well it always depends on the money. Unfortunately, for the Steelers point of view, he is best known for either being injured or fumbling in the super bowl.
I think he's a pretty good option. He's hopefully a bit cheaper due to recent issues and never living up to his draft status, but you can expect a solid production on a pretty good workload. I think there's a potential scheme upside. If I recall he was a zone guy in college and pretty good at the decision making aspects, and the Steelers have been an awful man blocking line?
that would be a disaster, i don't wanna put that much money in the RB position, a draft pick should be enough
First round talent at a decent price is usually a good idea. Worked well with Bush. Mendenhall and Miller make a good combo. Thomas for depth and ST, we'd be all set at RB. Keep crossing off the the checklist Irish.
if you can get him at a decent price, given we have two people playing on rookie contracts, I think you take that and run.
That's what I said about Bush two years ago and I was wrong. Like Paul said it all depends on the price. The Steelers are gonna be hurting this year. And we owe them for that BS Ben TD aka fumble.
look... this is a guy who is a one cut runner who has exceptional speed... like Dpate points out, could be a great fit for us.
Dolphins interested in Mendenhall? Solid move IMO if true. He'd be a decent complement to Miller. Had a down year last year and has been a bit banged up, but for a good price he'd be a guy I would be interested in.
don't you think he would at least command like 4-5 million ? maybe i'm wrong...forgive my ignorance, maybe it happened some time ago and i missed it....but who the heck made you a mod....
He does his fair share of dancing, not as much as Bush though. And when he gets good blocking consistently he can put up some big numbers. Very good out of the backfield as a receiver, good pass protector. Let him split carries with Miller and keep em both fresh for a full season. Miller and Thomas are playing for peanuts so $$$ isnt really an issue. I like the move.
I'm more hung up on his low averages. You can't teach speed. Bush is able to do what he does because he's usually the fastest guy on the field. With our line, I'm not quite sure Mendenhall would be ideal.
we'll just let you negotiate the contract... it's all good... these germans can be convincing... I saw Django Unchained.
Generally speaking people don't forget how to play football at 25. Not saying he's gonna light the world on fire here, but it wasn't that long ago he was considered in the upper tier of backs. Just watch some of his highlights from 2 years ago if you forgot how good he was/probably still is. To be honest I'm more concerned with his Bin Laden remarks than anything else. Could be a bad egg.
2-3 yrs for 10-15 would be fine IMO. Similar to what we gave Bush who isnt near as good of a runner. Thomas and Miller aren't exactly breaking the bank. Also with Tannehills small cap number it's much easier to go after Wallace wo getting into cap trouble. We're basically getting Mendenhall and Wallace for the price of Bush and Long.
I'd be pretty surprised if he cost very much. First of all there really aren't teams with a defined need at that position, and it's proven to be a position that's easy to fill if there were. And with his recent injuries and some better backs on the market I can't see him commanding more than $3M, and he might not even get that.
He ran a 4.4 at the combine and was regarded as the best back over Mcfadden by Mayock coming out of college. I don't think he needs to taught speed, he's been battling injuries. Before that he was one of the top backs in the league.
his first game back against philadelphia last season, he looked really good, hitting the hole hard and running with great speed and movement, i looked like a genius in my fantasy league after i had picked him up in my fantasy league the week before....after that he was pretty average
Our OL is underrated IMo. Teams were loading up to stop the run all season and we still had a decent running game. If we add Wallace and a decent TE we won't have that problem. Reggie Bush is fast but he's hesitant to ground out the tough yards and he got us into a lot of 2nd and longs. Mendenhall is a much better inside runner and we won't lose much in the pass game bc he is a damn good receiver and a better pass protector than Bush will ever be.
mod? god no... I just hijacked one of these fancy badge thingys. $4 to $5 is probably on the high end. I think more like $2.5 to $3.5.
He's German Austrian. His father is German and his mother is Austrian. Reading between the lines... he's German
If that's what it takes to sign him I'm cool with it. He's the best guy available IMO, Lacy is the only guy who is on his level and it'll cost us a 1st rounder to get him. If he comes in and doesn't get it done we can get rid of him. But he's 25 so if he has half a brain he will put his best foot forward for 2 years, as Bush did, and look for a big payday at 27.
