Lines remain open...but his visit is done. What next?

I wonder how much this has to do with waiting on Long?

Somewhere out there, in an aisle in a Publix, Michael Egnew gives a little fist pump.

They said the belief is the Phins are waiting to gauge the market....sounds like Keller wants more then what we will offer.

I'd say probably no because Volin mentioned that the Fins were probably going to wait and gauge the market

Who's next to visit? I'm hoping Shaughnessy, Jones, Biggers, Grimes, Munnerlayn, Cason, Winston, or Volmer.

Sounds like the front office lacks conviction about Keller and don't necessarily see him as that much of an upgrade. Overall, I agree with this. Sounds similar to Alex Smith and Matt Flynn from last year. They liked the player, but not at the price they wanted.

This also tells me that tight end is likely high on the draft board. Cook was obviously the guy they wanted, but outside him, there really isn't much available in free agency.

Well...if there is one pattern that has been shown....

If they are convicted in a player, they will pay what it takes to get him. Or draft him. If they arent....they wont over pay.

Eifert got to be happy, this could be his shot to land at #12 spot. If Dolphins strike out in FA at the TE postion.

Call me crazy, but I think they are waiting on Long to decide where to go...that has to be the holdup since they've had quite a few guys in for look-sees yesterday and today and yet not signed anyone...

I think Ireland knows Keller really isn't going anywhere so he can't wait a bit... Feel like Long is the X Factor in all of this.

Relax, we have 2 2Rs and 2 3Rs. I foresee Ertz or Eifert in the 2R and we are good to go. No sense in paying a limping retread like Keller with a good TE class.

Imo, they are now being responsible. Ireland, one would hope, has learned, as every team's GM should that successful teams build through the draft. He is very likely looking for bargains now and not splashes.

A guy on Twitter just told me he was talking to Dustin Keller's brother and he said that Dustin asked for Jared Cook type money, that he wanted more than Martellus Bennett got.

I would say "no dice" to that too if I were the Dolphins. Again take this with the grain of salt appropriate for "a guy on twitter" (in this case @phinfanalyst).

Ya know....after the amount of time we spent on him....and....given "gauge" the market comment...and Barry Jackson saying something about..."a deal hasnt been ruled out"...Im thinking that guy is right on the money. My guess is, Ireland wasnt paying Cook that kind of money, he sure isnt paying Keller, and believes nobody else will either, so he said...go see what you get, heres our offer....

I think we may be revisiting Dustin Keller before long.

For everyone talking up Eifert, no TE is good enough to be taken with the 12th pick in the first round in this draft.

Draft Michael Williams in the 5th-6th round. Great blocker (Egnew and Clay are not), 6'7'' 270 pounds with good hands.

I am rather hoping we dont sign a top FA TE because I think there are some very good ones available in the draft this year.

Ertz or Eifert for instance .I believe both will be better than Keller eventually .

If we sign a Dustin Keller I feel that the TE position will lose its importance in Irelands priorities during the draft and that we will draft just a body with a later round pick that wont amount to much.

I have a feeling a trade for Jermichael Finley may be in the cards here.

I thought Keller was going to be the choice. After these new developments, I'm thinking Finley is entirely possible.

For some reason, I don't think Ireland/Philbin/Sherman think the answer to TE in 2013 is coming from the draft.

According to the New York Daily News Keller is wanting a multi year contract and Miami is unwilling to give it.

as much as I'd like to have Keller as our starting TE, I definitely don't want to pay him that much, mainly because of his nagging injuries.
