I was going over our roster and I can see now why we have been bad . here is our list of first rd draft picks going back to 1990 2012 QB Ryan Tannehill 2011 OL Mike Pouncey 2010 DE Jarred Odrick 2009 DB Vontae Davis 2008 OT Jake Long 2007 WR Ted Ginn jr 2006 DB Jason Allen 2005 RB Ronnie Brown 2004 OT Vernond Carey 2003 no first rd pic but the first pick is Eddie Moore bust Todd Wade Jamar Fletcher, Jason Allen , Ted Ginn jr Jarred Odrick 2002 no first rd pick but we take C Seth McKinney in rd 2 from 2000 we had 5 1st rd bust. 2001 DB Jamar Fletcher 2000 OT Todd Wade from 1990 to 1999 1999 RB JJ Johnson 1998 RB John Avery 1997 WR Yatil Green 1996 DT Daryl Gardener 1995 OT Billy Milner 1994 DT Tim Bowens 1993 WR O.J McDuffie 1992 DB Troy Vincent 1991 WR Randal Hill 1990 OT Richmond Webb from 90 to 99 we had 5 first rd bust but we had 5 real good first rd picks so the 90s was a mixed draft result O.J McDuffie , Richmond Webb ,DaryL Gardner ,Troy Vincent , Tim Bowens, wer what i call hitting the jackpot Please note the pages of which i worked off may be off of was sort of distorted so Im not sure about the 2000 to 2002 draft BOTTOM LINE WE STRUCK OUT AT RB AND WR WITH THE EXCEPTION OF O.J McDuffie our skill players of this past decade didnt fare too good . therefore our draft picks need to make a bigger splash in order to make us respectible.
Yatil Green was not a bust, he just could not stay healthy. I think he could have been a really good player(JMHO). I think Odrick is also not a bust, was he a great pick? No, but def. not a bust.
For informational purposes, our first round pick in 2002 and 2003 was technically Ricky Williams. On one hand you got astronomical production and then some very good production. On the other, he essentially missed 3 seasons and torpedoed one of them. What's sad is that many of the bad/not great picks of the last decade.....the fans had correctly identified the better players.
Right on the money. It's why I have to laugh sometimes when we get into debates on here and people use the "their professionals and you're an armchair fan so why would you think you can tell better who is good?" Well after watching the Dolphins make a long list of boneheaded draft picks over the last 25 years I can honestly say that sometimes a group of educated fans can make better choices than a collection of professionals that just can't seem to scout well for whatever reason. During the Wannstedt years fans made better choices a vast majority of the time!
Large investment, little return. Regardless of the reasons, he's a bust. The only time you give a guy a pass is in the case of a guy like Sean Taylor (RIP), otherwise the blame falls on the player. Injuries are very much a part of the game and are to be accounted for.
I forgot to ask in my first post does a 2nd rd pick count if its our first pick of a draft because that has me a little confused ?
