No, tard, you didn't mention him in your fast list.

Seriously, you should take a few minutes each day and practice thinking.

Other than his blind hatred for the Gamecocks, I think phinsational is as clear thinking and intelligent as anyone on this board. Other than CK, no one contributes more well thought out and well researched posts than he does. I don't want to lose anyone, but the last two members of this forum I'd hate to see gone are CK and phinsational. IMO, they are our MVP and MVP Jr. They are my MVPs anyway. YMMV. :)

Since you are so hell bent on my old posts please enlighten me but do not forget the ones where I posted I was wrong about RT. in regards to our slot. Maybe bess isn't the greatest but he sure is our slot guy for now. Maybe we just don't see eye to eye on this years needs. If I offended you I apologize, just no need to bring up past comments and be a complete smart *** and the. Not expect it in return. My original comment was to share my opinion on miamis draft his year. I wasn't asking someone to bring up my comments that I made about RT last year. I'm done with the arguement, sorry for offending.

Just went through my old posts and I deliberately explained I was drunk in one of the string of posts of mine, then the next group of posts I had were clearly stating that I was beggining to feel I was initially wrong about tannehill. There did the homework for you.

A couple of notes from some the stuff on previous pages. There's a reason why Miami is looking at Tavon Austin so hard. They had three scouts at the WV Pro Day today. He's nothing like Ted Ginn first off. Secondly, you have the talent now on the perimeter to let Austin do what he did in college. He instantly creates more room for Miller, more options for the receivers. But most of all if you're Jeff Ireland, you're living and dying by Ryan Tannehill. Get Tannehill as many weapons as it takes to keep your job. And he's going to contribute from week one because you're asking him to do things that he did in College. Jet sweeps, carries, swing passes, etc. Match ups. Get him the ball in space. Simple as that.

As for Xavier Rhodes, any of you that peruse the draft forum know I'm a big fan and there's a detailed explanation of why. But it seems fairly certain we're moving to zone and quarters coverage full on. Rhodes is a press cover corner. He's physical at the LOS, he gets a great jab at the snap to redirect and he can click and close. But he's not a zone corner because it doesn't play to his strengths. That's the reason why we just let Sean Smith walk.

How do we know that Coyle will be using zone next season?

If that's true Trufant could be a better pick then.

My body is a church I've been preaching this so much. You need tanne to progess. Why not try to up his odds with an overkill of weapons?

But Austin at 12 I'm not in love with- wouldn't lay in bed for a full day depressed not in love- but definitely Ireland has gone cuckoo for coco puffs not in love. Especially if, as per Cks draft, Patterson is a real possibility for our second pick. Any one seen tape on Patterson? Seems like there were games where he was the entire offensive system. He's not anywhere near the home run threat Austin is but hands and catches in traffic whilst getting pounded? All Patterson all day long.

Plus, will we even be able to utilize Austin correcty? We're talkin about an offense that never saw bush lined wide ala Faulk in the greatest show on turf- a prospect I was so excited about upon his signing with Sherman at the helm. Or incorporate bess who had past success in the slot.

Austin is certainly exciting. We need a line or Wallace won't have time to get down field. We need a secondary or as many tds Austin breaks, the opposing O will match.

Nobody was talking about him as a top 5 pick before the combine. Absolutely nobody. Now we're seeing it being said with a straight face.

Trust me, I know you were obsessed with him before the combine lol

I don't understand what the big deal is. We are not rating prospects here. On cbsdraft, Austin is rated at 24. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings.

We all know teams draft based on need, sometimes to fill a position, sometimes to find a fit for a new scheme. Players get overdrafted from their ranked position all the time based on that. There could be a team in top 10 that needs a player like Austin and they will take him. It happens every year. Plus, every team has their own board and rating, and that's the only ranking that matters. So what is so unusual about that?

NFL.com has him the top 10 player now http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/tracker#dt-tabs:dt-by-grade/dt-by-position-input:wr

hmmm... i would rank Patterson ahead of Austin though.

Because we've been moving more and more towards it and having blitzing linebackers like Ellerbe and Wheeler, you can't man up on the outside.

I think you do people that do the draft a bit of a disservice. A number of people here had players ranked in significantly different places to where they stand now. All those early predictions about players like Damontre Moore, Lane Johnson, Xavier Rhodes, etc.....how did they end up? Not saying that anyone had Austin in the top five but to me and I know a number of other people, he's been a top 15 pick. Used correctly he's one of the best ten talents in the draft and that's not even close to being up for debate.

Damn...I hate it when you do that.

Being a Neer's.....I was already drooling over having either Austin or Bailey...(or both!)....now you say stuff like that, and it makes the anxiety that we wont draft him, even worse. Ireland has a hard on for players like Austin, god I hope we get him.

I think Austin makes PERFECT sense for this offense now. Wallace does so much to open up the field for us. What Austin specializes in is space. The game is about mismatches now....if we landed Austin, and also get a seam threat TE...which Egnew could very well be right now...your looking at....matchup issues outside with Wallace, matchup issues on the inside with Austin, matchup issues with your TE, you now have a very explosive RB in Lamar Miller...Charles Clay as a FB/Hyrbid....there are matchup mismatches all over the field.

Seriously....if you just look at it...the speed is almost to the point where we havent seen in Miami maybe ever. Now you throw in the fast pace offense that Philbin is gonna run? Good luck game planning against all that....

We could very well have the fastest LB'ers in the NFL if they sign Thomas Howard as well....

The interest in Tavon Austin is serious, IMO. This is reminiscent of last year with the interest in Ryan Tannehill, and it is also reminiscent of 2009 with the interest in Percy Harvin. How many times did Miami meet with Harvin? I know they flew him in the night before the draft and were going to take him if available. Jeff Ireland has wanted this kind of player for a long time.

From a schematic standpoint, defenses will have some serious issues covering this guy in the slot and out of the backfield without using a safety, and with Mike Wallace on that side, it's pick your poison. With the space that Mike Wallace's downfield ability will create, Tavon Austin may very well be a top candidate for ROY in 2013. It wouldn't surprise me if he lead Miami in receiving as a rookie.

There's also the comparisons with Randall Cobb and what he brings to Green Bay. Austin could really open our offense up.

If the Dolphins drafted Tavon Austin there is little doubt in my mind that he would out-produce Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace.

With the 5 picks in the first 82 and a pretty good chance that Austin and Eifert could be available in the 18-30 area, the Dolphins have some very nice options. It's not hard to imagine them getting both Austin and Eifert. Just for sh!ts and giggles, imagine the Dolphins trading their first 5 picks (12, 42, 54, 77 and 82) for the Rams first 4 picks (16, 22, 46 and 78). Not sure how meaningful the old trade value chart is anymore, but that deal would be very even, with the Dolphins giving up 2425 points and getting 2420. The Rams move up a few spots in the first and get an extra pick in the first 3 rounds. Then the Dolphins take Austin and Eifert at 16 and 22 and maybe Eddie Lacy and Margus Hunt (who I am high on) at 46 and 78. Very, very unlikely to happen, but fun to think about. While that deal probably won't happen, the picks do give the flexibility to allow a lot of maneuvering to get the guys we want.
