The agents for several prominent free agent cornerbacks and offensive tackles say Miami hasn’t made an aggressive effort to sign them, which suggests that the Dolphins want final decisions from Sean Smith and Jake Long before they move on to other options. Long is visiting the Rams tonight. UPDATE: Cook has chosen to sign with the Rams instead, leaving Dustin Keller, Martellus Bennett (who said he wants to sign with Chicago) and Fred Davis as the top free agent tight ends available. Miami hadn't been pursuing Davis as of Monday but that could change. Read more here: http://miamiherald.typepad.com/spor...-judge-dolphins-heat-notes.html#storylink=cpy
I would be stunned if we brought back Sean Smith. Jake Long? we'll see. But martin can play LT... the issue is RT... LG...RG...
Really surprised there hasn't been any serious moves for a TE. Especially considering we are currently making an explosion rather than a splash.
i like fred davis at tight end, but the last 2 seasons he really hasnt been healthy, keller is decent as well. with fasano gone the dolphins need to fill this void unless they feel comfortable with egnew and clay.(which i highly doubt)
My thoughts exactly. Would love Ertz in the 2R or Eifert if he falls. Tbh, the FA TE class was underwhelming.
I couldn't disagree more. I'm not sure that there is a deeper position this year. Gonzalez, Bennett, Pitta, Keller, Myers, Cook, Davis all are starting-caliber. Delanie Walker, Fasano, Watson are on the fringe.
We could even do the Ireland double down on TEs and take a pair of them in the first three rounds. The whole Finley situation in Green Bay may still be plan A however.
won't happen with Egnew still here who's just as promising talent-wise as any of these 2nd tier TEs after Eifert IMO.
I could see either Martin-Cooper-Pouncey-incognito-Jerry Martin-incognito-Pouncey-Jerry-Winston And be okay with either(I prefer the first) Appoint many options, hell maybe samuda and yeatmen a show up and kicks *** in training camp. We are a long ways off
From Eifert, Ertz, Kelce and McDonald .... are all good options come draft day .... and likely only 1 will go in RD 1. Personally, i have been less and less impressed with Ertz and am waiting on Kelce and his 'Pro Day' results. Eifert and McDonald are solid picks .... in fact I like McDonald at least as much as Ertz and should still be there with our 2d 2d ... Kelce 'could' be right there as well. In FA ... CK still has his pick Myers still out there ... oh, and there still is that belief that Egnew is a star in waiting .... so to me - it is either we pick up Myers or wait til day 2 in the draft for TE ....
I feel the same way. I think we need a RT (we seem to be dabbling with Winston like we did last year). But, I'd like to get a couple of other slots in the fold as well before the draft (DE, CB). And would then like to be able to draft one of the two top OG's in the draft. I feel like those two have the highest "floor" in the middle of round 1. Potential 10-12 year players. But, we also need TE. I am not big on going for Eifert in the top 10, to be honest. I'd rather trade down or try to trade up from the 2nd (or both).
More from BJ http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/#storylink=cpy MOD EDIT: THANKS FOR KEEPING US UPDATED BUT PLEASE DONT POST THE WHOLE DOLPHIN RELATED PORTION
Con..keep teasing me man...never thought I'd ever say that.. It's Eifert and everyone else, we have serious competition in our division, we need the best.
Ive never been more confused as to how we are going to approach the draft. Obviously no guard or tackle in the first round. I'm thinking Patterson? Eifert? Trade up for Jordan?
