Bernie Miklasz @miklasz Don't get ticked at Jake Long; big decision for him. Career move. Have to just wait it out.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Bernie Miklasz reports the Rams are in a "holding pattern" with free agent LT Jake Long, and waiting for Long to respond to their offer. Proposals have been exchanged, now it's up to someone to budge. Most reports have indicated it won't be the Rams, who only want Long at their price. Long's "visit" is turning into an extended stay, but there should be a resolution by Friday. The smart money is on Long leaving South Beach for the Gateway City, but it's not a given.
Two possible reasons I can think of right now: 1) If reports are true that Mrs. long would prefer to live in Miami, the longer trip may be to give her a chance to see what it would be like to settle down there. Instead of just seeing the sights she could check out local daycares, stores, health clubs etc to see if they would enjoy living there (i.e. does she like the people and culture there) 2) Jake's medical may have raised concerns that are slowing things, or they may be waiting on additional medical test results.
hahaahaha. Tweet a message and I'll retweet it, putz. Just don't make it any worse than than my initial tweet- "Mom & Dad visiting some cold boring city. U know wut dat means- doggy style party at my crib! Bring da *****es! wuf wuf #HereComeDaLipstick! "
I just want to hear Jackie and Jake Long have boarded a plane home first thing tomorrow morning. Hell, I will buy them a kennel full of dogs to keep their dog company. Will throw in a 10 foot stuffed Aligator too. Hey, lets do that, put a pot together of gifts and send them to him I will kick in the alligator and a year supply of dog food LOL
Jake Long was never dominant? I looked at 8 left tackles and their pass blocking efficiency (percentage of total pressures per pass blocking snap) since 2008. Here is how they rank: 1. Joe Thomas - 3.6% 2. Jake Long - 4.4% 3. Jason Peters - 5.2% 4. Michael Roos - 5.4% 5. Ryan Clady - 5.9% 6. Branden Albert - 6.2% 7. Joe Staley - 6.3% 8. Duane Brown - 6.8% Prior to the injuries Jake has battled in 2011 and 2012, Jake was allowing a pressure on only 3.7% of his snaps. If you look at just his last two years, Jake is at 5.8% over that span, which puts him right around Ryan Clady for Ryan's career. So, even in injury plagued seasons that are sub par for him, Jake is still a top flight offensive tackle in the NFL.
Getting old myself. Twitter is not hard. Just use it to follow beat writers and players and leave the popularity contest part of it out. Thats what I do. It was fun to follow yesterday.
In other words, Ireland knows what the Rams are offering now,at least match it. I imagine Jackie saw the fine beaches of the muddy mississippi and of course the cheap cheezy casino's LOL what a dump that area, what a dump
yep, just up the guaranteed money a little if need be, but dont crazy on the per year #s be nice to have long back
Or show this picture of MISS ST.LOUIS to Jackie Long and tell her St. Louis socialites can't wait to be your friend Jackie
I know that is commentary of what the writer thinks will happen who put that snippet together not Miklaz.... I was just "ugh" to the holding pattern....
Those stats are a pretty strong argument for Long's worth. I've been torn on this but losing Long may be one of those deals where you don't know what you've got till it's gone. Good plays OL have are always overlooked a bit because nothing they do is "sexy". With a young QB back there looking to improve his game Long may very well be worth giving up the money for him to come back. I think KB turned the corner for me on Long with those stats.
I'd love to have Long back at the right price which is not his price. 7.5 or less I'm game. Even at 8 I'm OK. At 9 or 10 or more no thank.
LOL. I just wrote that on the @CharlieDoodle77 twitter page: "I hear StLouis is a great city...... for-me-to-poop-on. I kid-I kid. Okay no I dont."
