Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut The Browns selection of Datone Jones is ballsy and exciting. I love that pick. Datone Jones is going to be a stud! I think he's the best defensive player in the draft. Grade A+
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut We are ahead of schedule. Of course as soon as I say that. The Bucs are on the clock. Could go WR or TE. But that's not where the value is here at 13.
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut Sources, Bucs and Jags are talking for the 13th pick. 27 and 44 for 13?
Randy Kiper @TheRealRandyKiper @glazedonut With just three draft selections, you'd think a deal would get done rather quickly. It's gotta be #27 with either #40 or #44.
Randy Kiper: Our first draft day trade for 2013, Kansas City trades up after Eric Fisher unexpectedly falls out of the top five. This is a great pick, plain and simple. Many consider Fisher to be the best tackle in the draft and he has been shooting up draft boards everywhere. His foot quickness and flexibility give him a rare combination of athleticism that makes him so appealing for teams as a left tackle. With the passing game become more of the norm, an athletic tackle who can hold off the edge rushers are crucial to a team's success. Just ask Jay Cutler how important the left tackle position is, he'll be sure to tell you after he gets done styling his hair. The Chiefs basically traded the #1 overall pick for Ben Roethlisberger and Eric Fisher. Does life really get much better than that? Kiper Grade: A+
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut The Chiefs GM is a very stoic yet crafty presence. While some GM's are busy yacking about their teams, the Chiefs GM is quietly plotting his path to GM of the year.
Peter Kiper: Houston Texans select OT Lane Johnson, Oklahoma 10th Overall So far the first half of the draft is a bit predictable with the prospects being chosen, but a little unpredictable with who is doing the drafting. Lane Johnson was going to go earlier to the Bengals but with the fact Eric Fisher lasted that long we now find the Texans flipping picks with the Titans and taking the last of the big three tackles in the draft. Like I said earlier the Texans had some bad luck this offseason with losing key pieces to their offensive line and filled it with a lot of stop gap solutions but are able to set their line with the addition of Johnson. Possibly more athletic than Eric Fisher because he played some quarterback and tight end as well you could probably scheme something similar to the way Mike Vrabel was used in New England. This is a good pick with very little to give up to get one of THE it players. Peter Kiper Grade: A+ Tennessee Titans select DT Star Lotulelei, Utah 11th Overall It wasn't that long ago that Star was THE player in the draft, now he's fallen on some hard times as Jarvis Jones because of medical concerns. I think his heart situation will be manageable. Honestly, I really like this pick as Star is still the most talented defensive tackle in the draft and he can work well in either a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. The kid is strong and has all of the physical traits you want in a disruptive lineman. He can bust through opposing lines and break up plays before they have a chance. I might have had Jarvis Jones going to the Titans but I'm much happier with how this pick played out. Peter Kiper Grade: A+ Cleveland Browns select DE Datone Jones, UCLA 12th Overall I mocked Jones at the 52nd pick, but said he could be a first round selection. Top 15? I don't agree with it. I know Canglazer just glazed the hell out of his donuts over this pick, but for me it just looked like one of two girls aiming for a cup. He the Browns wanted Datone I think they could have dropped back a few picks. I would have taken the same deal the Titans got where they took a late round pick to get better value. I do think Datone Jones is talented, but he is that kind of tweener that might not pan out if he can't stand up and get to the quarterback consistent enough. I still think the Browns need to color that vanilla offense and that they overspent on defense value wise. Peter Kiper Grade: B-
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut mass confusion has taken hold. The Bucs and Bears are exchanging picks they already traded with one another.
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut Matt Goodell has stepped in before hugging Tyler Eifert, he has taken off his hat and jersey from the Bears and told him to go back to the green room. I've never seen anything like this at the draft before.
Peter Kiper @kingkiper Talk about being caught with your pants down. Chicago screwing up another draft day deal? #atleastitainttheRavens
Randy Kiper @TheRealRandyKiper @glazedonut Just imagine if it wasn't spotted right away... talk about long-term ramifications.
Randy Kiper @TheRealRandyKiper Sources say the Chicago Bears are looking to trade up for Tyler Eifert... could another team get in on the Eifert fun?
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut I was on top of it, just like I was on top of that box of a dozen glazed donuts.
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut Holy hell, the Ravens just jumped the gun for no reason and totally ****ed themselves in the process. Jarvis Jones is a buc, Tyler Eifer is in the green room and the Ravens GM is jumping off a tall building.
Randy Kiper @TheRealRandyKiper @glazedonut Well the Bucs GM isn't making any friends here after taking forever to make an illegal trade then pull the rug out from the Ravens.
LOL, this thread is hilarious, it keeps getting funnier and funnier. Vision of Eifer having to sit back down in green room had me cracking up. But that is not my f-ing twitter handle, I moved his *** as fast as possible, long-haired hippie.
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut Jarvis Jones went from having spinal stenosis and dropping like a glazed turd to being drafted by two teams with a minute of each other. Matt Goodell is pounding the podium. That's more contact than he would like to see in the NFL. Put a flag on the podium.
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut high drama here at the draft. I'm behind on my grades.. not that anyone cares. The Ravens take a safety when they seem stacked at the position. Apparently upset at the Bucs for taking their guy in Jarvis Jones. Meanwhile a certain golder domer is still in the green room, but for how long?
Peter Kiper: I just want to say that we have been through one of the wildest draft moments in GML history that I can recall. Once again the Bears are a part of the fiasco that screws up the Ravens draft plans. It all came down to the Buccaneers trying to acquire a pick they already have from the Bears and sent Tyler Eifert back to the change room. The Ravens not paying enough attention sent in a card to announce their selection of Jarvis Jones only to have the Buccaneers announce their pick after the deal that would have made Eifert a Bear was vetoed. Of course you have to wonder how the Commissioner could let a team announce their pick before their allotted time after vetoing a trade. Potentially the Bears have now screwed themselves out of Tyler Eifert. Pure madness in the world of the GML draft and if we get to pick 16 we will come a screeching halt as the Rams will fail to trade their pick for the next 16 hours... it'll feel like that for the very least. Now what do I think about the picks that legally happened? Tampa Bay Buccaneers select LB Jarvis Jones, Georgia 13th Overall He should have went in earlier but after Tavon Austin and Dion Jordan went earlier than expected a lot of the other picks got shuffled around. I like Jarvis Jones regardless of his medical condition, he is the kind of edge rusher teams need. He could be Aldon Smith or Von Miller, definitely a part of that new generation of superstar pass rushers. The Buccaneers get a solid grade from me, better than what I would have originally given those Bears. Peter Kiper Grade: A Baltimore Ravens select S Kenny Vaccaro, Texas 14th Overall I've never seen a team as angry as the Ravens are right now, especially after the last draft fiasco involving them and the Bears. I don't care how direct and indirect it seems to some. I mentioned Desmond Trufant here but I see they want to find themselves a new Ed Reed after losing out on Jarvis Jones. In the long run I think this will be a better pick for them as there are plenty of other pass rushers in the draft. Much like Milliner and the cornerback class, Vaccaro is above his peers as a man who can control center field and hit like a mack truck. Solid, solid pick even if it came under the circumstances it did. Peter Kiper Grade: A-
Peter Kiper @kingkiper @Canglazer, @TheRealRandyKiper Eifert is going in the next two picks, another team targeting him will be moving ahead of the Bears. #Ramsabletotradedown
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut Rams are going to select at 16 more than likely, unless the Saints take their guy.
Peter Kiper @kingkiper Spies inside Rams locker room are telling me that either DE from Florida State or Texas A&M could be heading to the Rams. #McShay=McNoShow
Jason La Canglazer @glazedonut Not sure why Peter Kiper thinks the Rams need another DE. Long, Quinn, Hayes and Sims. But if someone else wants to get one of those DE"s... there's one from BYU as well. Maybe the Rams would trade down. ALthough I'm hearing they have a guy in mind that hasn't been drafted yet.
