I won't be one bit surprised if we go into next season with Marshall as the #2 corner. IMO, Ireland thinks he has that spot taken care of at a good price.
I agree. And at this point, it doesn't seem like he's in danger of being released. Or Patterson for that matter. Which is why I don't get the fans saying we need CBs. If they do intend to rely them, we just have to replace Smith.
I don't think we're worse for this move because we know we will be running more zone and he just doesn't fit with that style of play. I would have kept him as a #2 if we were going to play more man. Not because he was good at it, but because his size alone would interfere with the ball. He was a wimp as others have said (ala Ginn Jr.), but he could have a longer NFL shelf life if he actually had good qualities to go with him being soft (i.e. caught alot of int's). He didn't do that, so I'm glad we passed on him.
We havnt got into the playoffs unless its Wildcard since 1992. 21yrs. So forgive me if im a realist. Love ya Super Bowl quote but im a realist .Im not Boom and Bust. I want to supplant the Patriots and have the Dolphins as the AFC East champs on a regular basis.
Two more corners off the board: Cary Williams to eagles, 3 yrs $17 mill with $10.5 guaranteed Keenan Lewis to Saints 5 yrs $26 mill with $11 guaranteed. More reasonable deals. Head scratching to me. But we inch closer to Talib and Grimes getting desparate
That's how I see it. Probably sign one UFA, someone like Cason, or Jammer. Draft one in the top 5 picks. Maybe Banks at 42 or Poyer at 54. Something like that. Feel free to substitute other names in those spots.
desperate isnt wearing a Dolphin uniform next season. Personally i would jump onboard. Its becoming a Poker game at CB.
We did win the division in '08 but I see your point. I'm tired of it being a foregone conclusion that the pats have the division won.
