I wouldn't assume this is a great signing as you're exactly right. If they get the most recent Nnamdi Asomugha, they're not getting richer at all.

But the 49ers do a lot more winning than the Eagles, who only talk about winning and don't do too much actual winning. The 49ers were pretty close to winning it all. That could get Nnamdi re-invigorated.

Getting a Nnamdi Asomugha with his batteries re-charged is no something just any team could do, IMO. The 49ers probably have the best chance.

This was a part of what made Harbaugh so appealing, the ability to inspire football payers..I'm a bit perplexed as to the veteran approach, would think he's more of a mold a young guy approach, but winning in today's NFL requires being flexible..the guy is the modern day Lombardi.

That team has too many first rounders on it..

    over there
Asomugha will earn $1.35 million in base salary with a chance to earn an additional $1.65 million in incentives :headscratch:

Could have added him too for that much?

wouldn't surprise me if he resigned with Giants. He would be nice to have if his price drops.
Either way, we need to draft another RB.

Brandon Albert and that Colts 2nd rounder. That's a likely possibility during the draft. It would cover Miami's team needs making the draft essentially a maximum talent acquisition draft.

How much better is Brandon Albert (LT)+ Martin (RT) than Martin (LT) plus Winston (RT)? Is it 4-5m a year plus a 2nd rounder better?

so whats your thoughts on Rolando McClain, finally let go by the raiders, still only 23 years old, only a 2 down guy probably but maybe an upgrade in depth for our squad, we have wheeler who could help with a little scouting report on him, he could end up in cleveland though, lombardi was a big fan of him

I wouldn't sign McClain if he put a gun to my head. I lie, I probably would sign him then.

Instead of McLain I would rather see us go for an OT like Winston or Albert, then our draft could pretty much be BPA at almost every spot IMO.

I say put away the checkbook for now... Let's use the 11 picks to further stock the roster. We already have a lot of new faces and a leadership void. I think it'll take the 5 pre-season games plus a few more for the team to gel. While I like the moves Ireland has made, that's my only concern.

Odds on Someone Putting a Gun to Dol-Fan Dupree's Head:

    Rolando McClain - 100/1
    The Field - 200/1

Joe Philbin may or may not have the iron grip on character and personality that it seems like he does...but this is one case where his concerns would win. All Rolando McClain would be to Miami is a two-down mike linebacker. They bought Ellerbe and Wheeler to be the three down guys. You can find a two-down mike linebacker and you don't need to 'pay' for it by welcoming a guy with Rolando's piss poor character into the locker room.

After two weeks of quiet on the FA front, I believe were going to see a flurry of FA signings in the days leading upto the draft. FA's wil lose whatever remaining leverage they have once teams reload with young, innexpensive draft picks. Guys like Eric Winston are posutring for a better deals from the Dolphins and others, but their leverage goes down immeasurably once a team select an OT in the first 2-3 rounds.

Unless some of these guys wait until players start getting injured during training camp, there may not be a better time for them to sign then now. Window is closing.

They are basically asking a guy to take a pay cut for the team to be able to afford a guy who is going to try and take his starting job. I'm not sure why any agent would agree to that.

I didn't say he would land in Miami. I said he would be a potential option though. Jeff Ireland drafted him.

the jets have no picks to spend a 2nd rounder on a RB, maybe if they would get that #13 from tampa, but still then i don't see how they could throw that high 2nd rounder on a RB

I've been speculating this offseason that we should look into trading for him...I'd part with one of our thirds for his talent.

I don't have Ball making it til that point in the draft...ivory has some beast ness in him.
