I'd hate to spend a pick when there's plenty of decent CBs out there. There's too much DL talent in this draft as well as OL talent to spend on mediocre CBs.
Not to derail the thread, but man, UD students went pretty hard for St. Patty's Day Weekend. http://www.whiotv.com/videos/news/raw-video-inside-look-at-ud-campus-disturbance/vtdMZ/
Signing Grimes would really make me happy. Healthy, he's a clear upgrade to our current corps. I really want to see another FA acquisition, either an OT or CB
Would be a great addition to the team. His wife is a little cray cray though. http://www.foxsportssouth.com/08/02/11/Grimes-wife-goes-on-the-offensive/landing.html?blockID=543617
Well if Mrs. Grimes would figure out how to heal an Achilles tear we might have signed him already. Seeing as how it took Mikael Leshoure over a year to heal from the same injury Im starting to wonder though if theres a chance Grimes is ready for opening game of if hes ready at all this season?
Maybe. We don't know how soon Grimes will be back to 100%, and there are several corners we could get in the 2nd that would bolster the position as well as any 1st round corner not named Milliner.
what bothers me is why anyone pays attention to the tweets of the wives/relatives of athletes. who cares what they think and why would you follow them?
You need inside access but this might be where he got it from: http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/nfl/rumors/post?id=3795
We have the advantage then. Let's throw out the fact that Miami is better than Cleveland in everything. Football, and beyond. If Grimes is confident in his abilities to make it back from his injury, I'm sure he'd prefer a 1-year prove-it deal so that he can get paid like an elite corner.
Yeah but then you look at Adrian Peterson and that's all a wash, it's player to player. I believe the part that would be holding Jeff back from signing a multi-year deal is Brent Grimes' age, on top of his injury.
TO me, that makes it even worse. It would be different to hire your spouse or family member to be your agent if they were professional and actually had ability. TO hire your wife when she's obviously an unprofessional, uneducated ho-bag just speaks to your own stupidity.
She seems to be a bit of a loose cannon, but I really do not know her level of education. Heck, she may have an advanced degree for all we know. Some people are both educated and whack.
Man, torn Achilles on a corner, with all that they do on that thing, that's gotta be tough..I wonder where he's at in his rehab, could we work him out?
Different injuries. Its nothing to do with Peterson's injury. It would be different if it were a Qb like when Marino tore his Achilles. Qb's only have to have a certain limited short area mobility but corners have to be the most agile players and have themost ability to change directions on a dime out of anyone on the field. The part holding Grimes back is that hes not close to being ready to play and probably wants a multi-year deal instead of a "prove it" type deal.
Didn't Suggs snap his achilles in camp or something ? Forget when he did it but he came back fine and its not like Suggs does not run around much right ? OK, I checked, it was 7 months after surgery that Balt. re activated Suggs and he played.
He was injured Sept. 2012, not sure when he had surgery but if you go by the Suggs deal Grimes SHOULD be ready May.
Thanks man, I would have a rule as a GM, that I don't sign a player coming off an injury of that magnitude unless I see you workout.
Again, same injury different position. Suggs pretty much pass rushes on every down. He has power, moves and explosion. Grimes needs to be more agile which is where an Achilles injury robs you. Name a cb who came back that quick and played well. There's very few. All good.
Do not know much about corners at all but Thanks. Thats why I had mixed emotions about Jake. I do not know of any Left Offensive tackle that had consecutive surgeries on his shoulder, then biceps, then triceps and came back and played well. The last one to my knowledge was Orlando Pace and when it was all over Pace was not a shadow of his former self. Rams released him, Chicago scooped him up and it was sad to see the big guy struggle. As you said DBs need to be agile, Offensive tackles use their arms and shoulders on every single play. Love Jake but I can see why they did not drop the mother load on him.
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora 11m Dolphins still not done in free agency - very much in on CB Brent Grimes, who played on franchise tag in '12. could land there soon
