no **** we are targeting everyone we have a lot of holes on our roster you cant fill them all in 1 draft
I'd be heavily disappointed if we allocated $10.0M/year in 2 nothing-special possession receivers. How does that make us competitive? To me that's spending money to be average. We could do that in the draft at a fraction of the cost.
Here is as much as you would ever want to read: http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/arthritis/g/oats.htm The Cliffs notes version is: osteoarticular transfer system. I don't have any cartiledge left in the knee, so its bone on bone. Microfracture is where they drill a series of small holes in the femur and your body secretes Protiens, Creatines enzymes and a gelatinous goo. It eventulally solidifies into "Fibrous Cartiledge.....didn't work well for me. Oats they drill a hole in the bottom of the femur, larger than microfracture, then take a Graft of bone and cartiledge from a non-load bearing part of the knee and plug it into the hole they drilled.... Still getting over the last one. Still on a cane...still on Hydrocodone and yippee...get to go to therapy at 8:00 tomorrow morning lol. Worst part. Go google Graston technique. It's where they take stainless steel tools and scrape the living crap outa my knee cap. Nothing pleasant about it at all, but it's how they break up the scar tissue so my knee can move again.
This doesn't make any sense. Free agency doesn't have a much bigger success rate than the draft, and Ireland isn't below average levels of success at either.
All things considered, I'm not sure who I would consider the best target or the best guy for the Dolphins situation in free agency. There are a lot of good players on the market.
I think if you pair Keller with anyone not named Mark Sanchez or the Arizona Cardinals, you're going to see some numbers amongst the top of the league for TEs
It's hard not to feel a bit wary with the potential amount of money being thrown around and the realistic success rate of free agency. At a certain point though, what else are you going to do with 45 million in cap space? You've got a fair amount to burn through before you get to the point where you're rolling over a disciplined and respectable amount and minding your P's and Q's in regards to resigning Reshad Jones, etc.
Truth is, more often than not, it's the teams that only solidify a few key spots and add roster depth. Going after the "Home-run" type player, especially if its a big cap hit, never ever works out well.
Forgive them for what? That team spent a ton of money, had high expectations and missed the playoffs the following 2 years. Just because their now out of the league backup QB gave them a ridiculous name doesn't make them any less pathetic.
Theres a rumor out there saying the coaches were pissed when Bess missed games with a back issue late in the year. Sounds like they think he was shamming. Just a rumor but if its true then maybe we are looking at Gibson as a possible replacement. I don't buy the Welker talk, one day the Pats are interested in Wallace, next day we are looking at Welker, next day NE is looking at SSmith? What's next? Miami in talks to sign Vollmer? Whole lotta BS goin on IMO, is it Tuesday yet?
He's really prolific as a receiver, but at a certain point I think you're losing some tight end elements with him. He's an embarrassment as a blocker and isn't exactly the tall physical target. That doesn't make him a bad option, but I don't think you put him ahead of everyone else because he's a bit more consistent/productive either.
I have a really really tough time thinking that Bess would be faking injury. Keep in mind, this guy would not be in the league if he didn't spend extra hours day in and day out working on being a better receiver. I don't buy it.
I wouldn't compare us to the Eagles. Not unless we name our OL coach the defensive coordinator. Gotta be one of the worst decisions in NFL history.
I don't buy it either, but if we are going after Gibson, or Tavon Austin, who are best used in the slot, then whatta we do with Bess?
I'm not comparing the Dolphins to the Eagles. What I'm saying is not spending wisely or being fiscally responsible can and will do you in for years. This is a critical offseason. Spend wisely and we can be in for a good run. Overspend on a few players that bust and our struggles will get even worse and be even harder to get out of
At least he tries to block. Put him next to Fasano and I think Keller may yet become ok at it. Cook can block but rarely tries til hes chewed out and Finley is no different then Keller in that instance, I just think Keller may be more prolific given the opportunity....of course Id be ok with Eifert too.
Cook is inconsistent, but paying him a mill or 2 more than Brandon Gibson would clearly be the way to go. And we'd have the cash to spend on Wallace too.
dude....., they sucked ! Awful in comparison to the year before. Complete nose dive after an unquestioned bolstering of the roster.
I'd be thrilled if we came out of free agency with a legit receiver like Wallace and a seam busting TE. Cook would be great, I'd like Keller, too (lord knows he's eaten our lunch the last few years) but I do have injury concerns with him. In most cases, you would prefer to stay away from players with injury troubles in FA. Apologies to Mr. Brees.
Talk about Free Agency Dream Team busts, what about Shula's last Fins team? That was a total disappointment.
Exactly, we saw what that did for us last year.....I am pleasantly pleased so far if the reports are true. It looks like Ireland actually got the message he needs to do something big this year or he is done.
Not because of their free agency acquisitions, though. That's the point I'm dancing around. What's happening here is that someone is taking exception to my comment about adding talent by using the 2011 Eagles as "proof", while completely ignoring why the 2011 Eagles were actually bad. Their FA signings were generally positive contributors and improved their team strengths. But people who didn't bother to watch the Eagles seize on a stupid comment by Vince Young and suddenly talent acquisition is a fool's errand? OK. So if you want to be on the side of using an example of something that isn't true to refute a point about adding talent sooner rather than later being a good thing, then by all means, please explain why the 2011 Eagles prove that talent acquisition is a false pursuit. I'm waiting to hear how making a team more talented is actually a bad thing.
How so? With or without that name they were a complete and utter failure. That team had high expectations long before Vince Youngs comment. A lot of people had them in the Super Bowl and that had nothing to do with the "dream team" label. It had to do with money and collection of talent they assembled that offseason. I think you're letting that stupid nickname cloud your judgement of how much of a disappointment that team was.
Something like that. Can't remember the exact number, but it was a huge disappointment. Darn team just didn't gel.
They have a ton of draft picks so it looks like they're doing both but they will be signing no more than 2 high priced free agents so I don't see what your saying.
Jason Babin made the Pro Bowl in 2011 Cullen Jenkins had 5.5 sacks, 24 hurries, and 7 tackles-for-loss in 2011 Evan Mathis rated the best guard in the league in 2011 and 2012 Namdi and DRC were really the only lemons of that off-season and DRC is kinda a wash because they only traded a b/o qb and also got a 2nd round pick back.
For the record, I agree with Desides in this argument. When you can add the right talent in FA you do it. It is always a risk but nothing ventured nothing gained. Just don't go about it like a kid in a candy store!
The way I see it is they are basically deciding to go tit-for-tat with Mike Wallace/Jared Cook instead of re-signing Sean Smith/Jake Long.
I agree with this. We are in great position to score in the draft. I would be surprised, possibly even disappointed, if they go after too many FA's when they have a great opportunity to kill the draft.
Would you really be disappointed if they somehow figured out how to get Mike Wallace, Jared Cook, Andy Levitre, Eric Winston, and Louis Delmas?
I'm not dancing around your comment at all and I'm well aware of the reasons that the Eagles failed. The talent they assembled didn't fit what they were doing. Nnamdi didn't fit in that defense...at all. I wouldn't call that "generally positive". The Eagles "wide nine" scheme crippled him. DRC is/was drastically overrated. But you already knew that because you actually watched them. Does that mean Nnamdi isn't talented? Obviously he is...but he didn't workout for them. You can add talent and it not be a "good thing" as you originally stated. Adding the "right" talent for what you're trying to do is however a good thing. Overspending on talent is also not a good thing.
