go out and knock Longs guy down. I impressed myself then
