I really don't see how we can afford not to take Xavier Rhodes at 12. He's big, fast,a ballhawk and wraps up his tackles, good blitzer off the edge. I want this dude bad and cb is a huge need.

That's what I've heard. I haven't watched enough of either to have an informed opinion yet, but, I've also heard some on the board say that Jonathan Banks is more suited for zone coverage. If it's true the Phins are going to more of a quarters defense (which I love), then smart zone corners are what they need.

Florida State runs a zone oriented defense.

his physical play at the line of scrimmage and his overall play make him better suited in a press heavy scheme though, imo

Yea but according to report we are really interested in him so they must think he can do it. I do like trufant and jamar Taylor but both are in that middle area in too high for 12 but don't think they'll last until 42.

With our sudden plethora of WRs I think the position is covered...If they take one, I figure it'll be a later round. Hopefully we take 2 CBs in the early rounds.

Tavon Austin will be the first round pick unless a team jumps above Miami to get him. Dolphins hope cbs like Slay and Banks are available at their 2nd round selections.

Austin is tempting as the guy is a playmaker but after the Ted ginn experiment, I'm gonna shy away. While Austin actually produced in college at the wr position unlike ginn, that small frame isn't the most reassuring thing. If we are looking for another speedy receiver at less risk, swopes in the 3rd makes a lot more sense since he knows the offense and played with Tannehill.

I don't understand what Ginn has to do with Austin.

You mention a small frame but Ginn doesn't have a history of injury. They are nothing alike at all.

Both viewed as playmakers with speed which has skyrocketed both their draft value. Like I stated, Austin a lot more polished as a receiver but too small and not enough high of a need, we have 4 good wrs so unless Austin can play corner, Austin at 12 would be horrible

Austin is more considered a quick and elusive receiver and Ginn is considered more of a Wallace type speed player. I'm sorry but the comparison is just flat out incorrect.

CB is not a major need. We didn't lose games because our defense sucked, we lost games because we couldn't score. Austin helps us score.

I'm not comparing players, I'm comparing draft positions.... Ginn was selected too high because of his playmaking ability and speed or so they thought. Same goes for Austin, granted not comparing playing just positions, I believe Austin will be a good player but all the hype around Austin scares me. I really don't know how you can say cb is not a major need? We lost Sean smith, you really want to go into the season with dimitri Patterson and Marshall starting with Clemons at safety... I really don't see the point of resigning reshad jones next year if we aren't gonna give him any talent to work with.

Ginn was drafted for his playmaking ability, he was drafted for speed and speed only. Austin is wholly different. He's produced and his skills translate to the NFL. Ginn lust was totally about measurables while Austin lust is totally about tape. They are in no way similar other than being carbon based lifeforms.

CB is not a major need in regards to needing to spend early picks on one. We can get along just fine by taking the correct guys later. FA is also not over yet.

As for why have Jones if we don't have better talent at the CB position.....WADR, that is quite frankly one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

Oh and last time I checked we were 27th in passing yards allowed, playoffs teams don't finish 27th,lose their best corner then don't add top talent. Meanwhile our pass offense was ranked 26th and we've added Keller,Wallace and Gibson. So hmm let's think about it for a second. We lost our best corner and added 3 positions to our receiving core....I wonder which position we need more a 4th or 5th wr or a starting corner?

    Here we go.....

We are converting to a quarters based defense. We didn't have the pieces to do that last year. Its why we got the 2 LBs we did because they are good in space and are good at pass rushing, which is how we are going to improve our pass defense.

Or was that sarcasm from you too?

What an idiotic statement... Just because you have a good scheme doesn't mean you can just play scrubs..... Sure front 7 helps but we aren't gonna get pressure every play and there are going to be times when corners are left in coverage... Again there is no logical explanation why a 5th wr is more
Important then getting starter caliber corners... Haha kid wants to take an infant sized 4th receiver at 12

No problem, I can help. It's when people say bitter or ironic things with the express purpose of mocking someone or something.

Do you understand it means to grow up, bro? I'm afraid I cannot help with that one. But, you should do it. You're starting to look a little (get it?) midgetish.

The comparison is not flat out incorrect. Please stop pouting. It's evident he speaks to the wow factor that will be the deciding variable upon making the decision to take him. It didn't work for ginn and if doesn't scare you because it such a similar situation, good for you.

Ginn and Austin are nothing alike. There's no need, not whatsoever, to debate that. It's a situation that seems all too familiar. That's all. IMO any way. I,ve been feeling that way and Marino verbalized it but perhaps not with same intention so sorry if I twisted,

Who was that other wow guy? Pat something or other? It's just the beginning of every phin scary movie. That's all. IMO.

Pouting? WTF, is going here this morning?

Look, his comparison is stupid. They are nothing alike. If you want to make the ridiculous argument that it is simply about "wow factor", then fine lets do that.

I don't want to draft Clowney next year because he has wow factor but so did Ted Ginn.

    See ^, stupid statement.

You said that corner was not a pressing need aka you are ok with who we have at corner. So yes unless you don't consider Marshall or dimitri as scrubs ( and they may not be horrible players but far away from starting caliber) then yes you pretty much said we can play scrubs

Dude what about it has that same "lovin feelin" as a,l the other times did you not get? Nothing to do about the very distinct players ginn and Austin are. And yes, Austin has more than just wow factor. But if we take him, it will be wow factor that will seal it. Any statement in debate of that is^stupid statement, you don't sign 3 guys in fa and draft another *at one* cuz u needed another wr. You drafted him bcuz, "wow" we can't pass on this guy. Did work with pat or ginn and I don't want to bat a thousand. Definitely shouldn't have anything to do with the choice. It's just scares the hell out me, personally. If Ireland knows what he is getting, he won't be scared. And we may very well have one of the most dynamic offenses in the nfl next year.

Obviously to you it does as there is no other possible choice but to draft starters or atleast one. Who in free agency would you trust to start? Everyone left is coming off injury or simply isn't starting material. If I'm throwing a rookie onto the field, I want one with a bunch of talent and potential not a 3rd pick that could be ok.

And no I won't put you on ignore, I find it hilarious that a 38 year old man feels the need to call everything he doesn't agree with stupid or dumb, rather than respond like a normal mature person.
