Well clearly they forgot to say he doesn't have to hold pass rushers for long as it takes TGJr about 1.5 seconds to run the entire field. : ) Great news, and i'm sure he'll figure out the pass rushing before the season, we've needed a dominant guy like this on our oline for a very long time. Were finally heading in the right direction.
This was one of my concerns when he was coming out, was he able to handle speed rushers. Hopefully over time he will be able to. Good question lol, I don't really know. Exactly bro.
It will be fine. With a coach as good as sparano, I really dont see Long not panning out into at the worst a solid LT and at best a perenniel probowler. I was and still am very excited by his pickup and have no doubt that he will have everything under control. Its just a matter of adjusting to NFL speeds and getting your footwork down. Hes got the athleticism and coaching to do both well.
The way a lot of posters here hype him, his rookie trip to Canton should have been his induction ceremony.
Oh yeah. Im praying that jt will end up in minicamp. He will take Jake Longs lunch. I promise you that. But by the end of the camp...even if the SLOW JT down..it will mean he will be alright vs pass rushers.
O line is the hardest position to acclimate to from college. The game is so much faster and guys that were monsters at their college, or in their division are now the same size if not smaller than alot of the guys trying to get past them.
I would have to say QB is the hardest. Many O lineman come in and do just fine. Very few Qb's. We we'll probally have a TE helping Jake Long out
