Looks like Miami wont sign him before nor after the draft. NBC Sports @NBCSports5m Osi Umenyiora to join Falcons on Sunday or Monday: http://bit.ly/ZewExe
Yeah, Dumervill and Osi are not in the picture any more. It looks like team will move personnel around and draft. I would think they draft a 4-3 defensive end with some pass rushing skills. Who is the best college kid?
Agree, not many options at DE out there. I like Carradine a lot, he could be available with our 2nd pick.
I like him, I think he'd do well here. It would be smart to offer him a deal that is well within our price range and if he gets more oh well. Overpaying for him would be stupid but getting for a fair price would make our defense better. Him and Wake would give us one of the best De combinations in the NFL. With bums for Qbs in NY and Buffalo we could win 4 games against our division rivals with a really good pass rush. And we'd be able to give NE a run for its money as well.
Ridiculous, imo. Obviously if they pay a ton on these guys maybe not. But, they fill a clear need. They are talented and would immediately upgrade the D. More than that, they free up Miami to get some special talent at #12. No way do I want a single one of the DE's in the draft at #12. I think there are question-marks in everyone of them that make them too risky. Carradine may be the best but he was injured all year. That too creates a question-mark. He might be value at 25 but not at 12, imho. I wonder what they think they are going to do with the $14 Million? Over pay their draft picks? They are $14 M under now and they have $7 more Mil coming after June 1. They need to spend that (the $7 M will be used up in draft picks; but the rest?).
I would definitely take Abraham or Freeney ... but I'd say as these others drop off the market that their value increases (unless no one wants them - but there's still 3-4 other teams looking for a DE, so that's not likely).
It will roll over to next year. You gotta think about the future too. Who knows what FAs will be there next March.
http://overthecap.com/explaining-the-nfl-rookie-pool-and-its-impact-on-the-salary-cap/ The rookie pool doesn't really work that way. This is a good website. Dolphins probably need to sequester 5 mil maybe a little less, depending on if they trade away or add any picks.
