A common denominator in Game 6 of the 2002 WCF and Game 2 of the 2008 finals? Bob Delaney. Me thinks someone needs to be investigating him.

The discrepency in fouls in Game 2 of the 2008 Finals was 7. Hardly a conspirciy.

That said, I will not be surprised in the least to see this years Finals go 7 games. David Stern is the either the dumbest man alive or the biggest snake in the buisness and I don't care what anyone says.

The parts about not calling fouls on stars for the sake of ticket sales and TV revenue is exactly what's wrong with the NBA.

If LeBron James ran down the entire court without dribbling, not a single ref would blow a whistle.

    Van Gundy knew about this?

Also, I bet McGrady is pissed as hell. He could have finally been out of the first round.

Problem is that statement isn't to far off. Hell, they take off from the 3 point line as it is now!:tantrum:

yeah, i dont watch much basketball, but i have an okay understanding of it, i just cant get into it, but the things ive seen James, and Bryant and some of the other big superstars get away with that other guys dont... its pretty obvious, and pretty ridiculous.

This news is definately bad for the NBA...

Yes but free throw discrepency was 38-10. HUGE difference in a 6 point game. Borderline criminal if you ask me.

Tonight's game was a little better, although these refs seem to get something stuck in their craw and stick with it. The free throws were 34-22 in favor of the Lakers. However, I don't think I have seen so many travling calls in a game in my life. I couldn't believe it. In some respects it was nice, but in others, maddening as I saw players on both sides do, what would be considered traveling and not get called and on the next trip down, the whistle blows.

All I really want is some freaking consistancy from these guys. Is that too much to ask for?

I agree with you about your disdain for the officiating. I feel the same way. That said, there is no way though that the Lakers deserved to go to the Line *that* much more in Game 2. I'm sorry!

Or how about Accountability? That is my biggest problem. Game two was ridiculous. 28 more free throws for a 6 point final margin?

Fin in RI... how do you know that discrepancy was NOT a fix? You sure seem confident. Then again, it is your favorite team that got the benefit.

Now I am not saying it was a fix. However, when referees take control over ANY game and have an EFFECT on the outcome... THAT IS WRONG. Like it or not, your team got a gift with 28 MORE freethrows in a TIGHT game. And while maybe the Lakers did not "deserve" to go to the line more, I KNOW the Celts got quite a few gifts for going to the line.

The refs in NBA games have been HORRIBLE for 10 + years. It is why they will NEVER better than the NFL. At least not until Stern is gone. These latest allegations are GREAT. I hope it causes a big investigation and then they can Stern.

I guess it coul be a fix.. Maybe the league wants both home teams to win their games so it goes to 7 games then winner take all in game 7. Sounds plausible to me.

It is funny, because I read some articles saying that "IF the NBA is fixing things, they are doing a bad job"... it goes on to say how many small market teams are in the finals the last decade or so, how many BIG time players go to small time markets, etc...

My WHOLE argument is that SOME (not all) Refs can take over a game and make a few bad calls here and there to extend a series. Like what Donahey (sp?) said about that series in 02. It is not hard to swing a game or two and make sure teams play more games.

WHY did EVERYONE know the free throw disparity was going to swing the other way in game 3 vs game 2?

It may not be some HUGE conspiracy, but there definitely is something backhanded going on.
