The Fins are #3 on my top five potential spots for Eifert.

The colts make 0 sense, seeing they have two potential studs in Fleener and Dwayne Allen, Allen could knock on the probowls door next year, he's that good, had us taking him last year, great draft pick where he went.

Steelers and falcons now make sense.

"Out of all the core positions in the upcoming NFL Draft, it could be argued only one has a consensus top-ranked prospect: tight end. Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert has distinguished himself, through both game film and offseason workouts, as being head and shoulders above the rest of the tight end class."

    Ertz never had a chance..:shifty:

He would be an excellent choice..we'd be lucky to have this player, surest future pro bowl player in the draft imo..." Will require a double team in the redzone"... Chip Kelly..and me.

Can do it all..projection?...top 3 in two years...groundbreaking size/ position specific athletic ability..

I don't know... Colts will keep Eifert, Fleener AND Allen?

Confession: I totally spaced on Allen. :headwall:

I'd be okay with this. A long term solution to a longstanding problem.

Well, that seems to be the great thing about this draft and our position in it...I'd rather see us drop down to 18-20 and possibly pick up Vaccaro, but if we have to stay at 12 (which is very likely, no one seems to want to give up picks in the second round of this particular draft), I'd be happy with Eiffert, but it might be a reach...The thing is, what do you do if Rhodes, Eiffert, Cooper, and Star are all there at 12 ?? Now, if Johnson or Leukel are there, they would trump any other guys...

Thing is, if you draft Eiffert he fills a want, but not a need (at least for this year). Rhodes, any of the OT, Cooper all represent needs, not just wants... It's what makes this draft interesting...the other thing, is I think we are in a position to be a trade down partner with someone simply because at #12, there just may not be a guy that fits both need and want for us. On the other hand, we may have to reach if we stay at #12 just to fill a need. It's tough...but I also think that the talent array in this draft suits Irish's strengths...he rarely hits a HR in the first, but he hits some great doubles and triples (creating RBIs) in the other rounds...

I still think we end up trading up in this years draft. I have a feeling we will get Dee Millinier or an OT in the first round.

I'm 100% aboard on this. Even way before this article. But I know, Ireland is going to draft Noe Body.

I'd much rather we take Eifert than Vaccaro or Rhodes.
I'm still not convinced he'll be a better pro than Ertz or Escobar though. Honestly I think all 3 will be good players. Just that Eifert's better workout numbers upped his draft value.

I agree with your first sentence, but not the rest, I think his capabilities stand alone in this draft..

Oh Lord please make this happen. This has been my dream draft pick if we stay at 12 and he is there.

Where is he expected to go? Ireland has said he does not consider TE a prime position.

He said it hasn't been considered a core position in the past. He also said that in the middle of smokescreen month.

I've seen him mocked anywhere from us to like 30. I'd say the over/under is a good bet at 18 (could go Steelers at 17, or Giants 19 or Bears 20).
