Read it was supposed to have happened this afternoon , but have not seen anything updated yet. I think we get at best a 5th.
Today, in a few minutes. This what i have seen so far Samuel Chico @insider815 RT "@ProFootballWkly: RT @mattbarrows: #49ers awarded three compensatory picks -- 4th round (131 overall) and two sevenths (246 and 252)"
Michael Signora @NFLfootballinfo 32 compensatory draft picks awarded to 16 clubs. Atlanta & Baltimore awarded most with 4 each
Daniel Eliesen @PhinsDaniel The #Dolphins were given compensatory picks in the 5th and 7th round #Dolphins get 5th and 7th round compensatory picks for losing Allen, Henne, Langford (gained Marshall). No other AFC East team got 1.
Nice, was hoping for a fourth but wasn't expecting two. I don't think we need to wonder how many we will be getting next year....
Will make up for loss of 6th round and now there will be 3 7th round picks. So, 1 in first, 2 in 2nd, 2 in 3rd, 1 in 4th, 2 in 5th, and 3 in 7th for a total of 11 picks. Very nice number. but my goodness the 49ers will be engaged in a regular buffet.
The Niners? How many they get? Quick question to everyone. They got a sixth rounder from us. Refresh my memory, when did that happen?
Ill take it. We signed Marshall so I knew we werent getting a 4. We probably shouldnt have even gotten a 5 but they felt bad I guess.
That's what I was trying to tell people. That the guy they were quoting didn't have all the information to work with and wasn't 100% sure about Marshall. Always doubted we would get a 4th. 3rd's & 4th's tend to be reserved for losing bigger guys then Langford when you signed others.
Hell yes we should have. That is the minimum for losing Langford and a 4th would have been more fair.
Its based off of who you sign and who you lose. Players you cut and cut players you sign have no role in it. So last year we lost as FA's Kendall Langford, Chad Henne and Will Allen while signing Richard Marshall. Contract size, snaps played and caliber of player play a role when picks are awarded. So Langford got something like 4/24, Henne got 2/6 or 6.5 and Will Allen didnt get a whole lot. Marshall got a 3year/15M+ deal. If he played more and played well we probably dont get a 5th for losing Langford but because he was hurt the contract size probably is what dropped us from a 4th to a 5th. Henne probably got us a 7th. Next year Pitt will get one because they lost Wallace to us for a big money deal (so theyre probably getting a 4). The Jets depending on who they sign may get a 7 for Keller (just examples). Because we signed Wallace and Ellerbe and Wheeler we probably arent getting squat for Smith or Long The Marshall contract dropped us a round. 3/15M+ is a lot compared to Langford getting 4/24. thank goodness snaps played counts as a factor....
When that comp pick guru did his calculations, he expected we'd get a 4th. He's usually very accurate from what I can gather.
I hope we can stay ahead of the game always by trading some of our picks this year for picks next year.
Tried to tell you he wasn't working with all the information. He was copying someone else's basic guide so he's bound to get the tricky ones like Langford w/ Injury signing incorrect.
That 5th could be important. Allows us to dangle our own too move up or flip it for next year. I have a feeling if Ireland knew he had a mandate longer than one year at a time he would do a Patriots and flip a few picks for next year. We won't see that this year, he's all in and knows that winning is a requirement.
Weren't we supposed to get a sixth rounder in the Vontae Davis trade or did he not play enough snaps? I would rather have the two 5th rounders rather than just recouping our 6th. I can't wait to hear what we get for comp picks next year if anything. Isn't based on the number of snaps played by the players you lose and the ones you pick up?
It does but because of the wallace, ellerbe and wheeler contracts dont expect anything. Actually the Steelers who havent signed anyone will benefit from the wallace deal...

There will be interesting talent still available in the 5th. It'll be just as interesting to see what they do with it.
Very BOTTOM of the 5th. Us getting a 5 and 7 is not very good. A bottom 4th is worth MUCH more in this draft than a 5 and 7, to be honest. Then again, who knows who falls. In my mind, I was hoping we take a flier on Marquess Wilson or someone similar in the bottom 4, but sometimes you have guys who drop like rocks, so they'll be available there as well. We have so many picks this year that I'm really really hoping Ireland finds a partner and moves one of our extra picks this year for a higher pick the following year. If we can turn that Marshall 3rd into a future 2nd... I think that's a pretty damn big win.
R jones was a fifth.. There is gonna be some players that have the talent to make this team in that round..that's a naughty little pick.. We got 3 7ths, time to start watching more guys.
It's essentially a 6th round pick though. This draft is pretty heavy in positions of need for Miami in rounds 3-5. It's nice we got a 5th rounder out of this, but Im just disappointed. Considering Josh Morgan got SF a 4th, Miami got jobbed a little bit.
Quantity is nice. Jimmy Johnson always said the more you have the better chances you have of hitting on starters and quality depth. Irlend really needs to make these picks count. This is our best oppourtunity to build a winning team around tannihill then we will ever have. Make it count!!
Honestly, Ireland can use that 5th on a risky venture. I don't think Honey Badger is there, but you can treat this as an opportunity to grab a Marquess Wilson. Holy upside! If he doesn't, then oh well, too bad. Sincerely though, we have so many picks in this draft (I think we're 1st or 2nd, with San Fran being right there with us) that I almost think it's a foregone conclusion that we trade one or two for future picks.
Ireland seems to be a fan of trading up at the start of what is now day three, so extra picks always helpful to cover any of our own we give up.
This would be a GREAT year to finally fix our Oline. We can double or even triple up on Oline to make sure we get the needed starters and some depth.
