Hey guys, long time reader, hardly ever post! But being a South Carolina dolphin and a student at Carolina, was wondering if anyone here would prefer any gamecocks coming out, other than Clowney next year which would be a dream :shifty:.

    Coming out we got:

DJ Swearinger: Perhaps the hardest hitting safety and most under-rated defender in this class. Plays with a fiery mean streak at safety, and was described as a player that could be a "team leader" within two years regardless of his role by Kipler. Some mocks have him going late first, others have him 3-5 which is where I feel he fits because of his size. But looking past his size and being at every game the past 3 seasons, this kid loves to play ball. Would be a GREAT ST player until he can grow into his role. But like I said, a very hard hitter and has a unique skill of always making plays. A+ hands as well

Devin Taylor: NFL ready size and athleticism already at 6ft 8, 275 pounds. Excelled in his first 3 seasons at Carolina and was looked at as a pre-season first round pick, many said top 15. However it seemed like everyone was just waiting for him to break thru and have that dominant game, which he never had. Was over shadowed by Clowney all year and really struggled taking advantage of the extra attention on clowney. However, during his SR bowl he had 2 sacks, and 3 TFL and really came out of his shell. He then proclaimed he can be dominant when he can just "play" without techniques and adjustments to his style of play. Plus sides to his game in my opinion is his ability to stretch the field and stop the run around the corner. Also has great hands, having 3 picks in his career, one for a TD. Very RAW end, that with good professional development can be the biggest STEAL of the class in a couple years. Taylor is projected to go anywhere from the 2nd to 5th, depending on who wants to put in a little extra time to develop his game. Would love to see him in a Phin uniform as he is a class act that will never cause trouble. In fact, his nickname is "Dont say nothin" due to his personality.

Marcus Lattimore: Im sure everyone here knows this kids story. All time favorite college player in my opinion because this kid is so humble and works so hard. His career is plagued with injuries, but when he is on his game, he was projected to be a Top 15 pick. When healthy, this kid has it all. While his speed wont blow you away, he has the feet to create separation. Unbelievable power and led the SEC in broken tackles his freshman year. Carried the gamecocks himself to their first SEC Championship game and was the sole leader and inspiration of the team. Obv the downside is that he has had 2 season ending injuries in his 3 years. However he has bounced back yet again and has been checked by 30 team doctors and said to be healthy and well ahead of schedule. Could be a Willis situation when a team takes a chance in the first, but could go anywhere in the draft in my opinion. But like I said, when this kid his healthy, his drive is so hard that there is no question he could be a top back in the league. Would be pretty cool if he slips down and we could snag him up to battle with our young backs.

TJ Johnson: Hard nosed center and started EVERY game throughout his 4 years at Carolina. Very athletic as he played every position on the line at SC. Will be a late round selection.

Other interesting prospects include: K Adam Yates, DT Byron Jeridou, DT/DE Aldrick Forham, Spur/S Devonte Holloman (4 year starter), and CB Akeem Auguste

Ok guys, just for fun and discussion, would any of you perfer to take a shot at any of these Gamecocks?

    Thanks! go Dolphins!

Fellow Gamecock here, I would love to say hell yea on Latimore, but only as a late round pick. The guy definitely has the talent, but he does have the injury issue. I'm not sure if thats because Spurrier ran him into the ground or just injury prone but two season ending knee injuries is a big question mark.

Some people in the draft forums were mentioning that their favorite safety in the draft is Swearinger. I would be fine with taking him, but personally I say Jonathan Cyprien as a better Safety outside of the first round.

Any safety can be a hard hitter if they ditch proper tackling technique and instead opt for kill shots much of the time, of which they end up missing a handful of tackles b/c of it. Give me a sound wrap-up tackler who cares more about getting the ball carrier to the ground than knocking someone's block off. 4 years in a major program and he still doesn't know how to tackle properly? Seriously? IMO Swearinger plays reckless, and I don't see how a safety who spends time shying away from contact can be considered someone who plays with a fiery mean streak.
