Seattle would like to welcome G Matt Slauson for 1.3M. Slauson was a top 35 Guard according to PFF and is a sturdy run blocker
The chargers would love to welcome Ed Reed, who will be paired up with Weddle and newly acquire hedibo Indingo(sp?) in a lot of 3 safety formations. Ed reed will be playing deep center field with weddle and dingo in an outside safety position if you will. Also proud to introduce chris Clemons to our dline, who really give us a nice mix to run either a 4-3 or 3-4 front. And OLB Barnes rejoins the team and hope to have another 10+ sack year And finally at the rb position we NE have our speed back in mike Goodson who should fit in very well with jackson and Harris
Oh nice...schisno bid on one of my targets. If he really wants him...he might get him by the time the draft ends. Time to schisno schisno ;p
The Texans are pleased to welcome yet another of the talented cornerbacks on the market in Carey Williams, to the team for $2M. We feel very good about our secondary now with Jonathan Joseph, Carey Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Adrian Wilson, and Danieal Manning in our defensive backfield.
Tennessee Titans would like to welcome Israel Idonije and Erin Henderson to our defense. Quality players for a combined cap hit of just over $2 mill.
then we risk running into things hurrying too soon again. If people want more bids, that could be done, but it might bring along with it a 72 hour wait.
What hurrying? Last year and years before I always liked free agency the way It was. Like 5 days of pure madness.
and then 2 weeks of *****ing to move up the draft because the wait was too long. Those that like the move to 24/5 have noted you (general you) can't just amass cap space and throw **** at the wall and beat people into submission anymore, you have to be cunning and use strategy, I don't disagree.
5 bids is fine. Quite frankly your team shouldn't be in such bad shape that you need to add a crapload of FA's in the first place.
The Colts would like to welcome (am I the only one doing this?) DT/DE Cullen Jenkins and the player the real Colts tagged this yr P Pat McAfee to the team.
Minnesota Revving Up Linebacker Crew Speed kills. That's the mantra the Minnesota Vikings are apparantly following this offseason as it relates to their linebacker unit. Yesterday the Vikings signed a trio of linebackers that are among the fastest in the NFL. The first one to ink a deal was former 49er and Bengal Manny Lawson. Lawson, who was timed with a 4.43 second 40 yard dash, is expected to compete with the speedy Quincy Black (himself also a 4.4 guy) at the strongside position. Lawson is an intriguing guy who offers the Vikings flexibility at several linebacker positions. Not happy with just Lawson, the Vikings also inked veteran Thomas Howard to a 1 year deal. Howard, perhaps most well known for his time in Oakland, is also extremely fast for a linebacker with speed in the - wait for it - 4.4 range as well. The Vikings are projecting him as a starter at the Will Linebacker position, though like Lawson he offers a lot in terms of scheme versatility. Rounding out the day, Minnesota signed Moise Fokou, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts. Fokou, at 6'1 and 236 pounds, is a little undersized, but offered enough physicality to intrigue the team. With "only" 4.65 40 speed though, he has to be considered the "slow" linebacker out of the bunch. Minnesota plans to play him at inside linebacker and in nickel packages. With these signings, it's becoming clear what the Vikings are doing on defense. Last year's starters were all somewhat slow and plodding - but this wave of signings is anything but. With a revamped defensive line, it's apparant that the Vikings are looking for speed and quickness out of their linebackers, if these signings are any indication.
The Steelers welcome ILB Brandon Siler who the team feels can potentially start at ILB while Sean Spence continues to recover or porovide solid depth depending on where The team goes in the draft. GM JMH also announced signing of NT Mitch Unrein, the type of player pitt wants for depth, a guy that can stuff the middle get in the backfield in relief of new starter Damato Peko. JMH stated that he concludes his major free agent acquisitions with CB Derek Cox who will stabilize the outside coverage for us. When asked for comment JMH stated he waas very happy with the fA class, it allows us to focus on BPA in the draft and not stuck on a specific need. "We got younger, added some toughness and fixed our cap mess".
The Texans are pleased to announce the signing of Drayton Florence for the veteran minimum. He completes our secondary as our 4th corner behind Joseph, Williams, and Fletcher, and ahead of youngster Asa Jackson.
Russell has been traded...... Oh no not Russell Wilson. I meant Okung. Welcome aboard Trent Richardson and Roger Saffold.
