Aye what I meant that it should have never hit the goalpost at all. I'm trying to also figure out how Croatia can fail to go to through the quarterfinals? Was thinking if Poland wins today then beats Croatia in the next match. Does that give Germany the tiebreak? Sine they beat the Polish and Croatia loses to them? Not sure if I had read the tiebreak rules corretly.
Well that solves that lol 1-1. Thanks bro . Not Croatian but a fan of them because they used to be part of Yugoslavia haha.
Hey Alen, congrats, didn't know you were Croatian. One of my best friends is Croation. I get frequent updates on your team, and have always rooted for them. Didn't see the penalty call against Poland. Was it legit? Or was the home team getting ish handed to them, as usuall?? EDIT: Just read your above post about not being Croation. Either way, you support them....so congrats.
Thanks. half Serbian, half Bosnian I am. The first goal shouldn't have counted as it was off-sides but too late now. As for the penalty, I missed seeing it. I flipped for once second to King of Queens and flipped back, it was over at 1-1 lol.
he drinks pepsi and likes jailsex... what did you expect...? by the by, as motivation tactics go: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=544984&cc=3888
It was Austria and Switzerland for pete sakes. I thought the game was over . I mean c'mon, did you really expect a goal, especially from Austria? Haha.
Whoaaaa, never buddy. Women all the way . Speaking of women and King of Queens, Leah Remini is hot. EDIT: I saw that article. That's hilarious.
PATHETIC CALL AGAINST THE POLES. Guess it pays to be the host country. I hate that BS about these tournaments.
Lol, they probably feel bad for Austria. They haven't been good since ..............yeah they probably feel bad for them.
It was a stonewall penalty. You can't grab and pull a man to the ground. Kudos to Howard Webb for giving it and hopefully more referees will do the same thing because it's one of the most ridiculous aspects of the game. It's easy enough to mark a man without pulling his shirt and wrestling him to the ground. It was an easy penalty and rightly given.
I am very proud to be a Croatian today, as we slapped around those ghoulash eating krauts. We kicked them in the BALLacks today.
Isn't ghoulash Hungarian? Wouldn't "those bratwurst-munching krauts" be more appropriate? Fine win for Croatia, though. Great job, and not only are they on to round 2, but they clinch first place in the group, meaning they probably avoid Portugal next round.
No - "those bratwurst-munching krauts who should be kicked in the arse for playing like a bunch of pompous pricks, let's start with Jansen" would be more appropriate. This was quite possibly the worst game I've seen us play in the last five or ten years. The only good thing about it is that we play Austria next and there's positively no way of losing against them other than an unwarranted penalty and they already got that. Speaking of which, here's a little joke that's quite popular in Germany at the moment (being the bunch of pompous pricks that we are): It's the day of the match between Germany and Austria and the German team is talking in the lockerroom. "Listen, guys", Jogi Löw says, "I know the Austrians are bad and you don't want to play against them, but we have to." "I have an idea", Jens Lehmann says. "Why don't you guys go to a bar and I play against them alone. That way, only one of us has to waste a perfectly fine evening." "Sounds sensible, Jens", Löw says and off they go. After about one hour of drinking, Ballack turns on the TV to see how Lehmann is doing. It is Germany 1 (Lehmann 10') and Austria 0. Satisfied they go back to drinking. After another hour, they turn on the TV again to see the final result. It is: Germany 1 (Lehmann 10') and Austria 1 (Ivanschitz 90+1'). "Damn", the German players scream and rush to the stadium where they find Lehmann crying in the lockerroom. "What happened?", Löw screams at him. "Sorry guys", Lehmann answers, "but that sodden prick of a ref showed me a red card after 11 minutes."
Just got back from my mini vacation to see the Holland/Italy game last night, happy for the Dutch and LOL @ Italy, man when things go bad they REALLY go bad for the Italians... Then Germany losing yesterday to the other team I'm rooting for in Croatia, perhaps we'll see a final without Italy AND Germany for once...
It's also fairly safe to say that this team gets NO calls for them and almost all questionable and even non-questionable calls against them. The Toni offsides goal, which was clearly not offsides, very very clearly. The questionable PK at that point in the game. The post that Romania hit was off a very questionable foul call on Chiellini. Coincidence or not, the refs put Italy up against a wall. Last game, I couldn't really argue the offsides call because they just got dominated for the entire game, but today in such a close game, those calls or non-calls are just too crucial. These refs just take these games into their hands all too often in these tournaments, like 2002 Korea against Spain and to a lesser extent Italy. The game against Spain had conspiracy written all over it.
Oh man......I am so sad/upset right now. Ok though, I get to take out my frustrations tonight - first game of a Provincial (State) Qualifying Hockey Tourny. Buffon is the best goalie in the world. The Romanian goalie also made a HUGE save on that double header when the game was 1-1. It is not looking good for Italy. We are going to need some help, AND A WIN!! The rest of my post is !
Too bad that happens on every set piece. It is a shame that they only call it to fit the agenda that UEFA/FIFA sees fit. That player clearly felt the tug, raised his hands, and fell to the ground, all while looking at the ref waiting for that very call. I have to disagree with you Boomer.
Hey boomer, how about the nullified goal? How do you explain that after you justified RVN's goal as the right call. And stonewall penalty it was not. Sorry, The Romanian 5 minutes later had a hold of Toni's arm and that wasn't a penalty either. The difference is: The no call on the romanian defender was the right no call. Questionable, yes, stonewall, absolutely not.
