Interesting article. My issue is this: if we move to get an OT, he is our starting LT, putting Martin to RT where he was WORSE than he was at LT (where he was below average).

The only way I am okay with expending that many resources to, effectively, move Martin back to RT is if we ALSO acquire a RT and make Martin a swing Tackle back-up or try him at Guard.

So, to me, you are better off living with Martin at LT (where he looked marginally less poor), and getting a RT like Clabo or Winston in FA, or a 2nd, 3rd, 4th round RT like Watson or Fragel.

That would make the draft fairly simple to predict.

These latest bits are just off shoots of previously addressed rumors, I think.

Well, I think it means they HAVE to take a CB with the remaining 2nd round pick... or a rush DE if no good value is there at CB.

    So...
1 - Trade 12 and 54 for Lane Johnson OT
2b - CB Banks or Hayden, or DE Datone Jones, Alex Okafor or Corey Lemonier
3a - TE Escobar or Kelce
3c - Best remaining WR of Swope, Bailey, Quinton Patton, etc.

    That's how I'd see it.

Well, you can label them "persistent" rumors at this point, anyways, meaning there is no new information to slow their roll.

Well you and I did narrow down their plans to OT or CB, leaning towards OT. Cleveland at 6 is where you can get Johnson. Cleveland would love another second versus say whatever paltry amount Arizona could trade to it.

If you don't draft Rhodes the guy you draft later is not likely to be anything more than a dime guy. Miami has had interest in the top guys and then middle round. Brandon McGee is the name to look for.

OT is the only standout need on the team where they're almost obliged to make a move sooner than later. The rest of the roster you can ride out with at least a decent player.

So much of this, though, depends on whether Fisher and Joeckel are both gone already by Cleveland's pick. If not, would we be willing to wait a couple more picks to offer only our 2b to trade up and take whichever remained?

I don't necessarily agree. If Banks or Hayden are there in the 2nd, I think they have the chops to become starting #2 CBs. The problem with banks is run support in zone cover... and speed in man cover. But his instincts are Zach-Thomas-like which negates speed issues leaving mainly the lack of strong tackling.

The proposed trade would be a massive waste of resources and completely negate the success of our offseason thus far in my mind.

    Good info, Crazy...

I am not thrilled at the idea of expending all those hard-gained draft picks in a draft loaded with starting-caliber talent all the way through round three.

Well.. if you think of it this way....

You can sign Eric Winston and draft Tavon Austin, One Of Cyprien / DJ Hayden, and One of Travis Kelce / Corey Lemonier / Larry Warford with those picks.

    OR

    You draft Lane Johnson.

And, I can honestly see that being their criteria. IF they can move up a few spots, and it costs a 2nd, then that is what it is. IF they have to move up further, and it costs the cabin, not worth it....

I've been talked off the ledge here. If it plays out how I'm being led to believe it will play out, I'll be happy.

    Relatively speaking of course

Here is how I see the drag going:

    1.) Chiefs - Joeckel/Fisher
    2.) Jaguars - Ansah/Jordan
    3.) Raiders - Floyd/Jordan/Ansah
    4.) Eagles - Smith/Fisher/Johnson
    5.) Lions - Milliner/Johnson/Fisher
    6.) Browns - Jordan/Ansah/Milliner
    7.) Cardinals - Johnson/Fisher

I fully expect all three LT's to be gone by the #8 overall pick. That being said, the most likely teams to take one of the LT's includes: Chiefs, Eagles, Lions, and Cardinals. Realistically, we COULD try to hold back and see what the Eagles do with their pick before trading up, but this is like playing Russian Roulette because if they take a LT and the Lions do in fact want to draft a LT, they could shoot down any trade offer we send them and take the last LT available leaving us high and dry. On the other hand if the Eagles pass on a LT we could trade up to the 6-7 range at a much lower cost. By talking trade with the Raiders we absolutely guarantee that we get either Fisher or Johnson.

Reading the tea leafs it seems like Ireland is on the hot seat and NEEDS to produce this year. If we do in fact trade up to #3 I think it will be either of the following deals:
    #3 for #12, #54, and a future 2nd
    #3 for #12, #42, and a future 3rd
