That was Brandon Moore of the Jets who visited today.
Louis visited last week and he missed some games last season with a knee.

Which makes a signing impossible unless Ireland was on the first flight back or Moore is spending the night, right?

Anyone mind giving me the scouting report on this guy? In other words, should my nipples be at an 8 right now? What's the right #?

Signing Svitek makes even more sense if this is true. He is versatile enough to play on either side.

Couldnt Ireland and Aponte have worked something out ahead of time in the event that he wanted to sign?

Seriously don't know. I was really asking. Maybe someone here knows the proper tradition/etiquette/legality on these things. If aponte is moore's agent as I'm assuming then makes sense to me.

But on a serious tip, how many parties have to be present? Both the agent and his athlete? Just the athlete? Does Ireland need to be present? Can it be signed via a fax and the original couriered back?

Are you saying that you think Tannehill has better pocket instincts and can maneuver from pressure better than Luck?

The general manager and head coach are always there when a player visits. I am sure his position coach is in the building and some others but it does not make sense to visit if the GM and HC is 2700 miles away. Those are the ones that the player has to feel comfortable with and those are the ones that are in charge of making sure the player knows the team is interested and such. Could be he arrived in Florida today and is visiting with everyone tomorrow ? Or Ireland and Philbin came back and only Ross voted on the rule changes ?

Me too Roz, but I can't change my mind from what I saw last year, hell it coincides with exactly what I feared..

I'm totally willing to give him a chance but no way am I not gonna have strict competition for the spot this summer..

To me, as bad as it sounds, just looking at this from a business perspective, the smart idea is to replace the 9 million dollar salary you would of paid out to Long and replace that with a rookie contract, however the caveat being the replacement needs to have such a hi level of talent that he would need to be taken at 12..gotta be a plug and play type talent..if Lane Johnson drops then maybe we should think about it..idk, if he's not there then we don't have to worry about it, takes oline completely out of the picture..but we better get busy signing a left tackle to compete with Martin..

I would look hard at Volmer..what are we waiting for..

I thought we'd be going draft on this for sure. Have to agree on Martin but at least he didn't look as bad as he did in preseason. Season was bad but preseason was I'm a man crying at home about this kid bad. Just his first year. Long seemed to drop. Maybe Martin will grow.

I don't think people should be fooled by Brandon Moore's PFF grades because even while accumulating those grades he's shown his obvious mobility limitations. However his availability for this cheap this late in free agency is a PERFECT example of why I'm not a fan of Chance Warmack in the 1st round.

Do we know what sort of contract it would take to sign him? His PFF metrics indicate he no improvement over Jerry as a pass blocker, whereas Lance Louis would be. As a run blocker though, that's where Moore is a huge improvement.

I don't get A) Why we keep flirting with Winston. Two years in a row and we just hang out with him? Sign the guy or move one.

And, B) Why are we so afraid of Vollmer? What is up with that? The Pats may sign the guy cheaper than they were offering Welker ... We need to at least talk, bring him in, etc. ... He seems to be the best LT option.

If we don't sign an LT competitor, I fear we'll be desperate for one of the top 3 LTs in the draft (which could well mean a trade up and a waste of an extra pick). #ralph

I think they expected Jake to stay and keep Martin on the right side of the Oline thats why they did not get serious with Winston last season. Now that Jake is gone, yep, they are interested and most likely means Jon Martin is manning the left side in 2013.

As far as Volmer goes, maybe he is not interested in visiting Miami ? Just because fans may want Volmer does not mean Volmer wants to move to S. Florida. Most fans wanted Jake to stay, including myself and he just did not want to stay here.

So in reality Jake left over a little more money.
I would be shocked if the Dolphins give a damn.

This makes sense now. Hopefully neither will get out of the building. That would be great to land both players!

Then, if we could somehow squeeze in Umenyiora - I would be extremely happy going into the draft (even with the Q-mark of Martin). It would give us great flexibility.

Perhaps the most interesting thing in that piece was this:

Isn't the $7 M about what they need for the draft? That would give them near to $14 M to play with now (likely won't sign their picks until after June 1 anyway).

Don't want to just blow that but given how salaries can be manipulated with bonuses, etc. we could conceivable squeeze the two O-linemen in and a DE ...

No, Jake did not leave because of the money, we could have matched it easily. Jake had his own reasons for leaving. One of them was he needed a change. Start fresh somewhere else. Somewhere that would actually make him feel and show he was a valued commodity.

7 mil is almost a wash, we get it back but will spend 4 or 5 signing the rookies with about 2 to 3 for emergency purposes once the season starts. We are not in half bad cap shape for 2014 either so far.

I think the $57.75 million he made here did more than "show him he was wanted".

He left for an extra million. It's not a bad thing too call him greedy.

This is pure conjecture on your part, man. The facts are: St Louis offered Jake Long more money.
