Ireland said in an interview, Louis will be ready for the start of training camp but not the OTAs.

I'm not concerned. I believe it's a good move for the future, an investment in a player with some unique characteristics that fit well with the stated goals of the blocking scheme. When you get him healthy and have him well versed in the system, you could end up with a guy that helps make this system work.

In fact this is the kind of move I've come not to expect from the Dolphins over the years. Whether that's justified or not you can judge for yourself.

When healthy he's pretty good. But it scares me, that he's coming off of knee surgery.

    Philbin's influence I surmise. It's very un-Ireland like.

Philbin said last year he wanted players on both sides of the ball to be able to run , be quick . Very much what we are seeing and contrary to Fat Bill's outdated vision. Ireland then said it was his job to get the type of players Philbin wanted . Pretty much what we are seeing , while I don't quite get all the signings I do sense a clear vision and really really like some of the acquisitions.

I would really like the Grimes signing if that unfolds , then we still will have some discounted FA signings plus the draft. A lot to be hopeful for imo.

Not worth it to get caught up in speculation as to who is responsible for what. Ireland is the GM, Ireland made the move, Ireland gets the credit (or blame). That's the only legit way to view it, IMO. But let's just say it's not the kind of smart, low risk, potentially high reward move that I've come to see them participate in often over the years.

I think the speed/athleticism template is the only real way to compete with the patriots as it is doubtful Belicheck will be outcoached, basically you need guys who can attack and make plays in all 3 phases of the game at key positions.

This is one of the reasons why drafting OL's with high picks is so counter productive

Woah, let's slow down there. Belichick is not some kind of football genius. He cherry picks from the systems of other coaches, integrates them into his basic system, and insists his players execute the system with fundamentally sound technique. In no way, shape, or form is he some kind of superman. The Wildcat Game proved that so long as you throw new things at him and keep throwing them at him his team won't be able to adapt enough to win the game.

Quite the praise for CK, being on the Omar advisory board. :)

You have to wonder why teams invest in man blocking schemes with far more expensive RBs? What's the point?
