Hopefully it turns out good for you guys. We won the last off-season, Philly did the year before, and for both these two teams (eagles/bills), not so good.
While I am a Bills fan, I have many Phins fans friends and live here in S Fla. I hate the Jets and Pats, simply root against the Phins because AFC East.

At the end of the day your Defense will still be good, not sure if I see a giant improvement, but you have to like a young Ellerbe.
I think Wallace is fast and dangerous, but Brandon Marshall he is not. Not sure he is that great of a route runner, but he is wicked fast....but then of course Brandon Marshall with a good head is...Calvin Johnson.

With so much salary cap room, your team is able to award these giant contracts. However, as early as next year, you are going to have some giant salary numbers. I wonder why they chose to make the number(s) so low this year, it makes me think that Ireland has more up his sleeve to go for more this year in FA still?

Oh and to be clear. I am jealous, truth be told. Who knows whether it works, but your FO sure gave you reasons to be excited!

It's always exiting to see big splashes on the team.

Yeah its kind of nice because the way I understand it is that if we can't really find anything we want to blow money on this year, we can carry that over to next year and the cap hit from the signings this year won't be so bad with the carryover.

We still need a couple holes filled though, we HAVE to get a CB at some point and time. We need a TE or draft one, we need another solid T or have to draft one. I do like the way this team is shaping up though. I also think a position that is being incredibly overlooked is RB, we all think Lamar Miller has the talent, but its a big gamble. I'd like to at least get a solid vet RB with good pass blocking skills.

I agree, and I thought they should have brought Reggie back and then also drafted RB in the second or third round. Reggie was a nice outlet for a young QB.

    Pats added:

    -Amendola
    -Abraham
    -Wilson

Amendola is a favorite of mine, he was a constant 2,000 all purpose yards player in Stl when healthy.

And are kicking the tires on Dwight Freeney, they did lose Thomas and Welker, but still they are not exactly doing nothing as the Jets and Bills more or less are doing

Though the Jets are close to adding Mike Goodson.

Basically, our season comes down to Tannehill's developing, were your season comes down to winning in the playoffs.

I think you meant to post this on the Seattle board.

They have won the offseason so far.

They haven't added Abraham or Wilson yet. They are visiting today, along with Freeney.

I would expect 2 of the 3, hell....maybe all 3...to sign with them on 1-2 year deals.

Yeah, we spent a lot of money, but we did something the Bills, Eagles, and Redskins didn't. We signed guys who upgraded our team, fit needs that were not easily filled in the draft, and still left money to secure Jake Long and sign our draft picks. Those other teams just threw money at names and assumed they would automatically equal wins. Also, the hit over the next two seasons won't be so bad, because we have a lot of expiring big contracts for older veterans that we probably won't re-sign. Starks can be replaced by Odrick and there should be some stud DTs in next year's draft to replace Soliai.

I want to see our draft haul before people start proclaiming we "won" any sort of offseason.

Winning the off season is something for the media to play with to enhance readership. A lot of teams have gotten better and the only reason ours are getting so much coverage is due to the amount we have spent. I like what both Seattle and the Chiefs have done and if the Bucs pull off the Revis deal it will be a pretty good off season for them when you add in the Goldson signing. Miami still has a lot of holes with which to be concerned. Two to three CBs, a LT, a RB, and one to two TEs are all positions I am still concerned about. I am even concerned a little about getting another legit pass rusher opposite Wake. With those number of holes I can't see the draft filling them all. Jeffy has more work to do

I don't want to win the off season. I do want the team to get stronger and fill some holes. So far they appear to be doing that. I do have concerns about our cap situation for next year though.

You shouldn't. We still have more cap space available next year than the other 3 teams in our division.

I tend to bristle at the idea of winning the offseason. It feels like a back handed compliment that implies you overpaid for big names. The only player I believe we overpaid for was Wallace. We actually reduced our cap hit with the signings at LB and pending the contract details, TE. We were also in a very good position in terms of our cap going in so one big contract isn't that much of a negative effect. And near as I can tell our cap situation looks very good going forward. I expect that we'll be tighter next season, but about league average in terms of cap space next year and better than that the year after. And with 9 picks in the draft (5 in the first three rounds), we'll still be a team that is primarily building through the draft.

Seattle, after signing Bennett, is most definitely my offseason winner right now. Combine that with their other signings and trading for Harvin.

You must be confused.... we signed wallace.... how does signing the best availble wr mean we've been the most sucessful ? If we want to talk about who's improved their team the most as of yet... we're way behind denver and other teams like tampa, denver.
