http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...an-boldin-to-be-traded-to-san-francisco-49ers Scratch him off the list. From one Harbaugh to another. *Mods - please change title to read "to be traded..." as it's not official yet.
Done. Its a great fit for him and the niners. At the end of his career he will be a veteran role player who will come in handy during the playoffs.
Essentially replacing Randy Moss. Man, the 49ers are loaded with talent. Very interested to see what Kaepernick does in a full season, one way or the other.
Boldin to the 49ers for a sixth round pick after the Seahawks traded for Harvin earlier in the day. It makes it very easy to see why these two organizations are in the upper tier of teams in the NFL. They are willing to what is necessary to upgrade the talent on their teams. Too bad the Dolphins didn't think Boldin was worth their sixth round pick, which is before the 6th round pick of the 49ers.
Well the Seahawks and 49ers are guaranteed to have two of the most hyped games of 2013 season already. And that was before each one added Boldin and Harvin... Refreshing to see though rather than the same-old matchups being hyped. Brady-Manning ad nauseum comes to mind. Any Cowboys-Giants-Eagles combo.
The Niners do have to pay his $6 million salary/cap hit, so it didn't only cost them a 6th round pick.
Your right, I have no idea if they had any interest. All I do know is that their pick in the sixth round in before the 49ers and Boldin is headed to the 49ers and not the Dolphins. Of course Boldin could have told the Ravens that he would only accept a trade to a legitimate SB contender and that would have disqualified the Dolphins from consideration.
All due respect, I disagree. Boldin is a bigger, more physical receiver who presents a great red zone target. Bess is a smaller/shiftier receiver who is great at moving the chains. I absolutely would've offered a 6th (or more) to get Boldin. That said, this deal wreaks of insider trading between brothers Harbaugh. Oh well, onward and upward.
You see, they will always be proactive while boy wonder's reactive nature constantly puts us behind the eight ball. He's too preoccupied by finding acorns, avoiding progress stoppers and fielding one of the league's youngest teams regardless of actual talent.
Bess is better right now, Boldin does not get separation anymore (yes he had a good playoffs). Both in prime I take Boldin, now I take Bess or hartline.
I wasn't aware they had traded away the pick. I had gone on line to see where they picked in the sixth round, compared to the 49er's and it still showed the Dolphins with a sixth round pick. Thanks for the information.
Think we'll have to agree to disagree on this NJFINSFAN1. And FWIW I really like Bess, he's a baller.
What makes it worse is that the Ravens ended up trading him because they didn't want to pay him 6 million dollars next year. All I know is that I would much rather have traded a fifth round pick, (since they don't have a sixth round pick), and paid Boldin the six million dollars this year instead of signing Hartline for that same dollar amount.
They mentioned on ESPN Newsome did this as a favor to Boldin as he wanted to retire as a Raven but wanted to keep his pay. This way he gets his pay and is still on a contender something Miami is not.
smh at this trade this is why nfl shouldn't allow brother head coaches 1 team is bleeding players so they know they cant win anymore and they gift the playoff mvp to his brother for a 6th round what a joke.
I stated earlier in the thread that Boldin probably agreed to be traded to a contender. That certainly makes sense for Boldin and the 49ers, but it is a shame that after five years with Ireland as the teams GM, Miami is still considered a lower tier team and not a legitimate playoff contender.
Hartline's cap hit next year is just a little over $2 million. Boldin's is $6 million. That's a significant difference.
I would still take a cap hit of six million dollars over a two million dollar cap hit, if that meant the Dolphins had Boldin instead of Hartline. Hartline is a decent WR, but he is no Boldin.
