This is very true...but you know what.

So is this. I can't stand watching that buttchin having Tammy Brady piss and moan on every single play that doesn't go his way. He is indeed a vagina that wears a helmet.

You saying so doesn't make it true. The only year I remember Brady heaving bombs was when he had Moss there to outrun/jump everyone else for the ball.

Prior to Moss Brady's average QBR was around 86. He averaged about 220 yards passing per game. His TD % was around 4.5. He averaged about 3500 yds passing with 25 TD's and 13 INT's per season before Moss.

Moss comes in and he throws for 4800 yards with 50 TD's. His TD% jumps up to over 8 and his average passing yards per game is 300.

The stats and facts show that Brady is not a down the field passer. He's a dink and dunk, run via the short pass type of system QB. He's extremely smart and works as hard as anyone I've ever seen, but he's not as good as the media hypes him as.

If Brady played for the Dolphins when Marino did he would have been traded, cut, or out of the league in a few seasons. His athletic ability is just not that good.

I'll refrain from the partying until after Belicheat retires. He's the main reason they have been so good for so long.

Actually, I don't think Brady is a Patriot when he's 38. IMO, I think BB knows this too and will trade Brady while he still has some tread on his tires. A few years ago I wouldn't have believed that, but after seeing what the Colts did with Manning, and how the majority of Colts fans were OK with it, the same will happen with Brady. Brady will not, however, have the same success with another team like Manning has had.

It's pretty well documented that Brady has an amazing work ethic, which explains why he was able to rise to the occasion. I mean, we're all Dolphins fans here, but let's call a spade a spade.

Brady absolutely whines and calls for flags. He's also an incredible quarterback with a tremendous work ethic.

    I mean, http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/06/ray-lewis-work-ethic-makes-tom-brady-the-greatest/

It'll be great once he's gone. I hope that we've got ourselves the next Aaron Rodgers in Tannehill and Patriots fans will argue about him :)

Nearly all HoF QB's (sans Namath) should be considered one of the greatest of all time. However, an active player speaking publicly about another active player means little. Most NFL players have respect for each other and won't bad mouth another player. Suggs, however, seems to not want to abide by that rule. lol

20 HoF QB's voted on who is the better QB. here are their results:

    Voting results

    For Peyton Manning: (13½ votes)
Troy Aikman (Class of ’06), George Blanda (’81), Len Dawson (’87), Dan Fouts (’93), Bob Griese (’90), Sonny Jurgensen (‘83), Jim Kelly (’02), Warren Moon (’06), Joe Namath (‘85), Clarence (Ace) Parker (’72), Fran Tarkenton (’86), Y.A. Tittle (’71), Charley Trippi (’68). Joe Montana (’00) (second half)

    For Tom Brady: (2½ votes)

Terry Bradshaw (’89), John Elway (’04), Joe Montana (first half)

    Abstain:
Dan Marino (’05), Bart Starr (’77), Roger Staubach (’85), Steve Young (’05)

I count Montana's as abstaining. So, 13 for Manning, 2 for Brady.

Marino was a better Passer than Brady...and sadly Brady has shown to be a better "QB" and all that entails..vagina or not he has 3 rings and will have the higher ranking in the history books because of that. I personally would still pick a 21 year old Marino over Brady if I was starting a franchise...you can't teach arm strength timing accuracy and release speed.. all things Marino had over Brady.

Championships are team accomplishments/measurments. The early 2000 Pats are one of the greatest teams of all time. If Marino had been lucky enough to play for the Pats he'd have at least 3 rings. If Brady had played for the Dolphins (when Marino did) he would have become some back-up journeyman and not have come close to what Marino accomplished with them.

I will disagree with even this. Marino was a leader of men, the type of guy who could get 110% out of the entire team all the time and push himself to 200% just to get the win. You can talk about how Brady and other modern QBs know how to put it all on the line in the big games, Marino did it every game. If JJ didn't insist on running a middle school offense (and that's being charitable, considering the middle school offenses that are run these days), we'd have won at least one Super Bowl.

You can talk about whether a certain QB is the result of a system, but you'll never hear Marino mentioned in that discussion because in the back of everybody's mind is the fact that you could put Marino in any system and that system would be twice as good.

I could have worded that better. You said he was already past his prime. Not that he will be past his prime in 2 years. "He is already past his prime."

Nobody took issue with that. 2007 was his peak. He's off that peak. When you got called out for saying "Tom Brady will cease to be relevant in about another 2 years" you start to talk about being past his prime again. That's what I mean, and I should have been more clear.

You already said he's past his prime. Fine, Nobody is taking issue with that. Your argument that he will cease to relevant in 2 years is getting called out, but you want to keep moving it back to "past his prime" is what I was talking about.

Brady broke one of Dan's records... By two TD's and at a time when everyone is throwing for 40+ TD's.

During Marino's best years he was still throwing for 3-4% INT. That's really high. I understand the rules were different, but Brady threw for 0.8% INTs which is outstanding.

yes the rules are different, but right now Tom Brady has thrown for a higher percentage of TDs and a significantly lower number of INTs.

Dan had a magical, revoluationary 3 years starting in 1984. after that ... he was almost Elway'esque. The good thing is, the longer he played, the more he controlled his INT's allowing it to come down to the 2% range yearly at the end of his career.

Did you know after his magical run from 1984-1986 Marino never led the league again in TDs? Crazy right? He was beat by the likes of Joe Montana, Jim Chris Everett, Warren Moon and Boomer Esiason. Then Steve Young took over in 1992. Then Brett Favre starts putting up crazy numbers as well hitting almost 40 a few times, and always above 30 (with the old rules).

I never knew that until I was just looking up his stats right now. The more I look at it, the more I wonder, was it just the halo effect? After 1986 Dan's career was good but not great. Only putting up 30 TDs just once the rest of his career.

    I need a drink.

I've addressed both points, but I want to keep moving back? Back to what? You said I never said 'x' but I actually did.

I haven't moved anything to anywhere. I have addressed him not being relevant as well and that has not been moved either. You seem to be hanging to the 'moving' part and I'd to see an example of me moving anything anywhere. How can be moving it when I have addressed both?

He is past his prime, and yes I believe he won't be relevant in two years. Nothing is moving.

I think this is really stupid argument if you ask me, not this specific post, just happen to hit reply to this one. WHat has Con said that was untrue? brady and manning are past their prime. he said he believes Brady will not be relevant in 2 years. And the argument is? you disagree? How many years til Brady breaks down. I can tell you that I am not sure 2 years is when but I believe it will be within 2 to 4 yrs at most. they are getting older on the line, yes some young parts but the vets, brady has been kept upright and healthy but how long can his body take hits before a simple one just hurts? I dont think saying 2 yrs is wildly overstating things.

really a pointless argument in that noone can be proven wrong at this juncture

Just goes to show you how useless stats can be, doesn't it ?? Also shows you how putting a team around a guy like that makes all the difference in the world... I'm a homer having been a Dolphins fan since 1967, but this post doesn't mean anything in how to evaluate the impact Marino had on his team...

I think the argument hinges on two things here: the wide spectrum of "past his prime" vs "not relevant" and also on your definition of "not relevant". The second... that's even more subjective than the first so it kinda goes without any useful debate. , in my eyes, so that leaves us with the past his prime vs not relevant...

Brady is clearly past his prime. There's no arguing that. And is he likely to get any BETTER? No, no he's not. His physical ability is deteriorating as time goes on. But now you're expanding the time table, which is the exact thing people (myself included, obviously) have taken issue with. 4 years? Yeah, I can see that. But the argument being made was "Who is relevant at 37-38 years old?"

That's the argument here. And to me, it's a silly one, because you can name one that's still relevant in today's league - Peyton Manning. That's pretty much the whole point. It's not some foregone conclusion that within 2 years Brady will be out of the league or a backup journeyman, or some middling starter. There have been guys at the age of 37-38 that have performed at a fairly high level. Yes, these guys have been the elite members of the quarterback club, but it just so happens that Brady is a member of that club, whether we like his team or not. He's proven at every stage to be an elite quarterback, so I'm not saying it's guaranteed that he'll be producing at a high level in 2 years, but there's certainly no reason to doubt that he won't be.

In the end I think you summed it up perfectly with your last sentence and I couldn't say it any better if I tried. Nobody knows for sure what will happen, we can only argue current evidence and what it suggests to us.

Arguing semantics is a waste of time when arguing opinions. argue why you think he isnt or wont be irrelevant, why argue the poster being wrong? Argue why you think Brady wont be. It is not out of teh realm of possibility that he is right. yes Favre at 40 played in Champ game but was pretty much done after that. his last gasp.

after 40 how many qbs were the best of teh best? after 40 they go down hill quick in can happen in one season, it has happened, so to just say he is wrong in anything he said is factually incorrect. It is his opinion

I think that's what everyone has been doing - arguing why making the conclusion of Brady being irrelevant by 37, so I'm not sure what else there is to be said there.

As for the argument itself - You can't double the time line and expect it to be the same discussion. It was 2 years -> 37 years old for Brady (38 during the season). Not 4 years, or 40 years old. That's an entirely different discussion. The whole thing hinged on the age 38. 2 years may not seem like a big difference but you know as well as I do that those 2 years, in the world of football, are huge.

I've seen that kind of sentence before. Where was it exactly? Oh yeah thats right I wrote this at least 1 page ago:

Funny how some didn't take notice of that but yet agree with your last sentence. Seems that some are trying to find something, all the while not noticing what has actually been said. Yet they go out of their way to try and dismiss sentences like that as if they never existed.

But those same people looking for something, who speak to others as if they're stupid can't see a forest for all of the trees.

Funny how that works out huh?

As I've already said, if you wish to say I've done 'x' maybe you should see if that has actually been done, or if its just a case you thinking it has.

You can't make this **** up.

Pats fans know the end is near with Brady. They'll be lucky to get three more good years out of him and then they are faced with the same situation that Miami was in after Marino. Let'em whine.

    Good.

I have all the respect in the World for Brady but **** him. He's been kicking our asses for a decade. I just hope he does not retire before he gets to stand on the sideline one day while we beat the Pats by 40 in his building. It's the only team in the league I want too run up the score and go fully "no class" on. Up by 35 in the 4th quarter? All the starters in the game, passing on 3rd and 2, I NEED that.

Pats fans (I run into a lot of them on Bruin message boards) are THE most arrogant, presumptive *******s. They are the worst fan base in the league. Wait until they are garbage again (the day is coming), Kraft's building will be half full and he will be singing the blues. People seem to forget them playing in front of friends and family at the old Sullivan Stadium, going 1-15 and being a total joke of a franchise.

    **** them....their day is coming.

Are you comparing Brady's 11th year in the league (and only his 11th year) to Marino's first 4 seasons?

If you're going to compare, compare apples to apples. Look at Marino's first 13 years in the league and compare them to Brady's. Brady has a 5.6 TD% while Marino had a 5.5 TD%. Brady has a 2.1 INT% while Marino had a 2.9. Brady has 20 less TD's and around 5000 less yards passing. Brady led the league twice while Dan did 5 times. And he wasn't just barely beating people, like Brady has, he was blowing everyone else out of the water.

All of this may not seem like he's beating Brady by much, but think of their repective eras. No one...and I mean no one was doing what Marino did during those years. Go and look at the first 13 seasons of those other QB's you mentioned. A lot of QB's today are doing what Brady is doing.

In 1982 Montana led the league in TD's with 17. Marino, in 1984 put up 48. That alone should tell you something about how good Marino was.

Pro-football-refernce.com has compiled all QB stats since 1950 and compared them to each other.

They not only use stats, but other objective things like how many years did he play? how good were his best years, compared to his worst years? did he have a few great years and then several mediocre years, or did he have many good-but-not-great years.

Tom Brady has had a similar career to the following QB's:Brees, Staubach, Trent Green, Warner, Cunningham, McNabb, Garcia, Gannon, Brunell, Bert Jones

    Marino's career was similar to:

Unitas, Elway, Tarkenton, Favre, Montana, Ken Anderson, Moon, Fouts, Manning, Bradshaw

    Who had the better career?

First, I never said or agreed with anyone who said Brady will be irrelevant at age 38. That remains to be seen.

As far as Marino, you're right, but that doesn't change the fact that today's QBs have it a lot easier than Marino did and when making a comparison it has to be considered.

And your point about Favre and Warner having outstanding seasons later in their careers backs up my point. A little bit with Favre, and definitely very much so with Warner these were guys who were starting to show their age a bit. Warner was one more ****ty season away from being written off. Then the post 2005 season rule changes roll around and these were QBs smart enough and still good enough to make them work to their advantage. Different rules, passing got easier, they were able to extend their careers.

Brady did it to Miami in overtime in 2003. Throwing an 80 yard Td to Troy Brown. That pass waa in the air an easy 60 yards and it was dead on the money. As much as it pains me to say...

If he can, like you say, I'm sure you can link or tell us where you got your stats from, right?

Completion percentages, in 2011, on passes thrown 20+ yards in the air:

    Brees: 51%

    Stafford: 36%

    Rodgers: 53%

    Newton: 34%

    Vick: 32%

    Brady: 24%
    Flacco: 23%

You may be right, but I was at that game ( huge heartbreaker) and I remember it being 40 or less. I can throw a football 40 yards and hit a wide open receiver. Most guys with an ounce of athletic ability could. Brady, however, has not made those long, tight coverage passes on a consistent basis like Marino used to do. The 2011 stats show that he's not that good at throws over 20 yards.

Brady's not in the top 10 when you look at completion % and he's 10th in total yards for passes of 20 or more yards.

One more glaring stat is total TD's from passes 20 yards or more. Brady had 23. P. Manning had 20. If you guys remember, however, P. Manning missed one of these 3 seasons. Flacco, Rodgers, Rivers, Brees, and E. Manning had more TD's than Brady.

Anyone that thinks Brady is a down the field thrower is on drugs....

    One more:

In 2012, on passes 0-9 yards, Brady is 7th in the league for comp% with 82%. Aaron Rodgers was first with 87% (P. Manning 85%). On passes 10-19 yards, Brady completed the league average of 62%. RGIII led the league at 77%. Rodgers completed 70% with Manning at 71%. Brandon Weeden rounded out the top 10 with 67%. On passes 20+ yards Kaepernick led the league with a 55% comp rate. Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning were tied for 2nd with a 53% comp rate. (So much for Peyton's arm strength questions, huh?) Matt Ryan was 10th with 44%. PFF didn't list where Brady was at, but because of what they did show he falls between 43% and 32% which is which is somewhere between 11th and 29th.

Brady is just as deadly with the long passes. As much as I hate defending a freaking Patsie, when he had Randy Moss and Gafney, he threw deep a lot more.

I was also at that game and it was a bomb that was in the air forever. At least 50 yards

Well, the stats prove that he's not that good in regards to the deep passes.

Again, you may be right, but I remember that pass differently.

Alright, I'll go with strictly numbers and agree with you....the guy is terrible.

    Wait...no I won't.

Numbers lie. Statistics lie. I'll go by what I have actually watched for a decade.

The guy has 3 Super Bowl rings, 2 time NFL MVP, 3 time offensive player of the year, 17-7 playoff record as a starter, RIDICULOUS numbers, all decade team and has kicked our asses for a ****ing decade+.

You go with your numbers if it makes you feel better.
