Well..damn..Big Jake signs in Stl, 3 great yrs, 2 crappy years. Hmm, when we were all happy about making the playoffs and the Wildcat and the future in 09, a puke green Jest fan..freakin' called it: "..oh when he first gets there you will think it is like a plane rising from an airport, only to crash into the swamp at the end of the runway.." Pretty ****ing much, picking #1 every rd we wind up with..shinola..nothing..a sub .500 team ever since 08. Yet that pudgy marshmellow will be elected on his past laurels as a Head Coach and there will be -0- questions asked what happened in Miami, nope, take the 30 million and act like the whole thing never happened. Can those who bothered with Jake Long was the right pick over Matt Ryan now recognize..whattaya****innutz now? Ryan has been to the playoffs how many times since then? Jake Long will wear that dorky Rams helmet, we will look for yet another Tackle. A pity really that Wayne H made that phone call while Bill Parcells was heading to Atlanta on his private jet..things may have turned out very differently.
Geez Padre. while I understand the frustration, get over it. it's pathetic to dwell on a mistake from 5 years ago. We just had an exciting opening day of free agency to build on a promising year with our new young QB.
RT @jthom1According to Rams, Rams have NOT agreed to terms with Jake Long. In fact, they haven't even discussed "terms."
Eh, not sour graping, more he will appear on shows as an "expert" and we washed out 2 #1 picks that yr, Henne is gone, there is literaly not jack **** left from the parcells era. THAT pisses me off to no end, add in the puke green Jest fan was right..but paradoxically are now reaping their own harvest from the Ryan Era's lack of player development..it still bothers me.
Surprised you didn't include 2009 as well. By my count the players on the Dolphins roster, at present, acquired via the draft or signed as UDFA's from both of those years are: 2008 - Davone Bess - UDFA, Dan Carpenter - UDFA 2009 - Brian Hartline - 4th round pick, Chris Clemons - 5th round pick Sean Smith is still lingering around somewhere.
There will always be fans who defend the decision to draft Long over Ryan, even though history has already proven it a mistake. Maybe, and I certainly don't agree, but maybe you can make an argument that it wasn't a mistake outside of hindsight. But it was a mistake. Funny thing is, if he did end up on the Rams they would have had both mistakes taken over Ryan on roster.
Everyone points to Ryan, at least last season, and says, "gee, what if?" but the reality is that the team around Ryan as been VERY, VERY good and they have underachieved. Is that because of Ryan ?? Would Ryan have been as successful with a crappy team around him (like we've had since that draft) ?? It's all speculation...for every time you say Long was the better pick, someone else can say Ryan was the better pick and NEITHER would be wrong, neither would be right...it's only speculation...what if David Carr had gone someplace that didn't get him killed for four years in Detroit before they mercifully let him go ?? It's all speculation and can't be considered that one is right and one is wrong...
just don't agree with this theory Larry, talent rises, talent elevates others, that dude has been in the playoffs a lot, someone has to lead that and he's done a great job..Matt is top 10 no doubt.. Lets see.. Rodgers, Brady, Bree's, Manning, Luck, Kaepernik, Wilson, RG, Rothlesberger, Flacco. I guess top 11 if your including the old guys, top 10 if choosing to start a franchise with. .
