    Here and there
If Miami makes a move to get one of the top three LTs then obviously they feel Martin isnt good enough to play left side. But to look at a rookie who was drafted to play RT, practices all summer at RT, all preseason at RT and 3/4 the season at RT, then move him to LT for 4 games and expect said rookie to perform at a high level??? i'll see you "come on" and raise you a give me a break.

Even in the NFL you have to develope players. I am not saying Martin is going to be anything, i am saying 4 games at LT in a rookie year isnt enough data.

I see no problem with Miami drafting an OT at #12 or later in the draft. If one of the big three Tackles is available at #12 then great but I hope they don't give up other draft picks to move up. All of the hype has been about how great Miami has positioned itself with draft picks but that is all for nothing if they start trading them away to move up. Maybe they are not that impressed with what Martin has shown at left or right tackle and just want to have an insurance policy just in case. Another good young tackle sure doesn't hurt anything even if Martin finally succeeds in his development. I just hope they don't package valuable draft picks to get him. If we make a trade I hope it is back and not up. I still remember all of the hype from Jake Long's selection several years ago and we don't have anything to show for it now.

    AMERICA!

He was worth all the hype too.
It was the injuries that did him in the FO eyes.

So what is that, something endemic of tackles somehow, or just bad luck?

If Ireland mentions that he can move down or trade up for OL in the draft, he's covering his *** on the guy he really wants at 12. Eric Winston still has not been signed yet. I could see him being a Dolphin right after the draft. It covers Miami's interest in another player.

Well, sometimes you just know upon watching a guy. The vidence isn't all in... But already, you just.... Know.

I think Martin will be an excellent swing tackle backup for us. I hope to see us get a RT and a LT in FA and the draft, and let Martin develop more. I a couple years he may be a decent starter.

And the injuries had something to do with Sparanos play-through-the-injuries mentality combined with being dumb enough to play an recovering-from-injury Jake in the second half of a meaningless Pre season game.

Hat was the straw that broke the camels back. Yet another stupid way Sparano effed this team.

No way we spend the $$ to keep an ailing and lately down trending Jake Long, also no way we give up so many early picks to get Lane Johnson. I know everyone is down on Martin at LT but two things strike me, he played very well protecting Luck at Stanford so he knows the position, he fits the zone blocking scheme of our HC and OC while we must remember he had a shortened off season to get NFL strong and was a rookie last year. Yeah he sucked, but give the guy a full offseason of NFL strength training and his 2nd year just might be decent.

There are some pretty decent OT's available this draft, we don't HAVE to get Johnson, just build a solid OL to run and protect Tanny. I don't believe this report, think maybe we do trade up with the Browns to go high enough to get one of the 3-4 top level OT's, but Ireland isn't giving up the farm for that, no way. JMVHO
