I find it amusing for anyone giving sh&$ to mike dee for what he's trying to do in this lame *** stadium and brand,
"Continue to explore design alternatives" pretty much entails the logo is done. You don't use that type of ambiguity coincidentally.
If anything Mike Dee stretched the truth. I mean in his defense, any logo we have seen was not the real logo. The leaked one was close, but no where near the final product.
Design alternatives could mean anything from different style hats to alternate or throwback uniforms.
Marino's tweet was that it hadn't changed much from the one he saw. The fact is that there were some changes and decisions were still being made. I wouldn't agree he lied based on that tweet.
Yes. If it were actually recursive, and had actually been in use for several years, we would be talking about how awesome that thing we just lost was.
The one on the NYC site clearly wasn't it. Different colors, different proportions, and the sun was totally different. Also, the pic taken was obviously from a trace table, you could even see the sketch lines extending past the sun.
No we wouldn't. When I was like 5 or 6, I remember picking the Steelers over the Dolphins as my "favorite team", because I thought the dolphin looked ******ed with the helmet on. Many, many, many people have hated the helmet on the dolphin from Day 1 on all of our logo changes and tweaks. Its not like people are just now wanting a gone because it is. Maybe some people, but way more have always hated it.
Personally, I think there should be an option on the poll for something between" I freaking love it" and " it needs improvement".....what about "I like it, but want to see it in full context before I fully embrace it or cry about it."
BTW, I wasn't here when it changed but I like thephins logo in my sig better than the new one...just sayin...
I'm just glad that our team logo doesn't look like a cartoon character anymore... That being said, I would've been on board with changing from the Dolphins to the Sharks.
It is what it is. I don't hate it, but I will miss my traditional Dolphins look. I understand this is a business, but Ross said when he came in he wouldn't mess with tradition and cared about our history, yet it seems every turn he makes he's trying to bury it.
Mike Dee looks like a troll that crawled out of someone's ***. He deserves all the **** that he gets. lol
If by "favorable" you mean "everyone is now embarrassed to be a Dolphins fan", then yes, it's very favorable.
DJ burying the Dolphins traditions is all I see. They have had the same colors, unis and logo in Pittsburgh for 60 or 70 years. I see no reason to change it so drastically, unless Ross is doing it solely for the purpose of making money. This is much like the Marlins rebranding, and we know how that turned out.
We'll see how they sell, that is the true gauge, not some dumb poll on a board of Dolphins fanatics - many of whom are Blind Homers that masterbate at the sight of anything Dolphins related.
Its not an easy job trying to rectify a cancerous multi million dollar mistake mr Robbie made.. How exactly is mike dee trolling again?... You mad cause he wants to reinvent a morgue of a stadium?
You can't please everyone. Some people are just negative people. I like the new logo. It's an upgrade to the older one but keeps some of the original elements in it.
See, that's just it. I'm not. That was probably my biggest fear (that I would actually be embarrassed). Is it everything I had hoped it would be? No. Not yet anyway. There's still the redesign of the uni's that can make it better (or worse perhaps). Regardless, I'm sure it will grow on me in time. But, is it embarrassing? No, not at all IMHO. Great point. What happens on the field is far more important than what they're wearing.
Because a Dolphin wearing a special needs helmet on a helmet is something that has never been mocked.
Now, I like the new logo, and agree that you can't please everyone...but to then call people who don't like it "negative people" is wrong, especially after admitting you can't please everyone. Some people just don't like it, no reason to say they're negative because their taste doesn't agree with yours.
I am coming off disliking the old logo more than I actually do. I do not dislike it. I own a lot of stuff with the old logo. However the idea that the new logo makes Dolphins laughing stocks, when the old logo is so silly, I find asinine.
I could care less one way or the other. Normally, I'm a traditionalist but in reality all I care to see now is this team improve and not disappoint and win some games.... New unis don't mean more wins so I'm indifferent...
Oak, it's been a steady decline of fandom for this town and franchise, their the worst in attendance, their worst in home tv ratings, they probably won't support a fair share to reinvent the worst building in football as it pertains to a real home field advantage, I say screw them now, they've had their chance to show some sort of connection to their team and they have failed, time for a change, besides, the color scheme sucked, it wasn't even close to our traditional colors, and the logo was never the strong part of the look of the team.
I wasn't a fan of the 1997 logo, either. In fact, you could almost say I hated it. The only logo I've ever thought looked good was the original one. I was hoping they'd bring that one back, or a modernized version of it that wasn't cartoony or "fat", as I thought the previous one was.
Except for uniform/logo change threads on here, I've never heard anyone say they didn't like the helmet on the dolphin. Obviously a lot of people here don't like it, I guess the subject never came up in person with people I watched the games with. I always thought it just looked like an old school helmet he was wearing, not a special needs bucket for his head.
