New York Giants welcome CB Brice McCain and CB Elbert Mack. They will compete with Jayron Hosley for the SCB position and add depth to a young CB core!
The Carolina Panthers are pleased to welcome to the franchise: Sean Smith, Tyler Thigpen, Brian Urlacher, Nate Garner, and Felix Jones!!! All will be important parts to our team this season!
Jacksonville Jaguars finish free agency by bolstering defensive depth Dwan Edwards at the minimum is an absolute steal. He had 52 tackles and 6 sacks as a DT last year, and will come off the bench for us and make in impact on passing downs. With him and Ndamukong Suh, we can create all kind of mismatch problems rushing the QB in the interior of the line. Lawrence Jackson (6-4, 271) is added as a solid backup behind 3-4 SOLB Shaun Phillips. He’s averaged 4 sacks the past 4 years. Trevor Scott (6-5, 250) fill in as the reserve WOLB behind Anthony Spencer. He had 3 sacks for the Pats last year and is an ideal situational pass-rusher. Akeem Jordan and Gerald McCrath are athletic inside backers who should help a ton on special teams. Finally, the Jags add to what is arguably the best secondary in the GML by bringing in Byron Maxwell and Madieu Williams. Williams had a better PFF grade than Ed Reed last year at a fraction of the price. He’s an ideal backup at FS and more than capable of starting in a pinch. Maxwell is someone we’re really excited about. Given his size (6-1, 207), age (25) and quickness, he’s capable of playing CB, NB or FS. He was absolutely lights out last year when filling in for Brandon Browner and is ready for a bigger role. He will push Perrish Cox (58 tackles as rookie in Denver in 2010, 14 PD) as our nickel. On offense, we added Brad Smith for the minimum to solidify the deepest WR group in the league. He brings versatility to our offense and special teams.
