Graham, Unitas, elway, Marino, favre, manning, staubach, Montana, tarkenton, fouts, Starr, Bradshaw, Baugh,
How does anyone legitimately throw Baugh's name into Top QB conversation these days anyway? He played his last game in the early 50s and I doubt there is an abundance of readily available footage of the fellow playing. Even the old timers here aren't THAT old.
That's because I don't cherry pick stats. Bradshaw was slaughtered each and every week. He was able to perform under more pressure than any QB I've ever seen. Yes, the Steelers won back then with one of the best defenses ever. Bradshaw was a top QB in the league and maybe one of the toughest football players ever.
Also, in regards to Baugh... 6 time passing champion, 9 x all pro... How any couldn't have him on their all time great list. Also, I compare players to their peers. That's the best way to determinegreatness
Youre close, but still didn't comprehend what I wrote. Go find that post and quote it... I'll explain the word "nearly" for you.
I pretty much agree with what you wrote about Brady. He's pinpoint accurate up to about 10 yards and he wilts under pressure also.
And I'm sure he threw 5x more passes than 30 of them. Most deep passes are caught between 15 and 25 yards and he is super deadly with those type of passes and just deadly with the longer throws...
Yeah, I gotta agree. I also think the vast majority of that list is/was a better QB than Tammy Buttchin....but Terry Bradshaw aint one of them. I would maybe add Dan Fouts to that list. That dude could throw a Bomb through a damn garden hose if he had to. Troy Aikman? Terry Bradshaw is right there with Billy Kilmer. Neither could throw a spiral, both are ugly as Rosie OFat and both were very very entertaining gentleman...but neither were particularly great QB's.
Gee, thanks all knowing football number cruncher. A noob with a calculator and a few links, spending a lot of time trying too convince me my eyes have been lying too me for a decade. There is absolutley nothing you can tell me, no statistic you can dig up, no arguement you can make that will make me think anything different than what I do about Tom Brady. The guy is an all time great....and I loathe him.
Actually, according to PFF's stats, Brady does very poorly when pressured. I've already given you tons of stats, some compiled by PFF which weren't free. So, go buy a subscription and learn something.
Don't be so sure. Not only does Brady not complete the long throws ( that's why % are better to determine this) but he attempts way fewer. Again, purchase a PFF subscription if you don't want to do the homework yourself.
Fouts is on my list. Aikman and Brady are very similar except Aikman had a stronger arm and didn't wilt under pressure. Aikman is probably on my top 20 list...right around where I'd put Brady
There's your problem. You think because I'm new here that I don't know football. Your biggest problem, however, is that nothing will change your preconceived ( and very wrong) opinions. Not even objective proof. If someone could show me that Brady is good at throwing deep and doesn't wilt under pressure I'd have no problem changing my view or opinions. That's why I'll always be a step ahead of those wearing blinders.
Agreed. Again, Bradshaw was one of the toughest people to ever play the game. Biggest balls of any QB I've ever watched. He is most definitely an all time great.
I don't need to "not be so sure". I've watched him play .... He is EXCELLENT at midrange passes, and midrange passes are where most deep balls are caught. In 2007 alone he averaged 12.1 yards per completion. Better than Manning even. Percentages are not the best way to gauge. He could have thrown three straight passes starting from first down and completed the last one 30 yards. I mean there is a reason why NE's passing offense led the league or were right near the top in every catagory including scoring in 2007. He throws the ball a ton so yeah, I'm sure..
He's not great. I just showed you the numbers. You're looking at his passes including YAC. I'm talking strictly in the air. And on passes that travel 15 yds or more, he's not good. he does throw a ton. A ton of 0-9 yard passes... Which he's 7th in the league as far as completions go.
why are you so sensitive? Why are you so quick to whine and bring up "possible" forum infractions? Do you not think the mods can handle the forum? I know perfectly well what is and isn't passive aggressive...and you, my friend, are just that. Can you not have a debate and not get personal or angry or hurt?
You FB and text? Lol. Who have I called names? I think you're wound a little too tight buddy. I'm not here to cause anyone anguish, but I also don't like everyone kissing each others butt in agreement. Maybe you should turn your computer and phone off for a little bit and make some face-to-face real friends.
I got to copy and post this topic on one of the Patriots forum, they be rolling on the floor laughing at our fan base. How many topics do you think they have saying how great Peton Manning is? How many of there fans kiss Peyton arse and say how much they respect him. If you said ZERO, your correct. Matter of fact there fans, bashed the crap out of Ryan Tannehill over this tweet. Using this as a battle cry, to disrespect our QB. Now our battle cry in return is "We love you and respect you Tom Brady" sorry New England fans, if we upset you.
What are you talking about? If this post of yours isn't passive aggressive nothing is. Lol... I still think you need a break from Internet world though.
So, your'e a noob with a PFF subscription. I don't need PFF to tell me what I have watched for over a decade. Enjoy yourself though, you seem too be making all kinds of new friends by telling people how they should view the sport. I guess 25+ years has been a waste, I should have waited for you and PFF to arrive to let me know what is going on.
There is NOTHING wrong with respecting an opponent, and even a rival like the Jets.. There is nothing wrong with aspiring to excel as your opponent(not necessarily the Jets) does.Yes, Tom Brady is a great QB, I think we can all agree on that, but where he falls among the all time greats will always be hotly contested. That said, it's time to focus less on Brady and more on Tannehill.
If you refuse to believe proven facts then yes, your 25 years have been a waste. You have fun with your Internet friends though. I'll stick to real people. Lol
Even if that stat were valid in the slightest (which I doubt), why does it mean so much? Just think, man: If he is so abysmal against pressure and can't throw deep as you claim, how do you explain all the, uh, winning and crazy stats he's put up? Why do those stats even matter? The guy went to 5 superbowls, has won the division 11/12 years, has been to 7 AFC champ games, broke the single-season TD record, he was Peyton Manning's kryptonite for like 6 years, 2 league MVPs, and whenever the team overhauls their roster/pass-catchers/general strategy they don't lose a beat because he's so damn good. You're reaching for these small stats trying to poke holes in the game of a QB who has dominated the conference for almost 15 years. That just makes no sense. Cmon now.
Doubt it all you want, it's true. Brady throws a ton of short, safe passes and his WR's are very good after the catch. These aren't opinions... They are facts. You can believe them or not. I couldn't care less. The Super Bowls, AFC East titles... ALL are team accomplishments. You talk about his 2 MVP's and say he's Manning's kryptonite. Do you know how many MVP's Manning has? And I guess Eli is better than Brady in your world... He's Brady's kryptonite, right? Please, if your going to reply or criticize my opinion, do so, but bring some substance.
From reading the Patriots forum, they seem to respect the enemy player after he retires. Not our fan base here, we are groveling and respecting them during the war. No wonder we are a joke of a fan base, maybe we should give every one on the forum a participation award next, as we wave the white flag and call it "we respect Tom Brady"
Oh Lord. Your list clearly values winning (Bradshaw, Montana); and to say winning doesn't matter is just asinine when the League's most important position is undoubtedly the QB. Brady has won a ton of games and numerous championships; he has put up huge numbers in the process, including arguably the best statistical season ever for a QB (2007). I don't know what your criteria is if it's not winning+stats.
Once more, I explained why I have Bradshaw on my list. At least read my posts if you're going to reply to them. You're the 2nd person who has said this same thing. and statistically, Marino's 1984 year was better.
I don't post much (haven't in a long while), but I am an everyday reader... I couldn't resist jumping in here... For someone who claims to "stick to real people," you have been on top of posting here minute by minute for the past few days... Contradict much?
