Austin had over a thousand yards rushing with a 10 yard average..pretty good sample size around 100 carries, open field vision is that of an elite running back..peripheral vision is outstanding, speed and quicks to house the crack when he sees it before anyone else.. Folks just should think about how upset your gonna be when we don't get him, how envious you will be of the team that does, before you just dismiss the player.. Special football player..never missed a game..high school or college.
That's not what you previously said. No matter what, you'd prefer a player who looks fast relative to his peers than one that doesn't. Escobar looks faster on the field than his track time would indicate. That is not true of every player.
i did not forget odrick, I figured him more as DE depth but you are correct in regards to the Dt position, but what if we do not resign one? And we had an opportunity to draft a stud? Great point about bess, I just don't see the value in drafting Austin when we have bess already in the slot. Sure Austin could be better but we are lacking at other positions of need more. Just my opinion, if you don't agree that's cool but don't dig through my posts about Tannehill and make it a vandetta
It is what I meant. Just wasn't clear enough. That happens. Of course you want someone who looks faster on the field than track time. However having a slow track time may put what he does on the field in context. It isn't easy to see if someone can translate what they do in college in the NFL. Which is one of the reason they do track measurables. Now someone posted his other measurables and it could be he just doesn't have a good second gear, because all his other gears look to be pretty quick.
Ireland had to be conservative last year. He had not a lot of cap room to work with and sign a bunch of players. As I recall on the opening of free agency last year, Miami was about 15 mil under, whereas this year, 44 mil under. This is the main reason IMO that Miami had no chance with Manning. It is no coincidence that he signed with the team that had the most room under the cap last year, Denver.
Well with Wallace on the outside.....and...if we can land Keller....to me that creates alot of space for Austin as a slot reciever to work his magic in. I think of this... Wallace, Keller, Austin, and Lamar Miller....thats some serious speed at skill positions. I dont see many defenses that can cover all that....
If Star Lotulelei checks out physically and is available at 12 I would take him without a heartbeat (see what I did there?). Starks and Soliai are getting up there.
Sorry to change topic but has anyone heard of any news in regards to the Jarvis jones? Or star lotulelei and their health concerns?
Hahaha Tavon Austin is NOT a possibility to Philly @ #4. What the **** are you guys smoking? Good lord this obsession since the combine is just getting insane
I'm addressing both the person who made the statement and the person who supported it with an affirmative response. edit: took out my slight snark
Maybe the affirmative response by Dupree was in jest because of the futility of the organization.. You lumped the whole board into one persons opinion basically laughing and asking what everyone is smoking. If you wanna take that route when you disagree with one persons opinion, your business, sounds to me like your walking around looking for a fight.
Uh, if your entire point is "don't go around this board looking for a fight" and "don't generalize this board" then I'm just laughing here because that's exactly what you're doing. Hint: Nowhere in my post did I say "this board". I said "you guys". As in multiple guys. As in, I dunno, maybe the two guys that I was addressing?
Chip Kelly is a new coach who is working on metrics rather than what has worked in the past. With the rookie salary cap, it wouldn't surprise me if he took Austin. Not that I think it is going to happen, it is just in that situation due to the people involved, is it really that surprising?
My apologies if I offended you..I just thought Duprees comment was about what he thought a certain front office might do, not what he would do.. Along with Eifert, and coming from my perspective, I think when your are the premiere offensive skillset players in the draft, conventional wisdom does not apply.. However I hope the mentality that they are overrated in the top 15 continues.
I really don't have a clue where the obsession comment comes from, it says we are along for the ride or just part of the masses, you don't have an opinion on the player, just read the articles.. Check this out, Tavon Austin's skillset was caculated and projected very early in the process this offseason on this site, before a lot of other media forums and outlets, maybe the obsession was created by the time spent evaluating the player and projecting their opinions.??
Understand and understood.. Geno Smith put on a show. Tavon Austin stole the show! 5:54 PM - 14 Mar 13..WV proday.. "Tavon Austin may have benefited the most from the Mountaineers' pro day workout. He stood on his incredible 40 time at the combine, but wowed observers going through the other drills." The film matches up to whatever he does in shorts..that's what's scary..
It's tough, I like that Lacy is more of a complement to Miller, just think Bernard is more of a weapon.
let me correct you there- It's "STARTING slot receiver", you know, the position that would see the most touches among receivers if we actually HAD an Xfactor type playmaker there. No, I didn't forget about the 2 perimeter receivers we signed. Now they desperately need a compliment in the slot. The dates on our posts would say otherwise. I wonder if you were this hostile and degrading to others last year when posters were talking about Miami drafting Tannehill.
I'll disagree with you on this one..I think bernard is overrated at this point and Lacy is in another class..I don't see the necessary field speed to make up for the lack of size.
I can't think of an offense in the NFL that would have the kind of speed that potential starting lineup would possess. Add the fact that they will be facing dime defenses all day long...
(2012) Bess, Hartline, Clay, Fasano average 40 time = 4.65 (2013) Wallace, Austin, Hartline, Keller = 4.40
