So many db's becoming available, i love it. We were already kids in a candy store.... its turning into a candy mega-outlet. At worst, it drives down the cost to retain Smith and Clemons..... but it more likely gives us a better chance to upgrade those spots.

How about a Wallace less approach. Bennett at tight end, Gibson at wr, Grimes at cb. Maybe sign a OT like Winston. You could do all this with money on one man, and you could draft some speed. Get a Austin or even Patterson. I am warming up to the idea of not getting Wallace, but I don't think that is the case with Ireland.

You watched Aaron Ross in two Super Bowls.

Dawan Landry is worth a look, just as he was when he was an FA a couple of years ago.

Very surprised that SD didn't tender DX at a 1 or 2. There should be a lot of teams waiting to snag him.

I'm all for not signing guys w really bad injury histories, but his ceiling is way too high and he's still too young not to roll the dice on, imo.

"The Chiefs, after signing cornerback Dunta Robinson, no longer have interest in Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith, per a league source.
Robinson is believed to be getting starter money from the Chiefs. With Brandon Flower doing the same, paying Smith top-of-market money no longer makes sense.
Kansas City’s interest in Smith was one of the few nuggets of information that emerged after the legal non-tampering tampering period opened at midnight.
If, of course, Smith overplays his hand and doesn’t do a deal before the market softens, the Chiefs potentially could become interested again — at a lower rate."

0 for 1 Sean, one front office doesn't think your worth it..

The W.P.A. stat on their employment clearly has them as being former Jaguars.

Whether he's worth it or not Smith is going to get paid. He seems to be getting more attention than any FA

I think the Dolphins should certainly have a periscope up about receivers further down the market than Jennings/Wallace, and Brandon Gibson seems like a pretty good choice. If you're rotating receivers and running mostly a 3-wide offense you can get four guys pretty solid snap counts, and if they can get a good price for another guy, it's a good idea.

Danario Alexander having no compensation as a RFA piques my interest. If you can get him cheaply and already are working with good depth, I think the injury issues are nowhere near as prominent.

@BenVolinPBP: #Dolphins offered a low RFA tender to LB Austin Spitler for $1.323m and ERFA tenders to QB Pat Devlin $480k and CB RJ Stanford $630k

The pricetag is crazy, imo. Can you imagine if we still got Wallace or Jennings and added DX anyway? That'd be ridiculous. Throw in a moderate deal for a TE like Myers and you're stacked for Tanny.

Scary though bc you can easily see NE doing something similar w all the WRs floating around.

I think a priority should be to sign 1 of these guys:
    Andre Smith
    Jake Long
    Sebastian Vollmer
    Eric Winston
    Gosder Cherilus
    Phil Loadholt
    Jermon Bushrod
    Sam Baker

I think it's probably pretty unlikely though, further movement I'd think would come in the draft rather than free agency. Can't see them pushing Armon Binns or Rishard Matthews off the roster that quickly either.

Well if they're already talking to guys like Gibson then someone might be going either way.

I'll be surprised if Alexander stays in SD.

I watched a bit of Ross and kind of liked him, but it was very limited. He just signed a cheap 3 year contact with Jax and they released him after one year. Normally I would take that as a red flag ... but it's Jacksonville.

Ross's biggest claim to fame is he has a hot wife who is a multiple gold medal winning Olympic athlete.

Apparently Miami is after Reshard Mendenhall. If healthy he's good compliment to Miller. That's a big if and he doesn't seem like the high character type that Philbin wants around...

When I read that Miami is looking at Gibson it actually makes me think Philbin is very much involved in the personnel side of things. Gibson is the kind of receiver you use in his offense. We all keep talking about an "alpha" receiver. We keep referring to a numbe one guy. I still think we are talking about interchangable parts. That does not mean speed is not necessary. And Wallace would be welcome, but I think I understand the differences in philosophy from Philbin/Sherman to the previous staffs. I sure hope Ireland is on the same page.

Even with his wrecked knees, Danario Alexander getting the "original round" tender from the Chargers raises an eyebrow. Several teams will be after him, IMO...and Miami ought to think about being one of them. On the other hand, I've taken a good look at Brandon Gibson, and I don't see much there to be interested in.

Ive been banging the drum on Alexander for years. I felt he was a high end talent coming out. Id try and give him a deal with little guaranteed money but enough overall to scare some teams away, particularly SD who isnt in a great cap situation now.
