An interesting signing. Never did a film view on him. I hope I like what I see. PFF hated him in 2011 but liked him better in 2012 (when he was healthy enough to play).

    Starter or depth?

    Ideal position?

I'm glad Irish is still working. Now get a damn DE or CB or both.

Well I can tell you one thing straight away. Coming out of San Diego State he was 6023 and 303 lbs and ran a ridiculous 4.76 at his pro day.

Sooo...we know why the Dolphins are attracted to this guy. :)

Would think RG Vinnyfins, with JJerry in the mix for RT with a draftee.

Background says he was a top 10 tight end recruit (in the country) coming out of high school. After suffering a knee injury in 2006 he moved to the offensive line. First he played right guard in 2007 and then he played right tackle for San Diego State.

Put that background together with his pro day results and it screams "zone scheme".

But then you put it together with his injury history and it screams "Joe Toledo".

    thanks Padre & parrot.

The notion of Jerry and Martin as starting tackles is unacceptable IMO

Let's be fair. Bess re-tested and was somewhere in the 4.6's. But point taken.

He got his *** kicked at Tackle but seems like a solid guard. He doesn't really seem as athletic as his 40 yard dash would suggest though

His knee injury was late in the season, so the question is when he'll be ready. Most Bears fans thought he was their best OL before he got hurt. His PFF numbers indicate he is a better pass blocker than John Jerry, or Brandon Moore. He had the 12th best PBE among guards with 25% or more of their team's snaps. Richie is 7th and Jerry and Moore tied for 21st.

I would think that this seemingly eliminates Warmack and Cooper from the #12 discussions, but I don't think we were considering them anyway.

Apparently, the Bears originally planned on moving him back to tight end when they drafted him.

Without knowing anything else, they went younger and perhaps more mobile with Louis in relation to Brandon Moore.

I'd imagine Moore was probably (rightfully) asking for more than what Miami paid for Louis.

Chicago media has said he was Chicago's best lineman last year and a guy they'd prefer to keep, though him getting a 1-year deal this late in the game, you'd just like to know the details.

How awesome would it be if John Jerry showed up to camp at 315 pounds?

Would like to see them pick up a Brandon Manumaleuna style offensive linemen-eligible guy, but I don't think they'll do it with Louis.

Allen at least hit him high and from the front. Not as dirty IMO as the Slauson block on Cushing.

Ireland & Philbin seem to have a good deal of confidence in our coaching staff to go after guys like Louis and what we're attempting with Yeatman.

Are you inferring that John Jerry would run over him and hurt him or that JJ would most likely make a meal of the Easter Bunny?

Dirtiest hit I have ever seen. Slauson lined him up and pounced directly into the knee from his blind side.

A 306 lb tight end???? Seriously?

Hard to believe it was a dirtier hit than when the jets scumbag hit Dwight Stevenson and ended his career.
