Going into this year I no longer had much faith in RB but his nice little performance for those few weeks made me change my mind. However then he again got injured and at that point my opinion turned to he is a guy with talent but we can never count on him to me a major part of the team in terms of the team reaching it's goals.

I look at it now and we all hope he comes back next year. But I'll argue a case that Ronnie having a standout (top 3-4 back in the league) type year might be in fact bad for th long term Dolphins. Reasons? yeah, I have them.

Let's say Ronnie does do well and goes through the season uninjured. Ronnie or better said, Ronnies Agent would be an idiot not to press to get a contract after a good year (when the previous three were disappointing). It is becoming more common for players to redo their contracts a year early. Let's say Ronnie is asking for top 2-3 back money. Do you pay it and redo the contract?

I say no. Matter of fact I still would consider him somewhat a risk. I would hate to see the fins give big money to a 10 game a season guy.

    What do you think?

And yeas this is something I would consider when drafting or not drafting Mcfadden.

I think RB is an excellent back that has proven that he can not take the pounding of being the feature back for the full season.

The Fins need to develop a quality #2 RB to take some carries from RB every game.

At this point it is unclear who this might be. Booker? Chatman? RW? or a combination of the above.

RB was leading the league in total yards when he got hurt. I hope he fully recovers, but I think we have to carefully evaluate him and then decide in April if he is going to be able to carry the load in the future. If he is still gimpy than McFadden is an option, but I would hate wasting a first pick on a running back when we have bigger needs. I think Dorsey or Chris Long has to be our first pick unless someone offers us an incredible package of picks/players for our first pick.

If Ronnie comes back 100 percent from this injury he will be a top 2-3 back and worth every penny. He was one of the top players in the league this year when he went down.

if he comes back 100%, I love our current backfield. thats also depending on Parcell's opinion of ricky. RW, RB , and LB make up a very diverse and talented backfield. im not sold on Chatman as a legit NFL back.

Situational evaluation is not a strength among sports fans. That screams from message boards, and conversation in general. Admittedly, I didn't pick up many of the basics until loving to Las Vegas and absorbing from sharp guys.

You don't prove you're a top 2 or 3 RB by playing on a lousy team and earning cheap yards while the team is losing. The mindset of the opponent is completely different when they are racking up points galore. Early in the season, Miami's offense was more of an annoyance to the opposition. New England seemed almost amused when the Dolphins tried to stay within 25 lengths in the first half.

Ronnie Brown won't prove anything until this is a competitive team and he is forced to carry a load against stalwart defenses with the game on the line. I'm not saying he's incapable, but he don't have any evidence to shout yes. I've seen too darn many stutter steps and poor choices in the past, when he's gotten the ball in those game-deciding situations.

How about the opinion of Belichick who considers him to be one of the most dangerous backs in the league?

I don't see Ronnie as injury prone. He broke his hand on somebody's helmet. He recovered quickly ( 3 weeks) and returned for the last two games rushing for 100+ in each. This year he tweaked his knee and had any injury that would've happened to any player who did tweaked their leg that way.
As far as money is concerned, Ronnie got 2nd overall money and probably is getting paid more than a lot of veteran runners. Plus he doesn't strike me as the type to speak out over money when he's making a lot already. He just doesn't fit the type.
With that said, I still don't doubt Parcell's will bring in another running back. You can never have too many good ones and it's always smart to be prepared.

I was not sold on Ronnie until I saw a few of those nice runs this year. Never like when a guy can’t be the number one on his college team. Ronnie is not slipping by anybody, he’s got no moves, he just plows over and through players and always seems to come out on the leading edge of the gang tackle. The guy has matured into an NFL running back. I think he’ll be back 100%. Gotta love the hands, too. The Dolphins are loaded at running back. I’d consider trading him too, but he was a high pick, don’t know if we could get enough for him until he’s back 100%.

And you believe a thing this guy says.

I am sure deep down he thinks well this guy does not scare me. But you will never hear him say something like that. Everybody it a top player in this league. Everybody is dangerous and explosive

And herein lays the problem, when Ronnie is in the game he can do everything, block, catch, run for power, bounce to the outside.

When he is injured, we have no one who can replace everything that he does, we have a huge hole in our offense, Chatman cannot block nor catch, Ricky..well...Ricky is Ricky...

When we design our offense around everything that Ronnie can do, when he is out, we are sunk....

And that is "Why" I call Ronnie Brown a Coach Killer.

If Ronnie stayed healthy, he's in the Pro Bowl, no doubt about it. If he is ahead in rehab, and it sounds like he is, there's no reason not to think that he will be the focal point of the offense next season. We have a heck of a player here, and he deserves a shot at another full season before we declare him injury prone.

If you want to see injury prone, look no further than Toledo. What a waste so far.

Thats right remember this he wasnt injured because of a big hit or because he couldnt read the deffense.....he made a cut and slipped on the crappie field and tore his ligament after Lemons interception. He is a tough powerful running back without a passing game. Think about how helpful a good passing game is to a running back. When you can threat with the pass you are less likely to put eight in the box.....since we could not throw the ball RB made most of his spectacular runs and lead the league from scrimmage with eight men constantly stacked in the box against him. If you get him a QB and a threat of a passing offense he would shred the league. He wouldnt be touched till 15 yds down the field. Which would lead to a great injury free career from here on out. By the way I am a great athlete and tore my ACL and LCL about a year and a half ago and I was ready to get back to normal physical activity in about 10 months. I had a total ligament replacemtn of my ACL (I have a cadaver ligament in there now) and I am 100% fine without the best doctors and rehab which RB will deffintley receive. Just a thought I've been through it before so I know it can be done. I think our back field with RB and Ricky would be the best in the league next year if we kept them both. Its up to the front office and Parcells now isnt it though.
