this is also true.. there are so many variables... and then when you include the wavering officials, it makes a 7 game series IMPOSSIBLE to predict!

True but neither had a big game. Atleast KG and Pierce scored more than 20. Gasol is having fits with Bostons defense. I'll admit Gasol had 2 huge parts in that 4th quarter. Boston needs to learn how to box out. Honestly I don't think Odom will preform big against Boston. He might have a middle of the road type game but thats it.

Why is everyone only bringing up the fact that Kobe and Sasha were the only ones to come to play in game 3 and that L.A. can't expect Pierce and KG to be so bad going forward? Do you really expect Lamar and Pau to play as bad as they did in game 3? Fisher?

The point is, both teams had pretty bad shooting nights and off nights at the line as well. I really wouldn't expect either team to come out shooting like they did in game 3. These games have been closer than people seem to want to realize. Game 2 came down to, in my opinion, a horribily officiated game that, had it been even a tad more even, would have spelled disaster for Boston. Game 1 was a tightly contested matchup for most of the night and ended up coming down to free throws late in the game which Boston made.

I really think Game 4 will be more of the same in that neither team will pull too far away from the other.

I think that there is a better chance that we will see a repeat performance of a Pau and Odom Game 3 than a Pierce and KG Game 3. For two reasons. 1, KG and Pierce are better. 2, Kobe has lost trust in his teammates and will try to take the team on his shoulders which consequently will keep Odom and Gasol off their games completely. Inferring speculation of course

ALSO let me add that if the free throw disparity was less lopsided in Game 2 then it would have been more like Game 1 with the W going to Boston still, because they were at home. That is the only logical scenario to go by with this type of speculation, IMO.

Is it possible for both teams to lose?

I think that would be best.

What would be best is for this series to go 7 games so that you can endure maximum BOSTON CELTICS and LA LAKERS exposure. And then for it to happen again next year. hahahahhahaha. You must hate this series so much.

The issue with that is LA fans have been waiting 3 games for Gasol and Odom to show up.

No game 2 was a blow out the C's just played laid back when they were up by 24 points. If Boston was up by 10 or 12 LA wouldn't have scored 41 points in the 4th....

I think Boston will win either game 4 or 5. My money is on game 4.

If LA is banking on Odom snapping out of this they're screwed. The guy cant handle pressure so we shouldnt really be surprised that he's shriveled in the face of it here.

I dont think LA is depending on Odom for much more then a third option or a rebounder.

Any one of Gasol, Odom, and Fisher (Bynum when he comes back next year) can step up. It's a game-by-game basis outside of Kobe.

The Celtics went without Ray Allen until about the 5th game of the ECF. Since then, he has been lights out. KG has been off since the second half of game 1.

The point being, good and great players have times where they go into slumps. It also means that they can snap out of it at any given time. If you watched Lamar late in the game Tuesday, you saw him being much more aggresive going towards the hoop. He spent the majority of the game out deep and not even looking for his shot.

Granted, when he finally figured out that he could get to the bucket, he had a heck of a time getting the ball to go in, but it did lead to 2nd chance points for Gasol and I think it helped instill some confidence in Lamar that he didn't have before. He now knows that he can get to the hoop and more likely than not, those layups will drop in at a better clip.

Pau is who they really need to get established though. He had a great start to game 2 and didn't seem to look for his shot at all in game 3. I would like to see both he and Lamar attack early in game 4 and make Boston come out and defend them. That will open it up for Kobe to drive and shoot or kick out to the shooters.

And I think if any game is going to be winnable for Boston it is going to be game 5. My thought is this, Pierce is (allegedly) banged up, Rondo is hurt and Allen and KG are older bodies coming off of only one day's rest for Game 4. Game 5 isn't until Sunday which gives the C's an extra day of rest and more time to heal going into that game.

The problem for them is that L.A. is an extremely streaky team. If they are able to even the series, they may just kick it into overdrive and not look back. Either way, I agree with pundits like Bill Simmons (who, judging by the level of pettiness and hatred being spat out in his recent column, is nervous) that game 4 should be an epic battle. Both teams have played sloppy and it came to a head in game 3. Look for both to buckle down, make their adjustments and come out strong in the first quarter.

In fact, I will go so far as to predict that one team or the other will have a 30 point first quarter.

    Good read.

Boston should be concerned with all these injuries piling up. Game 4 IMO is going to come down to the last possession. I still think Boston wins game 4

They do it because that's their job. They dont make money if people dont watch them. You cant really overhype a traditional matchup like Boston, LA too much IMO.

Boston by 2 tonight. I think KG chimes in 28 while Ray Allen has 23. I think Perk has a strong game while Pierce struggles. Kobe is going to be solid for LA again but he wont get to the line as much as he did, Kobe drops 33.

I don't want to see any B.S. from the officials tonight. I think the refs did a fine job of "evening the score" in Game 3, when the Lakers went on that 20-2 FT run to make up for the 18-2 run Boston had in Game 2.

Let 'em play tonight. It's the NBA Finals.......

I am pulling for Boston due to the system overload on the outrageous Lakers bandwagon.

You could make a case that Kobe fouled KG. However do remember that in the NBA if a defender hits the ball handlers hand while it is on the ball, it is considered part of the ball. On the replay, Kobe hits nothing but KG's hand while it is on the ball.

Oh and I feel like a genius with the Lamar going to the hoop talk I have been saying since the end of game 3. :D

Boston has absolutely OWNED the third quarter, which means L.A. needs to push it even further in the second. I expect Boston to make another push here soon.

KG looks awful in his limited time tonight. He has missed more layups and now that Lamar is driving on him, he is hacking away. Boston will need to adjust.

I fail to see the hype with Rajon Rondo. He's basically a slightly better Keyon Dooling to me. I've never seen a guard who lacks as much confidence in his jumpshot as this kid. It's pretty pathetic.

His confidence seems to be shattered, and he looks beyond confused with the ball in his hands in pressure situations. I don't think he'll ever be anything more than an average starting PG on a team with three all-stars. But then again, that's probably all Boston needs out of him.

My only issue is the fact that people on RealGM and other forums hail Rondo as a future All-Star.

Rondo's body type actually reminds me of Monta Ellis. The talent and quickness isn't as great, but the boy can play. Right now he is, at best the fourth scoring option on a team. I would hate to take a shot, miss it and have to turn around and see KG, Pierce and Ray Allen staring back at me.

I assume that goes through his head. However, even I, as a Lakers fan shook my head when Rondo passed on an OPEN layup to kick out for a three pointer. Granted, the three dropped in, but that is trading a high % shot for a rather low one, and that is never smart.

I think Eddie House is their best option right now as he at least keeps Kobe honest on defense.

Off topic: What a great buzzer beater by Farmar to end the half. Big swing in momentum going into the second half and a huge point swing as 18 points is much more daunting than 15 to overcome.
