I think many fans, including me, just want to see Tannehill continue to improve going forward, before we believe that he is the long term answer at the QB position. I remember there were many people on this forum and in South Florida who thought Henne was the long term answer at the position after his first year as the Dolphins starting QB. I believe Tannehill has more upside than Henne ever had. I think he can eventually develop into a quality starting QB in the NFL. That being stated, until he shows it on a consistent basis in the NFL, we still aren't sure if he is the long term answer or not. We all just hope he is.
I think the Dolphins are pretty happy right where they are with who they drafted, so I still think they'd take Tannehill. I also think Tannehill will be better than the fourth best QB in this draft, but in the end, I really don't care as long as he wins the most Super Bowls. Heck, I take that back -- as long as he wins 1 Super Bowl. I'm 45, and it's been a loooooooooooooooooooooo-ooooooooooooooooooooooooo-ooooooooooooooooooooog time.
If they win a SB with Tannehill at QB, I don't care if he was the best or worst QB in the 2012 draft. I will just be happy with the team winning a SB. Of course they still need to make the playoffs with Tannehill as their QB first.
