Huge defensive collapse by the Lakers, funny thing is,they did the same exact thing to the Celts the game prior that Boston did to them in this game. The interior D is non existent for LA. Somewhere Shaq is smiling....

Hmm maybe this could be the 2nd huge chokejob by a Boston team this year. LOL. Can't see the Lakers winning 2 in a row on the road though, never happen...:shifty:

Would be about as likely as going 18-0 and losing to a mediocre Giants team.....:shifty:, I actually like KG, Allen and Pierce, being a Wizards fan I hate the Celts but I can live with these guys getting a ring. Its really hard to like Kobe despite the great acting job he's put on this year.

Agreed, he's been almost saintful. Even right now listening to his press conference he almost seems human......plus he just said his team "wet the bed" in the third quarter.

OK hopefully all this "Kobe is as great as MJ" talk will die down after tonight.

Phil Jackson also showed why he is very average coach. He who won 6 rings because of MJ and 3 rings because of Shaq. You aint a great coach Phil. Doc Rivers took you to school.

I don't get that? I've seen almost all of his interviews/stories. How does he come off as a prick?

Paul Pierce was not throwing up a gang sign. Yeah, that's the Bloods sign, but I think he was using the "B" in form of "Boston" and I thought that was pretty obvious. Most people didn't catch it, though. I have a friend named Warren who throws up the "Westside" symbol, and I don't even think he's ever been to that side of the country. He uses the W to symbolize "Warren"

i just want to hear what the Boston season long bashers will say when they win the title...

when they started out the season hot it was that they didn't play any western conference teams
when they finished with the best record in the NBA it was, they play in the east thats nothing special
when they had a dominant record against the western conf. it was well, this is just the regular season
when they beat the Hawks in round 1 it was, pffft the hawks, lets see them beat a real team
when they beat the Cavs in round 2 it was, they cant even win on the road they are done
when they beat the Pistons to reach the finals it was, detroit had to many injuries, and who cares its still only the eastern conference, they have no chance to win it...

i just wonder if there will be anything else left to say after they win it all...

and note, i am not a fan of the Celtics i hate both of these teams and wish neither was here...

Biggest upset of this series, by far, is the fact that Rivers has gotten the better of Jackson. Absolutely unbelievable.

Absolutely. Now's a good time to thank Steve Spagnuolo once again. Thanks Steve, you're the man.

Well, I think that the talk was that if Kobe could win this one, THEN we could start considering him for the MJ/West class of 2 guards. Big difference.

Okay, slow down there, tiger. The fact that Jackson's having a poor series doesn't mark him as an average coach. If a great player can have a poor series, why can't a great coach? 9 rings = greatness. There's no serious debate about this. By the "he won 6 because of MJ and 3 because of Shaq" argument, you can write off just about every "great" coach in NBA history: Popovich won 4 because of Duncan. Auerbach won 10 because of Russell, Cooz, Jones, and Havlicek. Riley won four because of Magic, Kareem and Wade. Holtzman won two because of Clyde Frazier and Willis Reed. Chuck Daly won two because of Zeke and Joe D. Etc. Jackson's use of the triangle offense got the absolute most out of his players and he was (and remains) a master of getting huge egos to work together and buy into his concept.

How sweet it is! After rooting for this team through some tough tough times for the past 16/17 years this truley is a long time comming. It's almost like how I felt in 04 except in 04 it was on such a larger scale. Still gotta win one more though.. People, including myself at times, are acting like its over. Its not.

Sorry Phil, I had MUCH more respect for Jackson before this series, and even more importantly before he started opening his mouth.
This guy takes media whining to an entirely different level. To be honest, I havent watched a minute of the series, and nor will I (Although I am obviously happy to see the Fakers losing out).
Jackson has taken every attempt to blame the Referees on every single aspect of the game. For him to do this at this point and this level is absolutely unbelieveable. Next thing will be him to say "Its our ball and were going home with it...."

Have to admit, this game was an indictment of Kobe, no way would a legit 'best basketball player on the planet' let his team lose that game. It is shocking that Phil Jackson is being schooled by Doc Rivers. Doc Rivers may have learned a thing or two.

Somehow I feel that Phil Jackson's ego got the best of him. Like he could just snap his fingers and everything would be okay... Like there was no way the likes of "Doc Rivers" could beat him.. something to that effect

Doc says that Pierce approached him at one point without even asking and said,

    "I am guarding Kobe"

See. That's what a Champion does.

This is the stupidest thing I ever read. Dwayne Wade the leader of the team who almost match the worst single basketball record in history. Dwayne Wade the one who shot 50 millions time from the free throw line. I'll take Dwade plus the refs from that finals any day.

Great quarter by the Lakers. Only 11 more quarters like that and they've got the Celts right where they want them. Where was this play when the Celts were coming back on them?

It's all about the defense. When the C's play good D, teams can't shoot above 40 percent. And the proof is in the stats. When opposing teams can't shoot above 43 percent for the game, the Celtics are 11-1 in the playoffs. The C's good Defense not only stymies the opposition but it gives swagger and life to their offense. A tale of two halfs in Game 4 and two quarters in Game 5.
