SunSentinel Dolphins @SSMiamiDolphins Miami Dolphins targeting Jared Cook to upgrade tight end positionhttp://sunsent.nl/Xf73qt #NFL #Dolphins What do you guys think?
Love it. Makes a lot of sense since we don't have anyone who is a physical presence in the passing game. This also compensates for Wallace since he is not a physical receiver.
Sorry, can't have your cavier and eat it too. No chance we pick up both Cook and Wallace. We would have to bring people out of the stands and pay them league minimum to stay under cap.
As in Dustin Keller? What's his asking price? That would kill two birds with one stone. Degrade the JESTS and add a very very nice weapon (When healthy of course) EDIT: I met a former Jests TE about 4 months ago. He was rehabbing at the same Physical Therapy I was...Great kid. Told him I was a die-hard phins fan and he just laughed http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1853529/josh-baker
I think they would be eating 20 mil off from the 30 mil that we have in cap space, that would leave us with 10 mil to use in drafted palyers a some one else.
we'll see what kinda money Cook is looking for but i don't agree with this, we can definitely sign both of them.
I think the Dolphins are focusing entirely too much on free agency, and this will likely blow up in their faces. I'm sensing a lot of desperation out of this front office right now, and it appears they are going to spend heavy in free agency even though Joe Philbin comes from a philosophy of building through the draft. I can't think of a time where spending big in free agency has ever worked well for the spender.
oh relax its better to spend and get a playmaker then sit on our asses and do nothing. personaly we could sign offensive skill players and then draft defense and be better off but that is only my opinion. i wish we could have traded for Tight end Brandon Pettigrew from detroit sign Welker Jennings and sign chambers and let him retire a fin. then draft 2 cb's a dt , 2 de's and 1 olineman and a te and cut ties with Eggnew , Clay and trade Bess for a late round pick .
Well, we still need to see if all these rumors become true at the end of the day. But if you have 40 millions to spend i think you have to use them.
Think of this way, what's the success rate of the guys we target? Or any team for that matter? Rather than go gaga over nothing much at all, considering we haven't signed anyone yet may be premature. We've been linked to almost any receiver worth their salt, and to be honest I don't have an issue in getting Brandon Gisbon. Provided we don't pay him more than roughly 4-5 million with 5 million being my fan no clue what the hell I'm talking about number. If we do that and add Cook that is absolutely fine by me. I doubt we pay him 8 million. The Franchise tag for TE is something along the lines of 6.7 million. Why would we pay THAT much more per year for his services? 8 million is highly unlikely for any TE not named Gronkowski, and even he is helped greatly by that system. If you do that basically say goodbye to Jake Long, but that is probably best at this stage. He's just too expensive for his level of play. You can then add to the WR corp via the draft. If you got Gibson you'd have a likely top four of Bess, Hartline, Matthews and Gibson which is a solid upgrade over Legadu Nanee and Marlon Moore. No, its not all-world, but it is better than competent IMHO. You put Cook in the middle along with Fasano and that's not a bad offense. You will compete provided you also add some more talent via the draft. If you can get some contribution from a rookie as well, you are on your way moving forward.
Yes, thats who we should be looking at. Cook is almost the exact player he was when he was a freshman at South Carolina; receive first, second and block only when when the coach has chewed me out already this game. Or we could get both but thats just how I would do things. Can never have too many playmakers in the passing game. What kind of therapy were you doing? Everything ok?
Gee, so far we are targeting Wallace, Jennings, Gibson, Mendenhall, Keller, Cook, Harvin, Winston....I'm sure I've missed one or two....amazing how the rumor mill is exploding....worse is that there are still some that believe we're gonna get every one of those guys....
Bennett was probably the most complete tight end. Cook has high risk high payoff if he can deal with the blocking side of things.
Since April of 2011, I have had: Right Knee- Microfracture. (April 2011) Left Knee- Microfracture (Sept 2011 Right Knee- OATS (Aug 2012, and when I was rehabbing with Josh Baker) Left Knee- OATS (This last January). You have any info on what Dustin Keller is likely to make? I would love to have that guy as I mentioned. Double he whammy on the little green airplanes...specially since they had to release all their linebackers this last month lol
Sorry, after watching too much of this guy here in Dallas, I can't agree. One season does not a TE make. He is "adequate" and perhaps an upgrade, but not over Fasano......... IJS
His first year as a starter he blocked well, and was a nice outlet for Eli. Hard to blame him for being a backup to J. Witten.
I think there's like an 85% chance the Giants reach a deal with Martellus Bennett within a few hours of FA. I think if we're looking at a TE in FA (which, IMO, we should be) it's Keller or Cook
